Everyone's eyes flickered, their lips curled in cold sneers.
What was bound to come had finally arrived!
The village's favors were not so easily taken. As for what to do next, that still depended on Uchiha Jin's plans.
Everyone turned their gaze toward Uchiha Jin, and he did not waste any words. "Yashiro-sama, you'll be in charge."
"Me?" Yashiro was somewhat stunned.
Uchiha Jin slowly nodded.
A faint smile appeared on his face before he spoke with a chuckle. "You're one of the leaders of the Moderate Faction. The village isn't very wary of you, so your appearance can lull them into complacency."
"Also, take twenty Genin squads with you and set up the initial framework for the Konoha Military Police Force."
"Remember, if anything unexpected happens, there's only one solution... stall!"
"If the Hokage holds you accountable, say that the clan has just relocated and everything is still rather chaotic, so we can't spare any more manpower for the time being."
"If the village keeps pressuring you, tell them the Uchiha are willing to give up the Konoha Military Police Force. Whichever Shinobi Clan wants to take it over can have it."
In the past, Uchiha Jin had worried over who could take on this mess.
After all, he needed to restore his Dojutsu Power every day, manage the clan's affairs, contend with the village, and keep the overall situation under control. He could not possibly devote all his energy to the Konoha Military Police Force.
But now? Perfect!
Since both the Moderate Faction and the Middle Faction had come over to his side, handing this matter to the Moderate Faction would work even better.
As for that—
Although Uchiha Yashiro had little confidence, he ultimately accepted the burden.
"Alright, understood."
"I'll strictly follow Jin's instructions and do my best to handle the Konoha Military Police Force's affairs."
Time slowly passed.
Although the Uchiha had changed clan grounds, they quickly settled down again.
After all, compared to the clan grounds at the edge of the village where they had only lived for a few years, they had lived here far longer.
Uchiha Jin had practically gone into seclusion.
Other than setting aside two hours every day to practice ninjutsu and loosen up a little, he spent nearly all his remaining time at home.
All for one purpose—restoring his Dojutsu Power!
During his previous clash with Danzo, in order to completely intimidate the village higher-ups, he had used nearly three percent of his Dojutsu Power.
To ensure that he could remain at his peak at all times, he needed to fully recover that Dojutsu Power.
As for the friction between the village and the clan, he would only ensure that the overall situation did not go wrong. He had largely delegated the minor details to those below him.
If another Shinobi Clan had received such authority, those beneath him might have been delighted.
The Uchiha were an exception!
No matter which faction they belonged to, they were almost all single-minded. They could fight and kill on the battlefield, but they truly could not handle clerical work.
If Uchiha Jin had not forcibly demanded it, they would have genuinely wanted to quit!
Especially the Konoha Military Police Force!
There had once been Fugaku, who, though indecisive, was at least somewhat steady. Now that Uchiha Yashiro had replaced him, even though he was a Moderate Faction member himself, the mountain of documents had nearly driven him berserk.
Eight in the morning, Konoha Military Police Force.
Uchiha Yashiro had just sat down in his office when someone below knocked on his door.
Hearing the knock outside, the corner of his mouth twitched, and a headache began to rise.
But, alas!
After a helpless sigh, he spoke listlessly.
"Come in!"
"Yashiro-sama!"
An Uchiha Genin walked in, then immediately dropped to one knee. "Those troublesome civilians have come to ask about the outcome of the case again. Are we still going to keep putting them off?"
"This case is actually very clear. It's just someone eating without paying. Everyone knows that local thug. Can't we just arrest him?"
The Genin struggled to maintain his composure and was practically on the verge of tears.
That was right!
Uchiha Jin's new regulations had tortured them to the point where they wished they were dead.
Problems that could normally be resolved with ease now had to go through a complete set of enforcement standards, leaving this group of illiterates completely dumbfounded.
As for that—
Upon hearing this, Uchiha Yashiro said in a drawn-out tone, "Do you have evidence?"
"This..." The Genin was helpless and simply gave up. "A lot of villagers saw it happen!"
Uchiha Yashiro rolled his eyes. "Then go find the people who were there, take their statements, and have them sign and stamp them."
"They're unwilling." The Genin shook his head.
Uchiha Yashiro continued, "Then persuade them!"
"I can't persuade them!" The Genin was about to cry. "No one is willing to testify!"
"Eating without paying is a minor matter. At worst, he'll be detained for a month before getting out. Those villagers don't want to testify because they're afraid that thug will come after them once he's released."
"That's where this case is stuck!"
The Genin immediately poured out his grievances.
But unfortunately—
Uchiha Yashiro had heard enough over the past few days to nearly throw up. Before the Genin could finish, he cut him off.
"Alright, shut up!"
"There's no point telling me this. Elder Jin set these rules, so follow them."
"If you can't persuade them, then keep persuading them!"
"As long as our Konoha Military Police Force is making an effort, that's enough. As for whether the case can truly be resolved in the end, did I ever issue a strict order saying it had to be handled within a certain number of days?"
"Just take your time with it!"
The Genin looked completely bewildered, and he desperately wanted to curse.
Yes!
The higher-ups had not set any KPI, but those troublesome civilians were blocking the entrance to the Konoha Military Police Force every day. It was giving him a terrible headache!
He instinctively said, "But..."
"No buts!" Uchiha Yashiro cut him off. "It's settled. Get out!"
The Genin had a bellyful of words, but in the end, he could only swallow them back down.
Finally, alas!
After a helpless sigh, he could only leave helplessly.
Watching the office fall silent once more, Uchiha Yashiro relaxed considerably and could not help letting out a long sigh.
What a headache!
Unfortunately—
Before he could finish lamenting, the familiar knock sounded again.
Veins bulged on Uchiha Yashiro's forehead.
"Come in!"
"Yashiro-sama, I—"
"Did you take statements? Did you find evidence? Did you complete the case-handling procedures?"
"Th-that's... no!"
"Get out and handle the case according to procedure!"
"But—"
"No buts. Get out!"
Immediately afterward—
The Konoha Military Police Force member who had just entered swiftly rolled right back out of the office.
Ten minutes later.
The familiar knock sounded again.
This time, Uchiha Yashiro had been completely driven mad. He no longer had the demeanor of the Moderate Faction and instead threw open the door himself and roared.
"Take statements! Find physical evidence! Find witnesses!"
"Until you've completed the procedures, no one is allowed to come bother me in my office!"
"Get out! Get out! Get out!"
"Get the hell out of here right now!"
"If I see you bastards again, I'll roast you little turtles with a Great Fireball!"
Before you continue
