Hypnosis (Seeking collection, recommendation, monthly tickets, follow-up reading, investment)
"Mm. Although my Ki still isn't strong enough, at least my martial arts will remains, and my mental strength is strong enough. The Hypnosis I learned from Master Roshi isn't much use against the strong, but it's quite effective against ordinary people—especially simple hypnotic suggestions..." Naturally, Robet was behind all of this. It wasn't any impressive technique, merely a little hypnotic suggestion.
When Robet had learned that Master Roshi knew Hypnosis, he had traded dozens of collector's editions of Liu Xuande for Master Roshi to teach him this ultimate technique.
Although Master Roshi had worn a lecherous grin when teaching it, Roberta had never used Hypnosis to do anything bad!
What Robet displayed now was the most basic ability of Hypnosis: using mental power to make slight suggestions, guiding their current emotions and shifting their attention. Moreover, this shift was only temporary.
But these teenagers already had plenty of things on their minds. Once their attention had shifted elsewhere, even if they came to their senses afterward, they would not think too much about what they had overlooked before. At most, they would feel a little puzzled.
As for Hypnosis at its strongest, it could temporarily alter a target's understanding of certain things and could even weave a brief memory that fit the target's behavioral logic!
Yes, Hypnosis could not directly control every aspect of a target through hypnosis. After all, the mainstream power in Dragon Ball World was still Ki, while powers resembling willpower and mental strength had not been developed to such an extent.
Even so, using Hypnosis against ordinary people posed no problem at all. Expecting it to contend with genuinely powerful fighters, however, was obviously unrealistic, because true powerhouses possessed martial arts wills that were far too resolute to influence easily.
Take Vegeta, who had been controlled by Babidi. His pride and powerful will alone had been enough to block the controlling effects of the magic!
After Robet used Hypnosis to suggest things to the classmates around him, part of the trouble had been resolved. As for the other part, Okinja and the others had not come to school that morning, and no one knew what they had gone off to do. It was not until lunchtime that the three of them arrived at school aggressively.
Meanwhile, Robet was agonizing over how exactly he was supposed to handle lunch...
"Robet!" When Okinja and the other two found Robet, their eyes immediately lit up. The three surrounded him at once, blocking his path.
It was not as though no classmates had noticed, but none stepped forward. Okinja and his two companions were notorious as the three-man bully gang. Robet was not their only victim; many other students had been bullied and harassed by them as well.
The students felt only fear, wariness, and resentment toward the bully gang. Yet their feelings toward Robet, the one being bullied, were rather complicated—helplessness, powerlessness, sympathy, mockery, contempt... all sorts of things.
"Heh heh, Robet, come with me. I've got something to tell you..." Seeing that Robet made no attempt to run, Okinja chuckled, slung an arm around Robet's neck, and dragged him off to the side without giving him any say in the matter. Robet did not resist, because he also wanted to see just how evil this bully gang could be.
Before long, the four arrived at a corner of the school. People generally did not come here, and many had been dragged here by the bully gang to be taught a lesson. Once they arrived, the three bullies became even more arrogant, as though they had entered their home turf.
"Robet, you were pretending all along, weren't you?" Okinja shoved Robet toward the wall. The three surrounded him, staring at him with cold sneers as Okinja questioned him.
"Mm, perhaps." Robet shrugged. His gaze flickered slightly as he looked at the three, and after a surge of mental power flowed forth, he smiled.
"Still playing dumb with me? Beat him up!" Okinja flew into a rage at those words and shouted at his two lackeys. Then he kicked the nearby wall with all his strength. Once the pain registered, confusion clearly appeared on the faces of Okinja and the other two. Their bodies trembled slightly, and the anger in their eyes gradually gave way to clarity.
"This is still a little troublesome..." Robet sighed helplessly and increased his mental output. Okinja and the other two, who had begun to regain their senses, fell back into a hypnotic state, their eyes gradually filling with anger again.
"Hmph! Now you know how awesome we are, right?" Okinja glared toward the corner. From the three of their perspectives, Robet had already been beaten to the ground and was twitching in pain. They felt incomparably satisfied as they shouted at him.
"Yesterday, we saw you enter that eating contest and win a ten-thousand-dollar prize. I'm telling you now: hand that money over to us as protection money, or you'll get a beating like this every day!"
"What if I'm really good at fighting, and you're not my match?" Robet raised an eyebrow and suddenly asked.
"Really good at fighting?" The bodies of Okinja and the other two shuddered again. Clearly, the idea that Robet was good at fighting conflicted with their perception that they had already beaten him to the ground, once again shaking the effect of the Hypnosis.
"Good at fighting? You little punk, let's see just how good you are!" However, before the Hypnosis had completely worn off, Okinja suddenly bellowed. He pulled a handgun from his waist and sneered at the wall.
"This gun was originally prepared for your brother Clark. Last time, he took our punches without a scratch. I don't believe he can come out unscathed against bullets too!"
As Okinja's words fell, Ander and Alec behind him each pulled out a handgun as well. The three guns were different models and none looked particularly new. They had probably stolen them from their homes, which was also why they had not come in that morning.
"Then you're really mistaken. Bullets can't hurt him. Even switching to cannon shells probably wouldn't do much..." Robet scoffed at the three handguns and spoke disdainfully.
Mere handgun bullets could not even hurt him, much less Clark.
Still, Robet had not expected Okinja and the others to bring out guns to deal with him and Clark. If Robet and Clark had merely been ordinary people, then three handguns would have been a deadly threat to them!
That also meant that Okinja and the other two did not merely intend to extort money; they were contemplating taking lives as well. Even if they had not truly crossed that line yet, and the guns were primarily meant as threats, who could guarantee that, when things really came to that point, such impulsive people as Okinja and the other two would not actually pull the trigger?
"Mm, you brought me here to extort money from me. I refused, so you pulled out your guns to threaten me. Left with no choice, I agreed to hand over the prize money..." With that thought, Robet began weaving a hypnotic story.
"But the three of you came into conflict over how to divide the spoils. As the boss, Okinja believed he should get the biggest share. Ander and Alec thought that since they had guns too, why should they get so much less money? So you began drawing your guns and shooting at one another!"
