The Lei Family's Plot

As the various factions arrived and collected their identity tokens, the Hunt Competition truly began. Holding the Lin Family's identity token, Lin Dong entered the forest.

"Looks like the Lei Family is up to no good," Lin Mu sneered. He noticed that one of the Heavenly Yuan Realm experts from the Lei Family's seats was missing. There was no need to guess where he had gone.

Lin Mu quietly withdrew as well, entering the forest from another direction.

He noticed that few of the people entering the forest traveled alone. They formed groups of two or three, all understanding that being alone put them at a great disadvantage.

Lin Mu leaped across the treetops. With his strength, it was utterly impossible for those at the Body Tempering Realm to discover him.

"Found him!"

Not long after entering the forest, Lin Mu found the trail of the Lei Family member. The man was searching for something, and Lin Mu guessed that he was most likely looking for Lin Dong, intending to assassinate him in the forest.

Although doing so would leave behind plenty of evidence, as long as they denied everything afterward, there was nothing the Lin Family could do to the Lei Family unless they were willing to completely fall out with them.

"Resorting to such despicable means... it seems the Lei Family has been driven into a corner." Lin Mu sneered. His and Lin Dong's rise had put enormous pressure on the Lei Family. Otherwise, the Lin Family would not have been so desperate as to jump over the wall.

Lin Mu did not immediately kill the Lei Family member. Instead, he continued searching for Lin Dong, intending to strike only when the other party made his move. That way, he would have an excuse, and a far more convincing one at that.

Ever since entering the forest, Lin Dong had encountered several groups trying to steal his identity token. In the end, he had taken their tokens instead. He was currently resting beneath a tree.

Swoosh!

Just as Lin Dong closed his eyes, the sound of something tearing through the air rang out. An arrow suddenly shot toward him.

Lin Dong jolted awake and grabbed the incoming arrow in one swift motion before hurling it back in the direction it had come from.

The arrow flew into the undergrowth. A nimble figure sprang out and landed on a tree trunk, staring warily at Lin Dong. It was a woman dressed in animal hide.

Her skin was bronze, and the animal hide she wore accentuated her exquisite curves, carrying a wild, alluring charm.

"If you're after my identity token, you've picked the wrong target," Lin Dong said with a smile. He was now at the middle stage of the Earth Yuan Realm. Other than some formidable Demonic Beasts, he feared no one.

"You're Lin Dong, aren't you?" the young woman asked, her voice slightly husky.

"You know me?" Lin Dong was somewhat surprised.

"Hehe, I was the one who told her." At that moment, a laugh suddenly sounded nearby. Leaves rustled, and a figure appeared before Lin Dong. It was Wu Yun.

"What are you two doing?" Lin Dong asked. He knew Wu Yun, and they got along fairly well.

"Don't misunderstand. I've come to ask you to cooperate with us," Wu Yun said.

"Cooperate with me? With your strength, obtaining ten tokens shouldn't be difficult, should it?" Lin Dong said. There was no need for cooperation in something like this.

"We discovered a Fire Python Tiger that has just given birth, along with three cubs," Wu Yun said.

"An adult Fire Python Tiger is comparable to a Heavenly Yuan Realm expert. Even if it has just given birth and is weakened, it isn't something we can handle," Lin Dong said.

"Don't worry. That Fire Python Tiger has already suffered severe injuries and won't live much longer. Lei Li and the others found it too, and they're waiting for it to breathe its last," Wu Yun said.

"In that case, it is worth considering." Lin Dong fell into thought.

"There happen to be three cubs. The three of us can each take one. Once they grow up, they'll be comparable to Heavenly Yuan Realm experts," Wu Yun said.

"Alright." Lin Dong nodded.

"The Lei Family's rat really did come for Xiaodong." Hidden in the shadows, Lin Mu saw that the Lei Family member had indeed approached. He held a bow in his hand, aiming at Lin Dong.

Swoosh! An arrow shot straight at Lin Dong.

Lin Dong's hairs suddenly stood on end as he sensed an extreme danger. Yet his body could not dodge in time. Just as the arrow was about to strike him, a pebble hit it, knocking it from the air.

"Someone really is trying to kill me this time!" Lin Dong cried out, ducking behind a tree trunk. Such an arrow could never have been fired by someone at the Body Tempering Realm or Earth Yuan Realm.

"Damn it! It must be someone from the Lei Family or Xie Family. They actually dared to send one of their clan's experts into the forest. Aren't they afraid of the wrath of the Lin Family and Savage Blade Martial Hall?" Wu Yun said angrily.

After thinking it over briefly, he had guessed most of what was happening. He had been dragged into this disaster as well. The other party clearly had not come for him, but since he was here, they would certainly kill him to silence him.

"It actually missed!" The Lei Family man, Lei Xing, was equally shocked. His arrows could never miss. Someone had clearly intervened to save Lin Dong just now.

"You dared to come here and assassinate someone from my Lin Family. You've got quite the nerve." Lin Mu's voice suddenly rang out behind him. Lei Xing did not even turn around, immediately sprinting forward.

For someone to appear behind him without making a sound, they had to be stronger than him. Years of experience told him to run.

"Trying to leave? It won't be that easy."

Lin Mu swiftly gave chase and caught up to Lei Xing within a few breaths, striking his back with a palm.

"Pfft!"

Lei Xing spat out a mouthful of blood. His internal organs had already shattered. He cast one unwilling glance back, and when he saw Lin Mu clearly, the shock in his heart deepened. Before he could say anything, his life force completely faded away.

"Why has there been no movement for so long?" Lin Dong hid behind the tree, already prepared to launch a sneak attack. He knew he would only have one chance to act.

"Xiaodong, come out." Lin Mu's voice drifted over.

"Big Brother!" Hearing Lin Mu's voice, Lin Dong was overjoyed. He stepped out from behind the tree and saw Lin Mu holding a burly man in his hand. The man was clearly dead.

"Big Brother, why are you here? Was he the one who tried to kill me just now?" Lin Dong asked in quick succession.

"I saw this fellow sneaking into the forest, so I followed him," Lin Mu said, tossing Lei Xing's corpse onto the ground.

"Big Brother, this guy was a Heavenly Yuan Realm expert, wasn't he? You actually killed him." Lin Dong said in shock.

"He's Lei Xing of the Lei Family. He became a Heavenly Yuan Realm expert years ago." Wu Yun walked out as well. He recognized Lei Xing.

"Big Brother, what level of strength have you reached now?" Lin Dong asked curiously.

"You'll find out soon enough." Lin Mu smiled.

"The Lei Family broke the rules, so there is no need for them to continue existing. If you run into Lei Li and Xie Yingying later, don't hold back. It's time for Qingyang Town's skies to change." Lin Mu's expression then turned cold, radiating a chilling aura.

The Lei Family had sent someone to assassinate Lin Dong, so now they had an excuse. The Lei and Xie Families had reached the time of their destruction as well.

"Mm." Lin Dong nodded solemnly. He knew that if Lin Mu said this, he must have absolute confidence.

After speaking, Lin Mu leaped onto the treetops, and his figure soon vanished from sight.

"Lin Dong, I originally thought you were already a monster. But now it seems your big brother is the true monster." After Lin Mu left, Wu Yun draped an arm over Lin Dong's shoulder and laughed.

"You can still laugh at a time like this?" Lin Dong shot Wu Yun a sidelong glare.
