Arc 75The Prison Knights

Fu Qian escaped the frozen prison’s Scarlet Fever outbreak, defeated the Plague Knight and White-hot Knight, and met the Wanderer while searching for Virgo La Nina. After the Wanderer vanished into the Abyss, Fu Qian returned to Jill and suggested that La Nina might be hidden within her.

  • Fu Qian joined Jill, White, and the other prisoners as Scarlet Fever spread, then discovered that the frozen sea had sealed their route to the island.
  • Madam An merged with White, became a demigod, and transformed into the Plague Knight before Fu Qian destroyed her and the dragon-like form with the Wriggling Seed.
  • Fu Qian left Jill and the survivors behind and drew out the White-hot Knight, who fought him while warning that the seedbed must not be defiled.
  • Fu Qian defeated the White-hot Knight, found no trace of Virgo La Nina, and then encountered the Wanderer, who was searching the prison for his wife.
  • Fu Qian fought the Wanderer and learned that he could not remember his wife’s name, then recruited him to search for La Nina by scent.
  • The Wanderer’s search drew Fu Qian toward the Abyss, but Fu Qian escaped while the Wanderer was consumed and disappeared.
  • Fu Qian returned to Jill and the Scholar, learned that their search had found no clues, and pressured Jill to consider whether La Nina was hidden within her.

Ch. 1866Artifact Species Seedbed (II)

Fu Qian questioned his fellow prisoner about Siren’s underwater prison and learned that it lay in a suspected Forbidden Zone surrounded by a lifeless sea. Their conversation ended when someone unlocked the cell and approached, warning them not to resist.

  • Fu Qian stole his fellow prisoner’s words and took the lead in questioning him.
  • The prisoner said he had been held for four or five months and described how Siren’s prison made time and experience feel unreal.
  • The prisoner explained that the prison sat on an island surrounded by a freezing, lifeless sea that might be a Forbidden Zone overseen by the Night Watchers.
  • Fu Qian kept asking questions as the prisoner grew suspicious about when Fu Qian had arrived and who he was.
  • A cell door unlocked, and an unfamiliar newcomer confirmed there were two prisoners before warning them not to resist as the restraints were released.

Ch. 18671866. Chapter 1853: Seedbed of Artifact Species (3)

Fu Qian and two rescuers freed him and his cellmate from their restraints in the underwater prison, where a mysterious Scarlet Fever curse was spreading. After revealing his disguise as Old Master Lu, Fu Qian learned the rescuers were affected too, and they prepared to leave to meet others outside.

  • A woman and another rescuer removed Fu Qian's restraints and freed his cellmate from his helmet and armor.
  • Fu Qian's cellmate recognized that the rescuers were inmates, and Fu Qian revealed he had been disguised as Old Master Lu.
  • The woman warned that the prisoners had little time to relax and showed them frost spreading from the cell door.
  • The rescuers revealed that Scarlet Fever had spread throughout the prison and was marked by dark red lines appearing on their arms.
  • The rescuer urged Fu Qian and his cellmate to leave and join the others waiting outside.

Ch. 1868The Seedbed of Artifact Species (4)

Fu Qian discovered that Scarlet Fever had spread through the underwater prison as a supernatural cold overtook it. He joined a group searching for a way out, only to learn that the sea above had frozen as well.

  • Fu Qian recognized the red lines on his body as Scarlet Fever and saw that his cellmate was also infected.
  • A black-haired woman freed Fu Qian and led him into the frost-covered corridor to join the others.
  • Fu Qian learned that Scarlet Fever had spread through most of the prison and that the cold left them little time to escape.
  • Fu Qian's cellmate caught up and asked whether the route to the surface remained open.
  • The black-haired woman told them the way back was gone and the sea had frozen over.

Ch. 1869Artifact Seedbed (5)

Fu Qian and the survivors crossed a frozen passage toward a meeting point while Scarlet Fever worsened and the dangers inside the prison grew. After a Scarlet Angel escaped its cell, a powerful man named White destroyed it with fire.

  • Fu Qian received an updated mission to find Virgo La Nina before the four Apocalypse Knights descended.
  • The black-haired Lady led the group through a frost-covered passage and explained that infected prisoners behind its cell doors had become dangerous.
  • A Scarlet Angel broke out of its cell and began transforming as the group passed.
  • White emerged from behind an ice pillar and burned the Scarlet Angel to nothing.

Ch. 1870Seedbed of Artifact Species (6)

White led Jill and the others through the prison after destroying a strange creature, while the group questioned Fu Qian’s suspicious presence and White’s failing memory. White eventually confirmed that he had assigned Fu Qian to the same cell as the scholar, and Jill urged the group to keep moving.

  • White destroyed the strange creature, and the black-haired woman warned that doing so could spread the contamination further.
  • White showed that Madam An was infected and introduced Jill, Li, the scholar, and Fu Qian, whom he did not recognize.
  • Fu Qian called himself Sinner, and the scholar challenged White about placing them in the same cell.
  • White recalled assigning Fu Qian to that cell, easing the group’s suspicions about him.
  • Jill urged everyone to continue onward and asked White which way to go.

Ch. 1871Seedbed of Artifact Species (7)

White led the group toward a passage on the second-to-last level that connected the prison to the island, while the group discussed Scarlet Fever and the possibility that it had been deliberately spread. The infected prisoners began stirring in their cells, and White revealed a spark at the wall only ten steps away.

  • White proposed going deeper, and the group followed him toward a passage leading directly to the island.
  • White told Jill that the passage was on the second-to-last level and said the Siren had no way to suppress Scarlet Fever.
  • White argued that the infection had likely been spread deliberately, and An suggested An Jing could be responsible.
  • White said the Night Watcher would not interfere with what happened on the island, and Madam An admitted her connection to An Jing.
  • Prisoners began striking their cell doors as An asked how far the passage was, and White said it was about ten steps away before a spark drifted from his fingertips to the wall.

Ch. 1872Artifact Seedbed (Eight)

Fu Qian and the survivors followed White through a hidden passage into a darker level of the prison, where they found one of White’s people in severe distress. White approached the injured man after confirming he was one of his own.

  • Fu Qian praised the flame trick as it blasted through an ice-enchanted stone wall and revealed a hidden stairway.
  • White led the group down the stairs, while Fu Qian reflected on the curse affecting him and his reasons for staying with the survivors.
  • A scream echoed through the lower level, and White led the group toward its source.
  • At a fork in the corridor, Li broke through an undecorated wall and revealed a badly twisted man in prison clothing.
  • Jill identified the man as one of White’s people, and White confirmed it before approaching him.

Ch. 1873The Seedbed of Artifact Species (Nine)

Fu Qian and the group encountered a grotesquely mutated prison guard, which Fu Qian destroyed, then explained that the creature had contained two people. White led them to a door-shaped opening blocked by a cold, crystalline wall that seemed to conceal an endless sea.

  • Jill observed that the blood-covered prison guard's body was less decayed than expected, and White called out to it.
  • The guard convulsed and a Scarlet Angel rushed toward White, but Jill restrained it until Fu Qian smashed it apart.
  • Fu Qian sensed that destroying the Scarlet Angel had not removed the oppressive presence seeping into the surroundings.
  • Jill asked Fu Qian what had happened, and he said the monster had been two people.
  • White led the group to a door-shaped gap in the wall, where they found a crystalline barrier resembling an endless deep sea.

Ch. 1874The Seedbed of Artifact Species (10)

Fu Qian and the group discovered that the passage to the island had vanished, leaving them trapped as Scarlet Fever spread. As they considered relying on Old Master Lu, Madam An suddenly attacked White with crimson strands, leaving the group facing a new danger.

  • Fu Qian and the others found a towering black wall of frozen seawater where the passage to the island should have been, and White confirmed there was no other route through it.
  • The scholar suggested taking their time to search for another exit, but Li warned that he, Jill, and White might not survive long enough to do so.
  • Fu Qian said he could withstand Scarlet Fever for more than two hours but could not cleanse it for the others, and he revealed that the Return Edict had failed against the curse.
  • White questioned Fu Qian about his motives, but Madam An suddenly seized him from behind as crimson strands burst from her body and entangled him.

Ch. 1875Seedbed of Artifact Species (11)

Madam An merged with White, whose transformed body claimed the survivors were not suffering ordinary corruption but were surrounded by a special Supernatural Power. As the group struggled to understand his explanation, he revealed that he was An and that White was dead.

  • Madam An grabbed White’s hand, and their bodies began merging as Jill warned Li to stay away.
  • The Scholar urged the survivors to run, but the joined figures spoke calmly and said they did not need to devour or merge with anyone.
  • An White told the group that their condition was not corruption and urged them to take control of their true selves.
  • Fu Qian sensed that the transforming figure’s divinity was rising, while Jill questioned what he was.
  • An White declared that he was An and that White was dead, then twisted White’s head off and said he had failed to control an impulse at the beginning.

Ch. 1876Artifact Species Seedbed (12)

An transformed after accepting the Scarlet Fever and merging with the Scarlet Angel, becoming at least a demigod while retaining her abilities. She offered to help the others undergo the same transformation, and Fu Qian asked what would happen to La Nina.

  • An explained that she had initially struggled to accept the Scarlet Fever, then destroyed White’s body and absorbed the Scarlet Angel.
  • An demonstrated her retained power by sending a gray-green fireball at Fu Qian, who caught and blocked it with his enormous hand.
  • Jill and the others realized An had become a demigod, while Fu Qian recognized that a ritual throughout the prison had enabled her transformation.
  • Madam An offered to help the others experience the transformation, and Fu Qian asked her about La Nina.

Ch. 1877Artifact Seedbed (Thirteen)

Fu Qian pressed An for information about La Nina, then attacked when she could not provide a convincing answer. An vanished in a burst of supernatural flames that afflicted the scholar, and Fu Qian suspected the disaster had awakened an Apocalypse Knight; he then addressed someone hidden beyond the ice wall.

  • Fu Qian asked An about La Nina, but she said she did not know and offered to bring White back for answers.
  • An grew White's head beside her own, and it claimed it could change its name to La Nina.
  • Fu Qian attacked An, whose wound erupted with fiery wisps that engulfed the area before she disappeared.
  • The scholar was struck by the flames and began coughing as if suffering from a supernatural disease, while Jill watched in alarm.
  • Fu Qian reflected that An's and White's conditions resembled those of the legendary Apocalypse Knights, then spoke toward an empty spot by the ice wall.

Ch. 1878The Seedbed of Artifact Species (14)

Fu Qian faced a Plague Dragon that had taken on An’s voice and form, while Jill, Li, and the scholar fled its attacks. The Wriggling Seed burst from the dragon’s belly and pierced An, interrupting its assault on Fu Qian.

  • An’s voice came from the frozen wall, and a gray-green mass of cold surged out as Jill, Li, and the scholar retreated.
  • The scholar showed Jill and Li his purification charm, then watched as green-flame-like moths engulfed Fu Qian in explosions.
  • Fu Qian’s Blood Conquest withstood the moths, and the creature transformed into a Plague Dragon made of crimson threads.
  • The scholar collapsed after looking at the dragon’s Mythical Form, while Fu Qian endured its black breath and sensed death accumulating on him.
  • The Wriggling Seed tore open the Plague Dragon’s belly and pierced An as it emerged.

Ch. 1879Seedbed of Artifact Species (15)

The narrator tracked down the Plague Knight using a Wriggling Seed planted inside it and fought it while its hatchling tore through its body. After killing it, the narrator learned that the prison was transforming into a place where the Apocalypse Knights could emerge, possibly with help from a person’s own will.

  • The narrator sensed the Plague Knight through the Wriggling Seed, which had hatched inside it and was attacking its host.
  • The narrator split Madam An in two and tore off the Plague Dragon’s left wing while questioning the Plague Knight.
  • The Plague Knight began disintegrating, and the narrator used Internal Organ Critical Hit to destroy it.
  • The Plague Knight vanished into its surroundings, while the narrator sensed a hidden force surge and disappear with it.
  • The narrator concluded that the underground prison was transforming and that a person’s will might help an Apocalypse Knight come into being.

Ch. 1880The Seedbed of Artifact Species (16)

Fu Qian warned Jill and the others not to accept the Scarlet Fever as a last resort, while a supernatural plague spread through the area after Ann’s death. Jill offered to help him find La Nina in exchange for protection, and Fu Qian disappeared after acknowledging a possible link.

  • Jill saw that Ann had vanished, and Fu Qian said her will still protected them.
  • A green-tinged plague spread through the ice wall and the surrounding area, making Jill, Li, and the scholar cough.
  • Fu Qian said the plague spread on a supernatural level and advised the group to replenish their health, but refused to help them directly.
  • Fu Qian warned the group not to accept Scarlet Fever and said he would kill anyone who did.
  • Jill offered to help Fu Qian find La Nina in exchange for saving them, and Fu Qian acknowledged a causal link before vanishing with Blood Conquest.

Ch. 1881Seedbed of Artifact Species (17)

Fu Qian descended to the prison’s lowest level and used Glorious Tyrant and Law Remnants to provoke the mysterious force transforming the prison. The crystal growths formed a doorway, and a white streak attacked him as the chapter ended.

  • Fu Qian concluded that La Nina might be known by another identity and decided to search the prison while keeping Jill and the others from making matters worse.
  • He traveled to the lowest level, transformed with Glorious Tyrant, and sensed that the prison’s existence was fragile and connected to a powerful ritual.
  • Fu Qian activated Law Remnants and drew the hostility of the hidden force in the prison.
  • Crystal curtains grew together to form a circular doorway, shifting from an ominous glow to green tinged with white.
  • A white streak shot through Fu Qian’s position for what he counted as the fifth time.

Ch. 1882Seedbed of Artifact Species (18)

Fu Qian was trapped in a sealed space by the White-hot Knight, whose blinding sword strikes wounded him. Fu Qian punched through the knight’s strange crystalline body and answered the knight’s retreat with a swarm of tentacles, leaving their fight underway.

  • The White-hot Knight appeared and struck Fu Qian with a five-hit flurry that wounded him despite his Blood Conquest state.
  • The White-hot Knight carved through the surrounding space, forming a barrier that trapped Fu Qian inside a box-shaped prison.
  • Fu Qian deactivated Blood Conquest and met the knight’s next flurry with a punch that pierced his armor and body.
  • Fu Qian sensed that the White-hot Knight’s body was made of crystal-like grains rather than ordinary flesh and blood.
  • The White-hot Knight wounded Fu Qian again and forced him back, so Fu Qian unleashed hundreds of tentacles enhanced by Dimensional Poison.

Ch. 1883Seedbed of Artifact Species (19)

Fu Qian fought the White-hot Knight inside a confined space, where the knight’s crystal-shattering counterattack badly wounded them both. After the knight revealed that he was protecting the seedbed from desecration and beheaded himself, he returned as a purer, more destructive white force, and Fu Qian faced his next attack.

  • Fu Qian’s tentacles and claw overwhelmed the White-hot Knight, but the knight drove his weapon into the ground and shattered everything in the confined area into crystal grains.
  • Fu Qian escaped the collapsing space and saw that the knight was riddled with wounds that leaked crystal sand and showed no signs of healing.
  • Fu Qian taunted the knight in an attempt to learn what he was protecting, and the knight said the seedbed must not be defiled or desecrated.
  • The White-hot Knight cut off his own head and held it aloft, transforming into a purer white presence that could no longer speak but attacked more destructively.
  • Fu Qian met the knight’s intensified attack with a prepared punch and assessed how his body responded.

Ch. 1884Artifact Seedbed (Twenty)

After defeating the White-hot Knight, Fu Qian examined the permanent changes the knight left in the prison and considered their connection to the seedbed and an ancient crystalline power. He found no one on the level and flew upward to search for the Third Knight.

  • Fu Qian assessed the White-hot Knight's final attack, which vaporized his right arm and shoulder, and thanked the vanished knight for the fight and the information he had revealed.
  • The prison's glow changed, and Fu Qian discovered that twinkling stars left by the White-hot Knight could cut anything between them and impart a weaker crystalline effect.
  • Fu Qian considered whether the crystalline power was connected to the Nameless deity's tomb on Leaf Island and wondered where the Apocalypse Knights had come from.
  • Fu Qian covered his exposed body with blue-black fishlike scales and searched the silent level, finding no people, Scarlet Angels, or sign of Virgo La Nina.
  • Fu Qian activated Blood Conquest and flew upward to look for the Third Knight.

Ch. 1885Seedbed of Artifact Species (Twenty-One)

Fu Qian met the Third Knight, a hooded man who called himself the Wanderer, after his Scarlet Fever worsened. The Wanderer explained that he had left his cell to search for his missing wife, and Fu Qian suspected Jill had opened the door while looking for La Nina.

  • Fu Qian found that his right hand had not recovered and Scarlet Fever had advanced, though he had kept his items.
  • Fu Qian met a hooded man emerging from a cell and identified him as the Third Knight, then introduced himself as a sinner.
  • The Wanderer said he did not know why he had been imprisoned and had left because the cell door was unlocked.
  • The Wanderer told Fu Qian that he had been searching for his wife for years and had smelled a woman while his mind was muddled.
  • Fu Qian suspected the Wanderer had smelled La Nina and that Jill had unlocked his cell while searching for her.

Ch. 1886Seedbed of Artifact Species (Twenty-Two)

Fu Qian fought the Wanderer Knight, whose strange power healed his wounds by spreading pain and corruption into his surroundings and opponents. The Wanderer Knight prepared to attack again but suddenly faltered, leaving the reason for his hesitation unclear.

  • Fu Qian inferred that Jill had opened the cell while searching for La Nina and that the Wanderer Knight had appeared as the Scarlet Angel's anchor.
  • Fu Qian asked the Wanderer Knight about his wife, then claimed he had met her and that the scent in the cell was not hers.
  • The Wanderer Knight struck Fu Qian with a ghostly claw that inflicted a wound which immediately healed while spreading corruption through Fu Qian's body.
  • Fu Qian counterattacked and mangled half the Wanderer Knight's body, but the knight healed by radiating his pain into the surroundings.
  • The Wanderer Knight returned, praised Fu Qian, and said killing him might reveal clues about his wife, but his next attack faltered as he began to say, "How could you—".

Ch. 1887The Seedbed of Artifact Species (23)

Fu Qian discovered that he could imitate the ronin’s suffering aura and use it to neutralize the Third Knight’s threat. After questioning the ronin about his past and missing wife, Fu Qian revealed that he was also searching for La Nina, leaving the two with a possible shared lead.

  • Fu Qian recognized the ronin’s aura as connected to the Abyss and learned to radiate the same power, making the Third Knight’s death claw disappear.
  • Fu Qian asked whether the ronin had searched the Abyss for his wife, and the ronin said she would never go there.
  • The ronin admitted that he had searched for his wife for many years but could not remember her name or what year it was.
  • Fu Qian said he had sensed a woman in the prison and revealed that he was searching for La Nina, who was hiding somewhere.
  • The ronin said that if Fu Qian had not seen La Nina, she might still be his wife.

Ch. 1888Seedbed of Artifact Species (Twenty-Four)

The narrator enlisted the Wanderer to search for Virgo La Nina, but the Wanderer discovered there was no other woman and turned on the narrator. He used his power to push the narrator toward the abyss, leaving the narrator on the verge of falling back into it.

  • The narrator recruited the Wanderer to search for Virgo La Nina and asked him to use his sensitivity to women’s scents.
  • The Wanderer crushed his own head with a death claw and radiated pain to deepen his connection with the prison and search for the hidden woman.
  • After healing from the injuries, the Wanderer accused the narrator of lying because there was no other woman and said, “Die.”
  • The Wanderer’s power transformed the narrator and brought the narrator close to the abyss.
  • The Wanderer said, “Gate,” and the narrator began sinking toward the abyss as a pair of frog eyes appeared again.

Ch. 1889The Seedbed of Artifact Species (Twenty-Five)

Fu Qian reversed the corruption drawing him toward the Abyss, but the Wanderer succumbed and left behind another deadly aura. Suspecting that Jill might be hiding Virgo La Nina, Fu Qian confronted her in the prison.

  • Fu Qian turned accumulated corruption into wounds and escaped the Abyss’s pull while the Wanderer’s corruption became irreversible.
  • The Wanderer was engulfed by charred substance and melted into the ground, leaving behind a new aura of pain and bloodshed.
  • Fu Qian reasoned that the Wanderer’s failure to find another woman might mean La Nina was hidden within someone he had already examined.
  • Fu Qian found Miss Jill gasping for breath on a stone step, and she looked at him with shock and fear.

Ch. 1890Seedbed of Artifact Species (26)

Fu Qian weighed whether Lady Jill was hiding Virgo La Nina and decided to use Clear Dream to pressure her as a possible host. He found Jill and the Scholar in poor condition, learned Li had gone off alone and that their search had failed, then turned his attention to Jill.

  • Fu Qian considered killing Lady Jill to test whether Virgo La Nina was hiding inside her, but decided Jill might be more useful alive.
  • Fu Qian activated Clear Dream and returned to Jill and the Scholar, who noticed his missing hand and battered appearance.
  • Jill told Fu Qian that Li had gone off alone and that she and the Scholar were both in poor shape.
  • Jill reported that they had searched many cells and executed three monsters but found no clues about Virgo La Nina.
  • Fu Qian suggested that Jill herself might be the problem and used Clear Dream’s pressure to make her examine herself.
