"Cough, cough, cough~"
Beckman lay in the rubble, coughing with blood filling his mouth.
He looked up at the sky. Gild Tesoro had pulled Red-Hair's soul out with one hand, and the body with a hole through its chest had crashed straight to the ground.
It was over.
Everything was over.
After today, the Red-Haired Pirates would disappear from the seas for good.
They had been wiped out in just a few exchanges.
They hadn't even been able to put up an effective fight.
Beckman hadn't expected this.
"Has Gaia become a god too?"
Beckman staggered to his feet and watched Crocodile descend from the sky. Then he looked away, his expression calm.
Even Red-Hair had been killed with ease. Beckman couldn't think of any explanation other than that Gaia was a god.
Because this scene felt all too familiar.
During the Summit War, Gild Tesoro had been killed by a god in exactly the same way, without the slightest chance to fight back.
"Maybe. This Emperor isn't sure."
Crocodile shrugged. He genuinely didn't know whether Chaos had broken through the ceiling and become a god.
When he'd asked, he'd gotten an answer that was more or less a yes.
"What exactly is a god?"
Beckman murmured to himself.
The power shown by those two gods during the Summit War, and now by Gild Tesoro, was simply too far beyond anything he knew. It had completely overturned his understanding of the world.
What kind of realm was that?
Just how powerful was it?
Had there been other gods over the past few centuries?
"Let's fight!"
He took a deep breath.
Beckman attacked Crocodile.
Even if he died, he would die fighting.
That was his pride.
As for running or begging for mercy, Beckman had never considered either.
