"You wish!"
Faced with Fu Qian's sincerity, Tan Ying rolled her eyes, clearly taking it as a joke.
"But you sure hit hard. You just swung something that heavy at someone without a second thought. Weren't you afraid you'd hurt them?"
She leaned close to Fu Qian, lowering her voice, her eyes shining.
"Qin Mingze told me you were dangerous. At first, I didn't believe him."
"Just a reminder: private investigations are illegal."
Fu Qian didn't look the least bit uncomfortable under her scrutiny.
Tan Ying knew about the time she'd hit someone with a can of cola. That was hardly surprising. Most likely, she'd also been the one to tell Pei Yanqing.
Even so, Fu Qian wasn't worried that she'd suspect him of having formatted those five people.
That was the benefit of widespread education.
Within a sufficiently broad system of shared understanding, everyone would instinctively fit events into it and rationalize them.
So even if he turned himself in, he'd probably be thrown out, because there'd be no way to write up a report about what had happened.
It was a strange and surging "force," and it naturally helped conceal his reckless behavior.
"Like you haven't done anything illegal yourself."
A mere remark like that wasn't enough to intimidate Tan Ying. She wrinkled her nose and shot Fu Qian a sidelong glance.
But before she could say anything else, a bodyguard who looked every bit the professional hurried up in the elevator and leaned over to speak quietly with Song Hang.
Tan Ying had clearly been keeping an eye on them. She immediately stopped pestering Fu Qian and hurried over, her face full of anticipation.
"We didn't find her."
After hearing the report, Song Hang slowly shook his head.
"We've searched just about everywhere. Your classmate wasn't there."
