Background / History

In Chen Yi's previous life, he and Su Nuan climbed the ranks, joined RNG, and played for the club for seven years. Chen Yi recalls that the pair earned achievements for the organization but were ultimately banned, fined, burdened with a 50-million-yuan lawsuit, and denied wages under a claim of “non-malicious non-payment of wages.” This experience is the source of his lasting hostility toward RNG. 1

Before entering professional play in the new timeline, Su Nuan initially favors RNG because it reportedly offers newcomers up to two million yuan, compared with roughly 1.6 million from other teams. Chen Yi refuses the idea, citing its already-complete bottom lane and privately remembering the club's future contract and wage issues. 5

Public Match Against UZI

Chen Yi and Su Nuan encounter UZI in a public match. Chen Yi's level-one Twitch play forces UZI's Sivir to lose Flash after he evades Morgana's root, beginning their direct competitive rivalry. 8

2017 Spring Split Group Stage

RNG and Snake are placed in Group A. Anticipation for their match rises after Chen Yi's prior remarks against “dogs” are circulated online, while UZI treats the match as a revenge opportunity and declares his intention to kill Chen Yi sixteen times across two games. 29 49

Snake defeats RNG 2–0. In the first game, Snake's Draven gains an overwhelming lead and one-shots UZI's full-health Miss Fortune during a teamfight. 57 In the second, Chen Yi's Caitlyn and Su Nuan's Bard break RNG's defense; Snake aces RNG and ends the game with Baron-empowered minions. 65 The loss ends against an undefeated Snake side and leaves RNG's players stunned. 66

LPL Spring Split Finals

RNG returns to face Snake in the Finals, presented as a team that has endured defeat and rebuilt itself. 141 The series becomes UZI's chance to reassert himself as the LPL's top ADC. 142

RNG falls behind by two games, then regains momentum when UZI's signature Vayne secures its first victory of the Finals. 153 In the next game, however, Chen Yi purchases complete Vayne proficiency, dominates the match, and secures a Pentakill around Baron Nashor; Snake destroys RNG's nexus to claim the LPL Championship. 154 160
