Rocks and dirt continuously flew, the pitch-black Rankyaku like an unstoppable force, leaving a smooth gash before crashing into the flying sand, forcing Crocodile to hastily reform his body and roll onto the ground.
A new wound could be seen on his left arm, trickling blood.
"Damn Armament Haki."
Crocodile's face turned pale, gritting his teeth as he shot forward again.
The opponent could kill Dragon Horn Jax; he was no match for him right now.
But as soon as he darted out ten meters, a pitch-black whip kick met him head-on. Unbeknownst to him, Chaos had appeared ahead of time, hands still in his pockets with a look of disdain.
"Desert Diamond Treasure Blade!"
Crocodile roared, his hands transforming into massive sand blades, which he swung towards Chaos's incoming whip kick.
There was no earth-shattering collision as expected, only utter destruction.
The Diamond Treasure Blade only held for a moment before being mercilessly kicked apart, but Crocodile managed to Elementalize at the last second, narrowly dodging the blow.
However, before he could even stabilize himself, Chaos appeared out of nowhere to his left and kicked again.
Crocodile's face contorted instantly, his entire body bending like a shrimp, his ribs cracking audibly. Blood gushed from his mouth.
The ground shattered in an instant, and Crocodile was sent flying, landing in the ruins with no ability to fight back.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Chaos's afterimages flickered, moving erratically and rapidly closing in.
"Desert Greatsword!"
Crocodile refused to give up, his blood-stained hands slamming onto the ground, forming sand blades that surged towards Chaos. But such attacks were completely visible to Observation Haki.
It could be seen that all the sand blades only cut through Chaos's afterimages.
The sound of rapid movement slicing through the air continued to arrive. Crocodile's eyes widened, bloodshot.
He was the strongest Logia user, yet he had been pushed to this point for the second time.
But no matter how angry he was now, it changed nothing.
Chaos materialized right in front of him, delivering another seemingly ordinary sweeping attack. Crocodile only had time to block with his hands before his entire body exploded into a gust of wind and sand, escaping rapidly.
Rumble!
Explosions continued to spread. Crocodile revealed himself from his Elementalization, falling to the ground in pain. The ground within a fifty-meter radius caved in, forming a large pit in an instant.
Chaos stood at the edge of the pit, extending his index finger and pressing down lightly.
The sky boomed as ten golden swords, spears, halberds, and sabers descended from a thousand meters above, exploding simultaneously over Crocodile. They transformed into a large cloud of golden powder that covered the entire pit.
Crocodile could only watch helplessly. His body wouldn't recover anytime soon; all he felt was pain and numbness.
As the golden powder turned Crocodile into a golden statue, Chaos took out a cigar and flicked his index finger and thumb together. His index finger became like a red-hot iron, and the cigar touched it with a snap, igniting.
A new application of Shigan.
Very flashy!
And very trendy.
This dazzling way of lighting a cigar was truly something not just anyone could think of, or possess.
Chaos lit his cigar and blew on his index finger, which then returned to normal.
Then, Chaos casually beckoned. Crocodile, deeply embedded in the dirt, began to float uncontrollably towards Chaos.
The remaining golden powder re-coalesced, forming several swords, spears, halberds, and sabers that hovered upside down around Chaos.
"What did you do to me!"
Crocodile was panicking now.
Chaos didn't answer. With the cigar in his mouth, he gently waved his hands to the sides. The next moment, Crocodile was suspended in the air in a spread-eagle pose, like a fish on a cutting board, completely at Chaos's mercy.
Chaos reached out, and a Golden Longsword automatically fell into his hand. It was then imbued with Armament Haki and unhesitatingly thrust towards Crocodile's heart.
A fatal crisis washed over him, and Crocodile's entire soul seemed to plunge into an ice cellar.
He was going to die!
He was really going to die.
Bang!
Crocodile's strong survival instinct caused him to explode into fine sand, scattering across the ground. He managed to escape five meters before he could no longer maintain Elementalization. Forcing himself to reform, he knelt on the ground, coughing up blood repeatedly.
He was seriously injured.
"Divine Control is indeed useless."
Chaos frowned, looking at the scattered golden powder on the ground, which had clearly separated from Crocodile's body.
Ever since he developed Divine Control, as long as any creature's body was invaded by the golden powder, Chaos held their life and death in his hands.
In fact, Chaos had been prepared for this move to be ineffective against Logia users. After all, Logia users could Elementalize and completely expel any foreign substances from their bodies.
Chaos's Divine Control worked by manipulating the golden powder that entered a person's body. Since the powder could be expelled, it naturally lost its effect.
It's not just Logia users; it's probably useless against those with strong Armament Haki, as well as powerful individuals who can use Life Return.
He was just testing it out, to avoid making mistakes in the future.
"Jingle bells!"
The clash of blades, spears, swords, and halberds formed the Chains of Heaven. One end was held in Jax's hand, while the other shot out like a viper towards Crocodile, rapidly turning black and gold. Even though Crocodile used Elementalization again, he was forcibly expelled from his body and bound.
Standing before Jax again, Crocodile's heart rate had slowed by several beats.
Didn't this guy want to subdue him?
Why did he try to kill him just now?
He could feel it clearly; if he hadn't used Elementalization, he would have died.
"Two paths. Choose yourself!"
"Ten seconds!"
Jax exhaled smoke rings from his nostrils, leaving Crocodile with only a profile view as he gazed into the distance, contemplating his next plan.
At this moment, Crocodile's slicked-back hair was a mess, falling onto his head. His face was pale and covered in blood, and he glared furiously at Jax's profile. This guy's attention wasn't on him at all; it was no different from completely ignoring him.
Two paths.
Live, or die.
How should he choose?
Crocodile gritted his teeth. Although his heart was filled with rage and unwillingness, reality remained cruel.
He couldn't change any outcome.
"Come on, tell me your choice!"
About five minutes later, Jax came back to his senses and looked at Crocodile.
Thinking about it had given Crocodile a few extra minutes.
Little did he know, these extra minutes made Crocodile's torment even worse.
"Aren't you afraid I'm just temporarily feigning submission?"
Crocodile still wanted to struggle, attempting a roundabout path to victory.
"I like despicable, ambitious, fierce, cruel traitors. After all, subduing these kinds of people gives me a sense of accomplishment. So, I advise you, don't try to kill me unless you have 100% certainty, or your end will be tragic!"
Jax grinned, revealing white teeth that flashed with a cold glint. Even though he was smiling, Crocodile inexplicably felt a chill.
This guy was either a madman or an arrogant fool.
Or perhaps overconfident.
"You will regret this!"
Crocodile snorted coldly.
He seemed to see hope already. After all, arrogant and conceited people usually didn't live long.
"You don't understand."
"My whole life is about seeking thrills and excitement!"
"Old Sand, your perspective is too narrow."
Jax looked at Crocodile with a hint of pity, feeling a sense of loneliness like the falling snow.
He wondered when he would finally meet someone who understood him...
