At the edge of the Grand Tournament Arena.
Kevin and the others chatted as they drifted along on a floating platform.
In the center of the Arena, large numbers of creatures fought while some spectators roared wildly from their platforms.
Their platform drifted into the Rest Area.
There, Kevin saw the Knight Rank Red Spirit who had just been fighting in the center.
Besides that spirit, several other beings clearly belonged to the Possessed Spirits.
They were all Red Spirits, but interestingly, even these red spirits differed in color.
Some were lighter, closer to magenta, while others were so pale they were outright pink, giving them no trace of an evil air.
Only those with human forms were blood-red, every last one of them.
That was right.
Among these few Red Spirits, only some looked human. The others resembled different creatures.
Kevin remembered the most distinctive one after a single glance.
The spirit looked exactly like a mermaid from human stories, with features extremely similar to a human's, except for a fish tail, patches of scales, and other traits of marine creatures.
Another drew several extra glances from Kevin. This one had batlike wings and a hunched body, but thick arms and sharp claws.
Like a gargoyle. Very much so.
The resemblance to the Gatekeeper was fairly strong.
When the human-looking Red Spirits saw Kevin and Biscuit, they froze for a moment before malice began spilling out of them involuntarily.
That startled their companions beside them.
They reacted extremely quickly.
The mermaid-like companion lashed her tail into the companion beside her, sending him flying, then hurriedly bowed.
"My apologies, unknown Lord. There may be something wrong with my companion's condition."
The gargoyle beside her swatted away the human-looking companions on either side, one with each claw, then bowed as well.
