Background

Kevin awakens in the body of a dead poacher from the Kingdom of Ganyou. His consciousness is from another world, while fragments of the original Kevin's soul, emotions, and will remain connected to the body. Jin Freecss reveals that he killed the original Kevin and that Kevin's current existence resulted from the body's revival. 2 3 550

The original Kevin's criminal identity initially troubles him, particularly because he does not share the dead man's disposition. Biscuit later observes that, despite the original body's dark aura and criminal history, Kevin is reluctant to kill and does not behave like a criminal. 3 14

After discovering the former owner's laboratory and Alchemy Table in Saba City, Kevin begins researching Nen and potion-making. His obsession with alchemy, combined with the lingering post-mortem Nen in the body, becomes the foundation of Moment's Dream. 7 17

Kevin is analytical, practical, and highly cautious around unknown abilities. He studies opponents, assesses risk before acting, and avoids relying on power he does not fully understand. His refusal to immediately exploit Nion's prophecy reflects his concern over the hidden costs of exceptionally powerful Nen abilities. 32 84

Despite his strength, he prefers preparation, research, and controlled growth over reckless combat. He frequently restricts himself during training and Sky Arena fights so that his body can learn through experience rather than simply overwhelming opponents. 20 21 35
