How? The final thought flashed through Taserface's mind. He could not accept this outcome at all, nor could he believe Yondu could truly control the Yaka Arrow in a situation where sound could not travel.
Because Yondu's Ravager crew had once encountered an enemy out in the universe—a band of powerful space pirates. They were a little stronger than Yondu's side, especially since the battle had taken place in space, without either side entering a ship.
Back then, Yondu had watched helplessly as large numbers of his men died at the enemy's hands, yet had shown no intention of using the Yaka Arrow at all. Afterward, Yondu had explained that he could not use the Yaka Arrow in environments where sound could not propagate, such as a vacuum—or rather, that he could not use the Yaka Arrow in any slightly harsh environment.
That included, but was not limited to, space, underwater, gale-force winds, sandstorms, and other hostile environments.
After hearing Yondu's explanation, the men who had originally borne a grudge against him all forgave him. After all, no one could have expected anyone to abandon their spaceship and start fighting directly in space. It had merely been an accident.
But Taserface had not forgiven Yondu so easily, because several of the underlings he had painstakingly trained had all died in that battle. He had silently noted Yondu's weakness, preparing to deliver a fatal blow when Yondu exposed an opening.
Only, Taserface had never imagined that the scheme he had hidden for so many years would be broken by Yondu so easily. Could this all have been Yondu's plot? Had Yondu started calculating against him from that battle onward?
Taserface never got to hear the answer to that question, and Yondu had no intention of paying him any attention. Until Taserface
