Early morning in New York, the streets were packed with vehicles, a ceaseless flow of traffic. When the red light turned on, drivers stopped on both sides of the road to wait for the green. As the light turned green, cars surged forward like a tide, heading toward work and school. The city's clamor gradually intensified as people darted quickly through the streets. A busy and vibrant city had begun a new day.
Inside the office of Hawke Group, Nathan Hawke sat in his custom-made executive chair, leisurely sipping milk tea.
A "beep" sounded from outside.
Andrew floated in, looking refreshed, and collapsed directly onto the sofa.
"I can only say, it was f***ing awesome."
Andrew was still savoring the feeling, his face full of intoxication.
Intense collisions, exploration.
If Nathan Hawke hadn't called him, Andrew would have gone wild.
Sleep in the morning, wake up, and get to work!
All kinds of roles, actions, get to work!
The nights were "happy parties," a carnival for a group of people. Get to work!
"You were right, I'm getting a bit bored."
Andrew suddenly felt a sense of weariness.
Nathan Hawke could only shake his head speechlessly, sipping his milk tea while watching him.
Young people are like this, unrestrained, enjoying themselves crazily.
This reminded Nathan Hawke of the night he summoned Andrew.
Tattered clothes, an unyielding posture.
The summoned Andrew was covered in injuries, so he had Wesker come over to take him to Umbrella Corporation for treatment.
Andrew.
The protagonist of Chronicle.
The story of an introverted, inarticulate nerd who became the best among his peers with superpowers. His abilities kept growing, but ultimately, his unrestrained behavior led to destruction. The story tells us that undisciplined behavior can cause irreversible consequences for oneself and others, so one must maintain self-discipline while enjoying freedom.
But the truth is.
After Andrew recovered, the first thing he said was.
"I want women."
Whatever.
It wasn't until today, when Nathan Hawke finally couldn't stand it anymore, that Andrew obediently returned.
Disobedient?
Wesker had already taught him a lesson.
Besides, having money to fund his lifestyle was indeed quite nice, so Andrew accepted it with peace of mind.
"So, today is the day you're performing a summoning?"
Andrew crooked his finger, and a cup of milk tea prepared for him flew toward him.
He took it and began to sip.
"I knew it, you still need yours truly to make an appearance." Seeing Nathan Hawke's indifferent gaze, Andrew shut his mouth.
A moment later, an awkward smile appeared on his face.
"Even without me, you'd be fine."
"I get it, I get it, making friends, right? If they don't listen, just beat them up."
Nathan Hawke walked to a corner of the office and tapped his finger.
An elevator appeared inside the wall.
Andrew followed behind Nathan Hawke as they descended rapidly.
They arrived underground and walked into a sealed area.
The summoning began.
The light of the hexagram lit up.
Andrew's eyes widened, watching every detail.
Then, the light faded.
"Where's the person?"
Andrew looked at Nathan Hawke in confusion.
He desperately wanted to blurt out what was on his mind, but the moment he remembered the person in front of him was his boss, he tightly sealed his mouth with telekinesis.
"Where is the person?"
Andrew couldn't help it anymore and asked loudly this time.
"Up ahead."
Nathan Hawke said calmly.
"Up ahead?"
Andrew was even more bewildered. Up ahead? He wanted to retort, but he kept his mouth shut.
Nathan Hawke glanced at him indifferently.
Andrew felt incredibly uncomfortable under Nathan Hawke's gaze, as if a snake were slithering across his body.
"Focus your mind and use your Psychic Power to expand your senses. You will be able to discover the unnatural elements there."
Before Nathan Hawke had even finished speaking, a surge of Psychic Power radiated outward.
Through the feedback, Andrew immediately detected the anomaly.
"There." Andrew pointed in a specific direction at once.
"Uh, hey there." A voice drifted over, yet no figure could be seen.
"Show yourself."
Nathan Hawke's flat voice rang out once more.
Raising his hands, Translucent immediately appeared naked before the two of them.
Translucent. A member of The Seven from The Boys.
His superpower was invisibility, allowing him to vanish from the material world and remain unseen by anyone.
Translucent's personality was reserved and introverted, and he was not particularly skilled at social interaction.
But all of that changed once he turned invisible.
Peeping, audacity, perverted desires, and the thrill of spying on female bodies—that surge of wicked intent would erupt, impossible to suppress.
"Whoa!!!" Andrew let out an exclamation of shock.
"Uh." Translucent felt a bit embarrassed. If it had been a woman, he would have been happy to show off his masculine prowess, but the Nathan Hawke standing before him made him think of that "crazy" Star-Spangled Man.
He followed quietly behind the two, sheepishly exchanging glances with Andrew.
They returned to the top floor together.
After putting on the suit that had been delivered, Translucent sat quietly to the side, feeling restless.
He looked up at Andrew, who seemed completely unbothered, then snuck a peek at Nathan Hawke.
"Under normal circumstances, I am a very easy person to get along with." Nathan Hawke's voice sounded.
Upon hearing this, Translucent's PTSD flared up; he was genuinely terrified that his new boss's eyes would glow red and fire a laser beam.
"Boss, hello. I am Translucent; as the name implies, I am 'invisible'." With that, he used his ability once again.
Then, Translucent reappeared, looking at Nathan Hawke in front of him with trepidation.
"Would you like a drink?" Nathan Hawke picked up the milk tea that had been prepared for him.
"Thank you, Boss." Translucent immediately reached out with both hands to take it respectfully, took a small sip, and placed it on his folded legs.
"Your name in this world will be Alex Hassel. Someone will be assigned to help you get familiar with this place." Nathan Hawke pressed a button on the phone beside him.
Before long, a tall, beautiful woman appeared before Nathan Hawke.
"Boss, what do you need me to do?" the woman asked with a smile.
"Jenny, this is our new team member, Alex. Take him around to get familiar with the place and help him integrate into our team as soon as possible," Nathan Hawke instructed.
"Understood. Alex, come with me." Jenny turned to Alex and waved a friendly gesture.
"Thank you, Boss." Translucent's eyes suddenly lit up as he stared at Jenny's stunning figure.
Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his brain.
He hurriedly looked at Nathan Hawke and noticed the icy coldness radiating from his eyes.
That gaze made Translucent swallow hard.
"Do not touch the employees in this company. You can find others with Andrew later."
Translucent could no longer suppress his shock as he looked at Nathan Hawke. Nathan Hawke's words had actually appeared inside his own mind. He nodded hurriedly and followed Jenny out of Nathan Hawke's office.
Seeing that the matter was settled, Andrew also wanted to leave.
"No rush."
Andrew saw only a cold, indifferent gaze, which made goosebumps break out all over his skin.
Inside Hawke Group's Combat Laboratory, Andrew was slammed hard against the wall by Nathan Hawke, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
Nathan Hawke descended slowly from above, looking down at Andrew, who lay on the ground.
"Look at your combat awareness, your application of Psychic Power, and your mental perception. Your performance right now is absolute trash."
Andrew gasped for air, neither refuting nor daring to refute.
"If you had focused your mental energy, you could have easily discovered the invisible Translucent at the time, yet I had to make you use your Psychic Power to expand your senses. Do you know why?"
Facing Nathan Hawke's interrogation.
Andrew froze for a moment, then nodded.
"Whether you know or not, it doesn't matter. Go to Umbrella Corporation and find Wesker. I will have him train you. When the time comes, I will find you an opponent."
Watching Nathan Hawke walk out of the Combat Laboratory.
Andrew wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.
"Young Master." The butler produced a handkerchief and handed it over, saying respectfully, "Justin Hammer has sent an invitation."
"Let's go."
Hammer Industries.
"Haha, let me see who it is. The helmsman of Hawke Group, Nathan Hawke."
"Justin, what do you want with me?" Nathan Hawke went straight to the point.
"Look, great news. Huge news. Lady Luck is smiling upon us."
Justin Hammer was as excited as a child, dancing about as he placed a newspaper in front of Nathan Hawke.
The entire front page featured a handsome, mature man.
"SHOCKING!!! The smartest man of the 21st century, Tony Stark, has mysteriously gone missing."
"Acquisition! Acquisition! Acquisition! I want to acquire Tony Stark's company."
Justin Hammer spat as he spoke, his excitement palpable.
"Will his godfather agree? He guards against you like a hawk. As for the retail investors' shares, do you really think you can get your hands on them?" Nathan Hawke's words made Justin Hammer calm down instantly.
"Then I will suppress them ruthlessly. I want to make their stock market value plummet."
A sinister smile appeared on Justin Hammer's face.
"You will make a move too, right?"
Justin Hammer looked at Nathan Hawke with a smile.
"Every major company has already made their move; surely you haven't sat this one out?" Nathan Hawke's question made Justin Hammer pause.
Then, he burst into laughter.
Watching him build his mansion, watching him feast his guests, watching his building collapse.
"That's right, I've received word that every major company is using every trick in the book, frantically suppressing Stark Industries' stock. According to the news I've received, that dear godfather of Stark is currently swamped, desperately feeding their investors empty promises."
The two had a very pleasant meeting; Justin Hammer was practically high on the conversation.
Mainly, Justin Hammer found the sudden disappearance of Tony Stark and the chaos at Stark Industries to be completely shocking. He had originally been jealous and resentful of Stark Industries' massive orders and new weapons. That position should have been his; he should have been the one to go.
He never expected.
He never expected!
That it would turn out like this.
That it would be this way!
He had decided.
Justin Hammer made a snap decision, picked up a lollipop, unwrapped it, and put it in his mouth.
"My Hammer Industries will also develop a new missile."
"Just like a famous Cuban cigar."
"The Ex-Wife missile."
"EX-Wife."
Getting into the car.
Nathan Hawke gazed at the bustling traffic and skyscrapers of New York.
Who could have guessed that in a few years, this place would be a battlefield against an alien?
Once the Iron Monger goes online, the plan will officially commence.
Opening the project file.
"Superhero Project"
That's right.
Based on the capabilities of his Golden Finger.
Nathan Hawke had formulated this plan.
Influence, he needed influence.
Super Kid, Andrew.
Translucent, Alex Hassel.
They were all part of the plan.
