Master Roshi continued, "However, you mustn't treat the Greatest Under the Heaven Martial Arts Tournament as your only goal. Setting your goal isn't that simple, either. Your aim isn't merely to participate in the martial arts tournament—you must train even harder."

After hearing this, Krillin became excited as well. "That's great! It would be amazing if we could participate!"

Kid Goku also looked delighted. "Are there lots of strong fighters?"

Master Roshi said, "Enough with the questions. You two have rested long enough, so get back to delivering milk. Don't even think about slacking off. Leiyin and I will be watching you."

With that, Master Roshi led them to a narrow single-plank bridge.

Kid Goku and Krillin carried the milk crates as they walked, all while keeping their balance. It was far from easy.

After crossing another stretch of rushing river, Kid Goku and Krillin were utterly exhausted.

When they passed through a dangerous forest and encountered several ferocious beasts, Leiyin and Master Roshi tried not to help unless absolutely necessary. Only when things became truly dangerous did they step in to assist their two disciples.

When they returned, the two set down the milk crates and collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily.

And so, the first day of formal training came to an end.

To help them achieve good results at the Greatest Under the Heaven Martial Arts Tournament, Master Roshi put them through even stricter training.

Today's task was plowing the fields.

The fields were enormous, stretching so far that they nearly disappeared into the horizon.

Leiyin stood beside Master Roshi with his arms folded.

Master Roshi sternly told his two disciples, "Start at once! What are you still standing around for? If you don't finish quickly, you won't get any food!"
