The Vanishing Angel's Blood
Jocelyn had been through quite a lot before, and when she first saw Robet, especially when she heard her daughter Clary's overflowing praise and affection for Robet, Jocelyn instinctively wanted to refute her.
But when Jocelyn saw Robet's gaze, he was instantly speechless. In Robet's eyes, Jocelyn saw a powerful sense of intimidation, a sense of intimidation stemming from Jocelyn's keen perception of the strong!
"Excuse me, why did you save us?" Jocelyn took a deep breath after regaining his senses and looked at Robet tentatively. Jocelyn didn't understand why a powerful person like Robet would save his daughter first and then rescue him from Valentine's clutches. What benefit did Robert gain from this?
Aside from the Holy Grail, Jocelyn couldn't think of anything else worth Robet's attention. Therefore, Jocelyn felt a mixture of wariness and resentment, because Clary had just revealed the Holy Grail's existence, making it difficult for her to conceal it further...
"I didn't intend to save you specifically. I just happened to rescue Clary from the Demon because the Angel's Blood led me there!" Robet shook his head, glanced at Jocelyn, and said, "However, you're quite strong, so why were you captured without any resistance? Aren't you afraid that something might really happen to Clary after you were captured?"
"Indeed, I wanted to ask that question too. If we hadn't shown up, Clary would have been dead for sure. As a Shadow Hunter, how could you not have left any backup plan?" Constantine nodded and echoed the question.
"..." Jocelyn, who was still asking Robet questions, fell silent on the spot, especially when she saw Clary's expression change slightly after hearing Robet and Constantine's words, looking at her with disbelief, which made Jocelyn even more at a loss for words.
Previously, Clary had never thought about why her mother was so easily captured, but now, after coming into contact with more and more extraordinary powers and awakening to become Shadow Hunter herself, Clary found it somewhat unbelievable that her mother had been captured.
Based on the available intelligence, Jocelyn wasn't captured by Valentine, but rather taken away by several assassins. This means that, theoretically, Jocelyn was capable of resistance. However, Jocelyn didn't seem to resist, nor did she seem to have left any contingency plans for Clary, as if she wasn't worried about Clary's safety at all...
"Didn't I call you then? I told you not to come over, to go find Luke... What's wrong with Luke?" Jocelyn sighed softly, then noticed Luke's body slowly recovering beside her and asked instinctively.
"He's alright, I'm healing him..." The Guardian shook his head and said softly.
"Even if I hadn't gone home and had gone to find Luke instead, I would still have been in danger. Luke is also being targeted by Valentine's men..." Clary said, looking directly into Jocelyn's eyes. "Aren't you even a little worried about my safety?"
"How could that be?" Jocelyn's expression changed slightly upon hearing Clary's words, then he sighed and explained softly, "You've awakened your abilities, but your strength isn't enough to unlock those past memories..."
"Actually, this isn't the first time you've awakened your abilities. You've awakened them before, but because the corresponding memories were sealed, your abilities were gradually forgotten..."
"However, when you encounter real danger, when your life is in peril, your abilities will reawaken and help you overcome the difficulties!"
"Are you that confident? I was almost eaten by Demon back then, and I didn't even awaken my abilities!" Clary frowned, looking at Jocelyn and pursing her lips. "Also, why did you seal my memories? What exactly did I go through before?"
A person's memory is of paramount importance, and may even relate to a person's perception of things and themselves. Hearing that her memories had been sealed, even if the person who sealed her memories was her mother, Clary still felt somewhat uncomfortable.
"At first, I wanted you to be an ordinary person, but then I discovered that your abilities are of great help in hiding the Holy Grail ..." Jocelyn avoided Clary's eyes and said in a low voice.
"So, I had you seal the Holy Grail, then took you to seal your memories, and entrusted the Tarot Cards to Witch who clearly harbored ulterior motives, because no one would believe that such a treasure as the Holy Grail was not only hidden within the Tarot Cards, but also entrusted to someone else for safekeeping..."
"Back then, did I agree to you sealing my memories?" Clary asked, staring directly at Jocelyn. To be honest, if Clary had the choice now, she would definitely not agree to sealing her memories!
If Clary agreed back then, it would mean that the current Clary is no longer the same person as the Clary before her memories were sealed.
"You agreed because I told you about the importance of the Holy Grail, and that after you awakened your abilities, many people would be watching us. We need to hide ourselves well and not let others notice your abilities, otherwise they will figure out how you hid the Holy Grail ..." Jocelyn paused for a moment, then looked up at Clary with some guilt and said.
"Heh..." A bitter smile appeared on Clary's beautiful face, and she made an ambiguous sound. At this moment, her worldview was shaken, even more so than the supernatural events she had encountered in the past two days.
"Heh!" Constantine, standing to the side, didn't have as many reservations as Clary. He laughed without any attempt to hide his laughter, his words full of mockery. "As a superhuman, you should know very well what memories mean to a person. And it seems you've sealed away quite a few memories, otherwise you wouldn't have been able to completely forget your awakened abilities!"
"I just thought she was unreliable as a mother before, but I didn't expect her to be this unreliable..." Robet nodded in agreement and said softly.
"Yes, it's just a Holy Grail, yet it requires such a high price. In a way, she has already killed her daughter's former consciousness!" Constantine shook his head as he looked at the silent Clary and said with some emotion.
"What do you know?! If the Holy Grail really falls into Valentine's hands, the consequences will be unimaginable. Valentine will become a terrifying Demon King, and he will summon the army of hell to directly occupy the earth!" Jocelyn's expression changed. She was afraid of Robet's strength, but not of Constantine. She glared at Constantine and said in a deep voice.
"So what? Even if Valentine gets the Holy Grail, so what? Summon an army of hell? Does he think all those powerful beings on Earth are just sitting around doing nothing?" Constantine scoffed, looking at Jocelyn with disdain. "You don't actually think your sacrifice is so noble, do you? It's just a Hell Demon King. There are more than just one or two people on Earth capable of dealing with Hell Demon King..."
"Furthermore, as a member of the Shadow Hunter lineage, you should know the location of Kamar-Taj and the Sanctum. Since you are so worried about the Holy Grail, wouldn't it be better to entrust such a dangerous item to Kamar-Taj for safekeeping?"
"..." Upon hearing Constantine's words, Jocelyn fell silent instantly. What a joke! This was a sacred relic of their Shadow Hunter lineage. Even if it were gathering dust in a corner, they would never hand it over to Kamar-Taj.
Yes, in Jocelyn's heart, the Holy Grail and the reputation of the Shadow Hunter were more important than Clary's memories.
"Forget it, this is their family matter, and it's not appropriate for us to interfere. Let's retrieve the Holy Grail first. Constantine, where is your Angel's Blood?" Robet's eyes flashed with disdain upon seeing Jocelyn's appearance, before he turned to Clary and Constantine and spoke.
"Angel's Blood? What are you going to do with it?" Constantine's eyes flashed with doubt as he tentatively asked, "Are you planning to use Angel's Blood to create a new lineage of Shadow Hunter? Or are you going to use Angel's Blood to grant her abilities?"
"How come you have such a wild imagination? I wanted to see if the Angel's Blood led us to Clary because Clary was special, or because of the Holy Grail. I also wanted to see if there would be any unexpected changes if the Angel's Blood and the Holy Grail appeared at the same time..." Robet glanced at Constantine with surprise, then shook his head and explained softly.
"Fine, with you as an outsider anyway, the value of Angel's Blood has plummeted. Do whatever you want with it!" Constantine shrugged and showed the Angel's Blood in his palm.
"I'm fine too!" Clary took a deep breath, took out the Tarot Cards from her bosom, and walked over to Robet, speaking softly.
"Wait! You can't hand the Holy Grail over to them. We don't know their origins or their purpose..." Jocelyn instinctively tried to stop Clary from shouting.
"The Holy Grail means nothing to them. Didn't you hear their attitude? The artifact you cherish is actually not that important!" Clary turned to look at Jocelyn and said seriously.
With a "whoosh!" sound, as Clary's voice fell, the Holy Grail in the Tarot Cards gradually materialized and slowly emerged from the Tarot Cards, looking exactly like the one in the painting, even in size.
Yes, the Holy Grail isn't actually that big; it's only slightly larger than a normal drinking glass, otherwise it wouldn't be able to be hidden in Tarot Cards.
With a "whoosh!" sound, the moment the Holy Grail appeared, the Angel's Blood in Constantine's hand simultaneously erupted, then flew out of Constantine's hand and disappeared into the Holy Grail.
"I knew there was something wrong with this Angel's Blood!" Constantine said in a deep voice, a cold glint in his eyes. Fortunately, he hadn't been superstitious about this Angel's Blood, otherwise he might have been tricked. After all, it's not just Demon who can trick people; Angel are never at a disadvantage in this regard either!
"Huh? That's it? And then?" However, to Robet and the others' surprise, after the Angel's Blood entered the Holy Grail, there was no further news, as if everything that had just happened was just an illusion, except that the Angel's Blood in Constantine's hand had truly disappeared.
"Really no reaction?" Robet frowned, took the Holy Grail from Clary's hand, and examined it carefully, but still couldn't detect anything unusual, not even a trace of extraordinary power from the Holy Grail. It was as if it were just an ordinary ornament.
But it's obvious that the Holy Grail, capable of absorbing the Angel's Blood, couldn't possibly be just an ornament.
"What do you know?" After studying the Holy Grail for a while, Robet handed it back to Clary and looked at Jocelyn and the Guardian with a frown.
"This isn't the way to use the Holy Grail..." The Guardian paused for a moment, then looked at Robet and said softly, "To truly use the Holy Grail, one must drip Angel's Blood or Demon Blood into Holy Grail, and then drink the blood that has been imbued with the Holy Grail's power to obtain the extraordinary power contained within it..."
"But just now, that drop of Angel's Blood went directly into the surface of the Holy Grail Holy Grail, not into it, so I don't know what happened..."
"Well, it seems the trail has gone cold here?" Robet's eyes flickered slightly, and he said with some disappointment. Robet had originally thought that he could find some more clues from the Holy Grail and the Angel's Blood, and thus deduce who the mastermind was, but now it seems that he can't do that.
Although it seems there are indeed problems with the Holy Grail and the Angel's Blood, unfortunately, those around them are unable to pinpoint the exact nature of the issues, let alone deduce any clues about the mastermind behind them.
Of course, Robet was certain at this point that the whole thing had little to do with the Demon. The Demon were probably just bait, used to draw attention away from the problem. The real culprit was the Angel!
After all, Demon are inherently restrained by the power of Angel, while Angel merely dislike the power of Demon, but they may still have ways to harness Demon power!
What Robet didn't know was that his guess wasn't entirely wrong. After Valentine, who had previously unleashed Holy Light power, disappeared, he appeared in a deserted place, his body surging with powerful energy, not only from Angel but also from Demon.
Around Valentine lay the corpses of Demon, their power continuously flowing into Valentine body. Most crucially, when Constantine's drop of Angel's Blood vanished into the Holy Grail, it appeared before Valentine, then merged into Valentine body. In an instant, Valentine's entire form underwent a dramatic transformation, enveloped in a cocoon...
