Chapters 51–75 Vol. 1 Read

Ch. 51The Stone Throne as a Tranquilizer?

Fu Qian sat on the stone throne and discovered that its mental assault connected him to the furnace and the ruin. When Feng Yunhong attacked, the throne’s power disintegrated him and drew the gathered Transcendents’ flesh and blood into a vortex around Fu Qian.

  • Fu Qian evaded Feng Yunhong’s attack until Feng Yunhong detonated himself, then watched him begin to regenerate.
  • Fu Qian sat on the stone throne, endured its crushing flow of information, and realized Feng Yunhong had used it to suppress the other Transcendents’ consciousnesses.
  • Fu Qian sat on the throne again and let the voices wash over him, sensing his spirit merge with the ruin and seeing Ji Liushuang and the others under attack.
  • Feng Yunhong recovered, seized his halberd, and attacked Fu Qian, but an invisible vortex caught the weapon and froze him.
  • The throne’s power disintegrated Feng Yunhong and drew blood faces and flesh from him into a vortex that replenished Fu Qian and shielded him from the throne’s assault.

Ch. 52Seeing Without Seeing (Angel of Peace Complete)

Fu Qian absorbed the furnace’s vortex and became connected to its rules, then opened a passage through the barrier for the trapped survivors. The group escaped, while Ji Liushuang forgot why she had left a marker for Fu Qian.

  • Fu Qian overwhelmed Feng Yunhong with a mental assault, absorbed the vortex, and left Feng Yunhong’s halberd beside the stone seat.
  • Fu Qian discovered he could merge with the furnace and pass unnoticed by its monsters and the trapped people.
  • Fu Qian found Ji Liushuang and the others searching the furnace’s edge for an exit, and heard Ji Liushuang argue that they should look for him.
  • Fu Qian opened a passage through the barrier and called to Ji Liushuang, who sensed the opening and found it.
  • Li Weixuan and Ji Liushuang led the group through the passage, and Ji Liushuang left a marker for Fu Qian before forgetting why she had made it.

Ch. 53Forced Rest

After completing his mission, Fu Qian gained mental resistance and was ordered to take three days off from the Warehouse. While enjoying his break at home and in his apartment complex, he attracted the attention of Qin Mingze and an unidentified woman who arrived in a sports car.

  • Fu Qian received no new kill credit for the mission but advanced his Outlaw assimilation to 2/3 and gained stronger resistance to mental attacks.
  • The Warehouse forced Fu Qian to take three days off after four consecutive workdays, and he returned home.
  • Fu Qian spent his first day off relaxing in the sun at his apartment complex, where the elderly residents began spreading rumors about him.
  • On his second day off, a red sports car drove into the complex and stopped in front of Fu Qian.
  • A woman in sunglasses asked if Fu Qian was the person they sought, and Qin Mingze confirmed that he was.

Ch. 54True Art Had to Touch the Soul

Fu Qian used the Dream Ring to avoid posing as Tan Ying’s nude model by manipulating her and Qin Mingze inside a dream. The dream ended with Tan Ying abandoning the idea of drawing Qin Mingze in a dress.

  • Tan Ying arrived with Qin Mingze and demanded that Fu Qian pose as a model after discovering Qin Mingze had passed off Fu Qian’s photo as his own body.
  • Qin Mingze explained that Tan Ying was blackmailing him into finding the real owner of the body in the photo, and Fu Qian agreed to pose.
  • Fu Qian activated the Dream Ring and found that he could influence the dream and make its occupants more susceptible to his words.
  • Fu Qian persuaded Tan Ying that true art had to explore the clash between body and spirit, then convinced Qin Mingze to wear a black pleated skirt to take responsibility for the mess.
  • Tan Ying saw Qin Mingze in the dress, concluded her artistic sensibilities were not good enough, and gave up on drawing him.

Ch. 55The Omen Must Die

  • Soldier B told Soldier A that the Captain had ordered them to wait for Su Zhiyan and not disturb the scene.
  • Su Gao arrived, examined the victim, and heard Soldier A identify Fu Qian as suspicious.
  • Su Gao recognized Fu Qian and addressed him as Mr. Fu.

Ch. 57The Ill Omen Must Die (3)

Fu Qian reunited with Su Gao at the scene of Geng Yue’s murder, where the Night Watchers suspected the Ill Omen might be responsible. As Su Gao began investigating the elusive killer, Fu Qian questioned what disaster his mission required him to prevent.

  • Su Gao recognized Fu Qian, thanked him for his help during their previous operation, and learned he had come to deal with the Ill Omen.
  • Lu Jun apologized to Fu Qian and explained that the victim, Geng Yue, had been waiting for someone who never arrived; Su Gao cautioned that they could not yet confirm the Ill Omen was responsible.
  • Fu Qian advised the Night Watchers to investigate the person who missed the reservation as well as Geng Yue’s husband, prompting him to tease Lu Jun about his naïve assumptions about marriage.
  • Su Gao told Fu Qian that she had joined the Execution Yan Group and tracked the Ill Omen to the city, but the Night Watchers knew little about the killer’s identity or whereabouts.
  • Fu Qian wondered what disaster his mission referred to and how it was connected to the Ill Omen.

Ch. 58Ill Omen Must Die (4)

Fu Qian and Su Gao visited the Night Watcher base in Xiyuan City to investigate Ill Omen, whose attacks on transcendentals were growing more frequent. After learning that the local Huang Family dominated the city’s transcendent population, Fu Qian decided to visit them.

  • Su Gao and Fu Qian arrived at the Xiyuan City Night Watcher base, where Captain Qiao reported that the latest killing was certainly done by a transcendent but could not yet be attributed to Ill Omen.
  • Su Gao obtained the confidential Ill Omen files and gave them to Fu Qian, who found records of brutal killings and learned the criminal had attacked Xiyuan City before.
  • Fu Qian learned from Su Gao that Ill Omen mainly killed transcendentals and that his attacks appeared to be becoming more frequent.
  • Fu Qian asked Captain Qiao for Xiyuan City’s directory of transcendentals and discovered that more than half belonged to the Huang Family.
  • Fu Qian decided to visit the Huang Family, while Captain Qiao advised him to be careful and Fu Qian said he had experience dealing with families like theirs.

Ch. 59Ill Omen Must Die (5)

  • Fu Qian asked Captain Qiao about natural disasters around Xiyuan and learned of a dormant volcano near the city.
  • Lu Jun reported that Lu Xing had seemed like an ordinary man with a good marriage, but Fu Qian insisted on visiting him.

  • Fu Qian urged Captain Qiao to investigate the Xiyuan Huang Clan while the others searched for Lu Xing.
  • Captain Qiao described the Huang Clan’s intermarriage practices and introduced Huang Zhixun as a Peak Fourth Order practitioner; Su Gao said he was no good.

Ch. 60Ill Omen Must Die (6)

  • Fu Qian told Huang Jianyuan that a witness had seen the killer flee into the estate, prompting Huang Jianyuan to angrily deny the accusation.
  • Huang Leji arrived and insisted that the Huang Family had no connection to Ill Omen or the murder.
  • Su Gao demanded evidence that the family was innocent, then unleashed her killing intent and set a deadline of noon the next day.
  • Su Gao left the reception room, and Fu Qian and Captain Qiao followed her.

Ch. 61Ill Omen Must Die (7)

Fu Qian pressured the Huang Family to search for the killer, then returned to the Night Watchers’ base and discovered that someone was spying on him. The next morning, Captain Qiao reported that the Huang Family’s head wanted to visit and share information.

  • Huang Leji ordered his people to search the estate for the killer and had Fu Qian watched as he left.
  • Fu Qian returned to the Night Watchers’ base with Captain Qiao and Su Gao, then settled into a secure guest room.
  • A smoke-like insect slipped into Fu Qian’s room to spy on him, but Su Gao sliced it apart through the wall.
  • Su Gao offered to deal with the spy, but Fu Qian refused because the person was still useful.
  • Captain Qiao told Fu Qian that the Huang Family’s head wanted to visit and share information.

Ch. 62Old Master Huang Had to Die (8)

Huang Leji came to the base to apologize for the Huang Family’s lack of progress and offered Huang Lezhan and the family’s elite to help investigate. Fu Qian revealed he had caught a suspicious woman, Xiao Ying, and Huang Leji claimed the Huang Family had found someone connected to the case.

  • Huang Leji told Su Gao that the Huang Family had found no useful leads, apologized, and appointed Huang Lezhan to lead their elite in assisting the investigation.
  • Fu Qian said the help was no longer needed because he had already found someone suspicious.
  • Fu Qian chased down a fleeing figure, exposed her from black mist, and brought the injured woman back to the base.
  • Fu Qian identified the woman as someone who had followed him and broken into the base, but she denied wrongdoing.
  • Huang Leji said the woman, Xiao Ying, was a Huang Family guard and claimed they had found someone connected to the previous day’s case.

Ch. 63The Omen Must Die (9)

Fu Qian questioned Huang Jinyong about Geng Yue’s death and concluded that the Ill Omen might be hiding within the Huang Family. The investigation took a sudden turn when Huang Leji reported another murder in the family, possibly committed by the Ill Omen.

  • Huang Leji admitted the Huang Family had found Huang Jinyong and brought him in for questioning.
  • Fu Qian questioned Huang Jinyong, who confessed to an affair with Geng Yue but denied meeting or killing her.
  • Huang Jinyong said he had been avoiding Geng Yue after she pressured him to leave her husband, and claimed he had lied about being a transcendent.
  • Fu Qian decided the Huang Family’s failure to uncover the Ill Omen suggested it might be hiding within the family.
  • Someone told Huang Leji that a Huang Family member had just been murdered, possibly by the Ill Omen.

Ch. 64Ill Omen Must Die (10)

Fu Qian investigated a brutal killing at the Huang Family estate and learned that the first person to find the bodies was Huang Yuanchang. A disaster appeared above the mountaintop, drawing the Huang Family members into its spell as Fu Qian's sanity rapidly fell.

  • Fu Qian and Su Gao went with Huang Leji to inspect the secluded courtyard where two bodies had been gruesomely fused together.
  • Su Gao identified the killing as Ill Omen's work, while Captain Qiao gave Fu Qian a report linking Lu Xing's recent movements to the culprit's timeline.
  • Fu Qian learned that Huang Yuanchang had discovered the bodies and then joined Huang Jianyuan in pursuing the culprit.
  • A colossal rust-colored tree appeared above the mountaintop, and its vision began consuming the sanity of everyone who looked at it.

Ch. 65The Evil Omen Must Die (11)

Fu Qian returned to the containment scene and realized that learning Evil Omen’s name may have changed what happened to Geng Yue. He discovered a hidden spell around her neck, apparently drawn by her husband Lu Xing to kill her.

  • Fu Qian recalled the flesh-and-blood tree and suspected Evil Omen’s sacrifices had made it visible, then identified Huang Yuanchang as his next target.
  • Fu Qian entered the restaurant scene again and found Geng Yue alive, unlike during his previous attempt.
  • Fu Qian reasoned that learning names connected to Evil Omen may have altered events, perhaps because of its instinct for danger.
  • Fu Qian approached Geng Yue, examined her, and noticed a faint pattern around her neck beneath her necklace.
  • Fu Qian concluded that Lu Xing had likely drawn a spell on Geng Yue’s neck that would eventually sever her head.

Ch. 66Ill Omen Must Die (12)

Fu Qian confronted Lu Xing, who attacked him with a cursed bolt and revealed his connection to the patterns killing Geng Yue. Fu Qian realized the talisman had activated early during his previous entry into the Containment Scene to mislead him, and understood the murder was Ill Omen’s response to his investigation.

  • Fu Qian visited Lu Xing’s home and claimed Geng Yue had arranged to meet him there.
  • Lu Xing let Fu Qian inside, then secretly shot him with a crossbow bolt covered in cursed patterns.
  • Lu Xing explained that he had discovered the patterns in his childhood dreams and used them to curse Fu Qian, while insisting he wanted an ordinary life.
  • Lu Xing said Geng Yue would be dead in about half an hour, leading Fu Qian to deduce that her talisman had originally been set to activate about an hour after he entered the restaurant.
  • Fu Qian realized his earlier entry into the Containment Scene had triggered the talisman prematurely, and that the resulting murder was meant to mislead him as Ill Omen’s response.

Ch. 67The Death Omen Must Die (13)

Fu Qian escaped Lu Xing’s ambush and went to the Huang Family estate to pursue Ill Omen. He found two victims being mutilated and realized Huang Yuanchang had likely fled as the estate’s alarm sounded.

  • Lu Xing removed the strip concealing his aura and attacked Fu Qian, who revealed he had avoided the curse’s effects and defeated him.
  • Fu Qian left Lu Xing behind and decided to target the retired transcendent, suspecting Huang Yuanchang was Ill Omen.
  • Fu Qian disguised himself as Huang Jianyuan and entered the Huang Family estate without raising suspicion.
  • Fu Qian reached the courtyard and found two people being torn apart by dark strips of flesh.
  • An alarm rang across the estate as people rushed toward the courtyard, and Fu Qian suspected Huang Yuanchang had already escaped.

Ch. 68Ill Omen Must Die (14)

  • Fu Qian told the surrounding Huang Family members that Ill Omen had killed their relative and claimed he was a Special Operations Consultant for the Night Watchers.
  • Fu Qian asked the Huang Family to preserve the crime scene and provide records of every transcendent family member’s movements over the past month.

  • Su Gao examined the murder scene and identified Ill Omen’s style before greeting Fu Qian as a longtime colleague.
  • When Huang Leji challenged Fu Qian’s identity, Su Gao confirmed that he was a Special Operations Consultant for the Night Watchers.

Ch. 69Ill Omen Must Die (15)

  • Fu Qian told the Huang Family that Ill Omen’s next target would be one of their own, then left with Su Gao while Huang Leji ordered the estate placed on high alert.
  • Fu Qian showed Su Gao a document identifying Huang Yuanchang as Ill Omen’s likely true identity.
  • Fu Qian explained that Ill Omen was hiding in Xiyuan City and needed only a few more sacrifices to complete a ritual that could cause a large-scale disaster.
  • Fu Qian drew routes for himself and Su Gao to search, estimating that Ill Omen needed at least five more sacrifices of people below the Intermediate Tier.
  • Su Gao accepted her route and left to search, while Fu Qian set out on his own, expecting Ill Omen’s protector to focus more attention on her.

Ch. 70Ill Omen Must Die (Sixteen)

Fu Qian pursued Ill Omen across Xiyuan City, dealing with a Transcendent who mistook him for the killer while following the trail of slaughter. He reached the Night Watchers’ base and found a wounded figure beside a tree hung with mangled limbs.

  • Fu Qian found an Eighth Order Transcendent who sealed the mansion with steel plates and attacked him with a giant hammer.
  • Fu Qian subdued the man, made him open the doors, and continued tracking Ill Omen.
  • Fu Qian found another Transcendent dead in bed and suspected Ill Omen’s blessing helped him kill people while they were unaware.
  • Fu Qian recognized the Night Watchers’ base and entered to find a wounded figure sitting amid blood beside a flesh-and-blood tree bearing mangled limbs.
  • The wounded figure asked Fu Qian if he had arrived, and Fu Qian confirmed that he had.

Ch. 71A Night to Die for Ill Omen (17)

Fu Qian arrived too late to stop Huang Yuanchang from completing his sacrifice, which triggered a disaster and caused containment to fail. In the Warehouse, Fu Qian considered how Huang Yuanchang’s ability to see deaths made the next attempt unpredictable and wondered if brute force could solve the problem.

  • Fu Qian found Huang Yuanchang at the Night Watcher base after he had killed three Night Watchers and completed the final sacrifice.
  • Huang Yuanchang explained that a mysterious being showed him other people’s deaths and his own, allowing him to carry out killings while avoiding danger.
  • Huang Yuanchang’s head burst, releasing golden patterns as an extraordinary being made contact with Fu Qian and madness spread across Xiyuan City.
  • Fu Qian received a containment failure alert and returned to the Warehouse with his sanity at 41.
  • Fu Qian assessed how Huang Yuanchang’s ability made his tactics unpredictable, doubted that he knew the whole story, and considered trying brute force.

Ch. 72Ill Omen Must Die (18)

Fu Qian escaped the restaurant containment scene and provoked the Huang Family by posing as Huang Yuanchang, threatening to slaughter the clan within three days. He drew Su Gao to his side and asked for her full cooperation against Ill Omen, warning that the danger was even greater than before.

  • Fu Qian re-entered the restaurant containment scene, ate a piece of food, and left as Lu Jun and another person arrived.
  • Fu Qian broke into Sixth Master Huang’s courtyard, revealed Huang Yuanchang’s face, and claimed the Huang Family had wronged him before threatening to make the clan his sacrifice.
  • Huang Lezhan chased Fu Qian, but Fu Qian countered his attack with a kick and Air Bullets, injuring his arm before escaping.
  • Huang Leji ordered the Night Watchers to be notified and put the Huang estate on high alert, instructing the family to kill Huang Yuanchang if he appeared.
  • Fu Qian went to a rogue Transcendent’s residence and drew Su Gao into a confrontation, then revealed himself and asked for her full cooperation against Ill Omen.

Ch. 73Ill Omen Must Die (19)

Fu Qian gathered Xiyuan’s unaffiliated supernatural beings at the Night Watcher base to force Ill Omen into a single choice. Huang Yuanchang arrived covered in silver symbols and declared that everyone would die.

  • Fu Qian sent Su Gao to take an unconscious woman to the Night Watcher base and gather the other supernatural beings there.
  • Fu Qian defeated the Eighth Order with a direct counterattack and brought him to the base.

  • Fu Qian charged Huang Yuanchang and let the beheading law cut off a decoy head while his real head remained hidden in his chest.
  • Fu Qian grabbed Huang Yuanchang and crushed his head, ending the strange power surrounding him.
  • Fu Qian perfectly digested Thug Form, gained a major physical strengthening, and received confirmation that the mission was complete.

  • Fu Qian activated Law Remnants and found that they produced only a faint golden visual effect.
  • Fu Qian’s access level was upgraded, allowing him to open synchronized item boxes in the Warehouse.
