At the witch's words, Rhine's cheek twitched.
Well, well. A limited card pool, huh?
But after the lessons of his previous life, Rhine had no interest in collecting cards.
When he was young in his previous life, he had also been obsessed with collecting Water Margin Cards from packets of crispy noodles. But he quickly discovered that the Jade Qilin Lu Junyi card was incredibly rare—no one at several nearby schools had one.
It was not until Rhine once traveled out of town and casually bought a packet of crispy noodles that he finally got the Jade Qilin he had dreamed of.
Back then, Rhine thought he was the Child of Destiny. Only after growing up did he learn that those damn profiteers distributed cards by region and batch, with every region having one or two cards that were absurdly scarce.
But elsewhere, those same cards might have been common as dirt.
The Chocolate Frog card scheme in the wizarding world was probably much the same. Rhine did not want to get fooled a second time.
Ron, however, was clearly tempted.
"I've collected nearly five hundred cards. I'm only missing Agrippa and Ptolemy."
"Give me ten packs..."
Ron clearly wanted to buy ten packs at once, but after feeling the money pouch in his pocket, he cut himself off.
"Forget it. Give me one pack."
Harry was also fascinated by collecting cards.
Before coming to the wizarding world, he had never had pocket money, much less bought snacks for himself.
But now, he had a small fortune in his underground vault at Gringotts, and his pockets were full of coins.
As he looked at the dazzling array of snacks, a secret thought stirred in his heart, one he might not even have noticed himself—he wanted to comfort the version of himself who had never had snacks to eat.
They might not be especially delicious, and Harry was not a greedy or gluttonous child, but buying such a feast might ease some of the resentment and envy he had carried for eleven years.
That was why Harry reached out and bought all kinds of snacks from the witch. In particular, he scooped up a full twenty packs of Chocolate Frogs, which Ron was eyeing eagerly.
He paid the witch fourteen Sickles and eight Knuts, quite a bit more than in the original story.
Ron stared fixedly at the mountain of snacks.
Hermione was also planning to buy some from the witch, but Rhine stopped her.
Rhine said with a smile, "Harry looks like a little rich kid, but the rest of us are strapped for cash. Hermione, Ron, let's shamelessly mooch off Harry's snacks."
"You don't mind, do you, Harry?"
A delighted expression appeared on Harry's face.
This was exactly what he wanted. He had never shared anything with anyone, nor had anyone ever shared anything with him.
Rhine's suggestion made Harry feel wonderful.
Rhine continued, "But we won't eat your food for nothing, Harry. Hmm, I can give you signed books and photos together."
"Believe me, plenty of people in the Muggle world would fight over them."
Then he turned to Hermione.
"As for Hermione, she's an academic ace in every subject, the most knowledgeable Miss Know-It-All. I'd bet that once school starts, we'll be begging Hermione to help us with our homework."
Ron grew a little uneasy at that.
What did he have that he could offer in exchange?
Apparently, nothing. He wore old clothes handed down from his brothers. His pet was a rat they did not want anymore. Even his wand was secondhand.
The money he had brought was only enough for his everyday expenses during the term. There was no budget at all for buying snacks on the train, so his mother had packed him bulging sandwiches filled with corned beef, which he did not even like.
Ron quietly lowered his head, intending to say that he was sick of eating all this stuff.
But then Rhine said leisurely, "Ron, you've collected nearly five hundred cards? But Hermione, Harry, and I are all beginners."
"You must have loads of duplicates, right? If any of the Chocolate Frogs Harry bought give us those two cards you're missing, they'll be yours, so you can complete the set."
"In exchange, you can give us some of the cards you have lots of duplicates of. Then we can start collecting too."
Hearing this, Hermione, Miss Know-It-All herself, was still somewhat confused, but Harry was already the first to nod.
In fact, in the original story, Harry had noticed Ron's embarrassment. He offered to trade Ron a pie for a sandwich, and only then did they feast on the snacks together.
Ron raised his lowered head again, his face brimming with delight, practically glowing with excitement.
"That'd be brilliant! We can trade from now on."
"I've got loads of duplicate cards. I have six Morgana cards—enough for each of us to have one, with extras left over!"
Rhine smiled and gave him a thumbs-up.
"Just what you'd expect from a local wizarding-world resident."
Although he did not know exactly what Rhine meant, Ron still scratched his head and smiled sheepishly.
Soon, Hermione and Harry were laughing too.
As they ate snacks in the compartment, Rhine and the others listened to Ron talk about the wizarding world, especially Quidditch.
"Do you know about Flying Broomsticks? There's the Cleansweep series, the Comet series, and the Nimbus series. The newest Nimbus 2000 is the fastest Flying Broomstick!"
"When I have money, I'm going to buy a Flying Broomstick I like..."
At that moment, the compartment door was pushed open again.
Three boys entered. One had platinum-blond hair and an arrogant look on his face.
"Red hair, freckles all over your face. You must be a Weasley."
"Keep dreaming. The Weasley family has too many children to afford to raise. There's no way you can afford a Flying Broomstick. Maybe a secondhand one, at best."
The other two stood beside that boy like a pair of bodyguards.
Without question, this was Harry Potter's archrival at Hogwarts from the original story—Draco Malfoy.
Incidentally, the meaning of that name in Latin was outrageously cocky—I'm an evil dragon.
No wonder Ron had given a small cough upon hearing the name, nearly bursting out laughing.
But compared to children's squabbles, Rhine was more concerned with what reward Draco Malfoy would receive under the system's assessment.
This was Harry Potter's archrival, the noble bloodline of the Malfoy family. In the system's eyes, he could not possibly be some insignificant nobody, could he?
The reward ought to be quite impressive.
Would the system classify him as Huang Tianhua? He came from a noble background, was quite strong, and even had a "Huang" in his name, which matched Draco's blond hair.
Or perhaps Yang Jian? They did share something in common when it came to raising dogs, right? Yang Jian had one dog by his side, while Draco had two. It was not impossible for the system to identify him as Yang Jian.
Tu Xingsun was a bit of a stretch, though. While they did share the trait of being short, it still did not quite make sense. Surely not?
The next moment, Rhine looked toward the system's light screen, then froze.
?
What the hell?
Who the fuck was Chong Heihu?!
