With the Ranking Assessment drawing near, Leiyin trained even harder.
Ever since Leiyin had injured Brannew with a single punch in the restaurant, Hina had started paying attention to him despite herself. After all, [Six Powers—Iron Body Fist] was something a second-class soldier simply could not master. Not to mention second-class soldiers—even among captains, fewer than one in ten knew Iron Body Fist.
Had Hina really seen it wrong that day? Hina wondered to herself.
On the eve of the Ranking Assessment, the Training Camp was conducting its daily swordsmanship lesson.
Major General Momousagi held the famous sword [Golden Prawn] and demonstrated a series of sword techniques for the cadets before sliding the blade back into its scabbard.
"All right, then, next..." Momousagi looked over the formation. "Hina and Leiyin, the two of you come up and spar. Stop once one of you gains the advantage."
Huh?
Why did it have to be him?
Watching Leiyin step out and stand opposite her, Hina's eyes were still filled with disdain. "Don't blame Hina if you get hurt later."
Leiyin said nothing in response. He merely held his sword and stood proudly in place.
"Hmph!" Hina snorted coldly, raised her sword, and charged straight at him. When she reached Leiyin, she brought the sword down in a vicious slash...
Leiyin, however, calmly sidestepped the attack and struck Hina in the back with his scabbard. Hina lost her balance and fell straight to the ground.
"Hahaha..."
Many of the cadets burst out laughing when they saw Hina's sorry state.
Hina was so furious that her lovely face paled. Ever since she had entered the Training Camp, when had she ever suffered such humiliation? A mere second-class soldier had defeated her in one move?
"The match is decided. The winner is Leiyin."
