Two-headed Wolf X Poachers

The forest was silent.

Everything around them seemed exceptionally quiet. Only the occasional wolf howl drifting over from afar brought a faint echo to the stillness.

Amid rustling sounds and the crack of branches underfoot, Kevin emerged. Jin strode boldly ahead of him.

Before long, the two arrived at a slope and crouched at its edge, watching the dark forest below.

And the lights that occasionally flickered within it—someone was moving through the forest below.

"There are four poachers. They have hunting rifles, and pistols tucked at their waists."

What? How could he see that?

Kevin's heart was full of doubt. It was pitch-black, with the forest blocking their view. He simply could not understand how Jin had seen anything under such conditions.

Even while they had been making their way here, he had been filled with questions.

Jin moved through the forest like a silent predator, as casually as if he were strolling through his own backyard.

Meanwhile, Kevin had been so careful that he probably looked full of openings by comparison.

A piece of equipment resembling binoculars was handed over. "Here. Use this to observe."

Kevin took it.

"Holy shit! What kind of black tech is this?"

He cried out in surprise, then was forced to lower his voice.

It was no wonder he reacted that way. The glasses were simply absurd. He had never used night vision equipment before, but he had at least seen it in all kinds of videos.

But after putting on these binocular-like night vision devices, it was as bright as daytime.

It was not using any sort of special optics to observe the night at all.

It seemed this world's technology was absurdly advanced in certain respects.

He began observing.

After watching for quite a while, he finally made out every one of them.

Their appearances matched what Jin had described.

"What are you going to do? Call the police? Or scare them away?" Kevin asked.

As Kevin observed, he failed to notice Jin glancing back at him in the darkness.

"I know where they're headed. We'll wait for them there. You can observe from the side."

Earlier, Jin had wanted to force Kevin into a fight so he could observe more, but he had abandoned that decision just moments ago.

Soon, led by Jin through a hidden path, they arrived inside a cave.

Kevin immediately caught a faint smell of blood, along with another, slightly different scent.

In the darkness of the cave, a wolf's head stretched out beneath the moonlight.

The most eye-catching thing was the silver, horn-like protrusion about a finger long growing from its head, faintly gleaming in the moonlight.

Kevin stared blankly. Even the slight fright he had felt at the wolf's sudden appearance faded away.

Was this right?

When the wolf fully crawled out, it became even less right.

Because it had two heads!

It was a Two-headed wolf, though only one of its heads had a horn.

Its silver-gray fur reflected the moonlight, beautiful enough to be called sacred.

Another wolf crawled out. This one was clearly smaller, and its horn grew from the other, right-side head. It was also shorter and rounder.

Several little figures ran out—a pack of Wolf cubs.

They too had two heads, but no horns.

This pack of Two-headed wolves did not seem hostile, though they were somewhat wary when looking at Kevin.

Then they gathered around Jin like pet dogs, surrounding him as they licked him and wagged their tails. The Wolf cubs even tried to climb onto him.

Faced with Kevin's inquisitive gaze, Jin stroked the wolf heads and said, "They're Two-headed wolves. They nearly went extinct a few years ago. We found the only pair and used technology to help them reproduce successfully, preserving their bloodline."

As he said this, pride and satisfaction were plainly visible on Jin's face.

Now Kevin knew how he was going to die, and why.

Poaching a creature that had nearly gone completely extinct—he really would not deserve sympathy if he died for that.

Jin continued watching.

Before long, the poachers arrived in the area.

"Boss, are we there yet?" one rather skinny poacher asked.

The man with a scar on his lecherous-looking face said impatiently, "Stop talking. We're almost there. It should be around here."

"I say we should just buy tickets and go Home. We can't get in touch with that sneaky Pretty boy anyway," said another young man with blond broom-like hair.

The last member passed by him. His expressionless, utterly ordinary-looking face said, "If we don't plan to stay in this line of work anymore, then sure, we can do that."

"Tch. What a boring guy," the blond broom-haired man said with little interest.

Whoosh!

A sharp sound tore through the air.

Something seemed to fly through the darkness. The broom-haired man was hit in an instant, his whole body thrown backward.

With a loud crash that pierced the night, he fell unconscious to the ground. His cheek had caved in, and a large amount of blood poured from his mouth.

"Careful!"

This four-man team was clearly well-trained. Almost immediately after the attack, they all found cover nearby.

One of them had already drawn his gun and fired toward the direction the attack had come from.

The piercing gunshots tore through the night.

Inside the pitch-black cave.

"Stop licking me."

As Kevin spoke, he pushed away the Wolf cub clinging to his shoulder.

He held the binoculars with both hands, staring intently into the distance without even blinking.

He had just watched Jin pick up something from the ground that looked like a stone and hurl it with force. The stone shot out like a bullet.

It struck one of the poachers directly. The impact had not pierced through him, yet it still sent his entire body flying three or four meters before he hit the ground. He did not look like he would be getting back up.

Then the others opened fire.

Jin casually picked up several more stones from the ground, as if he were out for a walk, and threw them.

This time, the commotion was even greater.

The stones shattered tree trunks, striking all the poachers hiding behind the trees.

Was that it?

Not yet!

Kevin saw that the man who seemed to be the leader had apparently blocked the attack that had come through the trees.

The previous stone had made him slide back one or two meters. He had blocked it with his arms crossed in front of him.

A voice drifted over, seemingly saying something.

But before he could counterattack or defend himself, another stone flew over. This time, there was not even a whistling sound.

In an instant.

The leader was sent flying four or five meters backward and smashed into a tree with a huge crash. It looked like he had lost the ability to fight as well.

Damn, what kind of martial arts novel was this?

Were those really stones he was throwing? Were they sure they were not bullets?

Judging from this fight and the fragmented memories in his mind, this was clearly not a normal world.

He had watched closely just now and seemed to have seen something flowing over that man's body. He could not see it clearly, only faintly.

Internal energy?

Or something else?

The view went dark.

"Hey, don't block it!"

He reached out and dragged away the Wolf cub that was blocking his view while licking the lens.

Perhaps because he had been a little rough, the Wolf cub let out a whimper.

A dangerous gaze settled on his head, making the back of his neck turn cold.

"Haha, your son is really cute, Brother Wolf."

Kevin laughed awkwardly and hugged the little Wolf cub he had just pulled away, stroking it.

The Wolf cub did not hold a grudge and began playing with Kevin.
