Background / History

Uncle Jiu arrives at the Longevity House with Daoist Priest Four-Eyes after five Black Zombies are slain. Initially unwilling to believe Lin Fan was responsible, he personally questions him and examines the aftermath of the Five Thunders Spell. 3 4

Lin Fan's successive breakthroughs—from Houtian Fifth Heaven to Houtian Seventh Heaven—leave Uncle Jiu shocked but deeply gratified. Believing an immortal or ancestral master has blessed his disciple, he regards Lin Fan as a great fortune for both himself and Maoshan. 6 10

He accepts Ren Fa's request to oversee Old Master Ren's reburial, identifies the grave's flawed “Dragonfly Touching Water” feng shui, and recognizes that the corpse is mutating into a zombie. When Ren Fa refuses cremation, Uncle Jiu arranges to keep the coffin at the Mortuary while seeking another burial site. 10 11

During the Ren family crisis, Uncle Jiu leads purification rituals, deploys protective talismans, investigates the Prosperity Flower, and pursues the forces manipulating the Ren family. He later returns to find Lin Fan has slain both the Purple Zombie and the Xiantian fifth-layer evil cultivator, leading him to conclude that an Ancestral Master possessed Lin Fan and used Purple Heaven Divine Thunder. 7 14 22 23

Personality

Uncle Jiu is stern, practical, and highly protective of his disciples. He quickly recognizes danger, whether from Qiu Sheng's depleted Yang energy, a mutated corpse, or an enemy's deception, and responds decisively. 12 15 22

He disciplines Wen Cai and Qiu Sheng sharply for carelessness, yet his concern is evident: he personally investigates threats to them and rushes back to Ren Manor when he believes Lin Fan and Qiu Sheng are endangered. 12 17 22

Though usually composed, Lin Fan's extraordinary growth repeatedly overwhelms him. He takes immense pride in his eldest disciple and becomes unusually boastful while recounting Lin Fan's achievements to Daoist Priest Four-Eyes. 17 23
