Background / History
Hermione attended Pudding Lane Primary School, where she first saw Rhine Snow give a speech. She later went onstage after him and remembered the encounter, while Rhine recognized her when they met in Diagon Alley before their first year at Hogwarts. Flattered by his recognition and praise, she agreed to accompany him while he completed his school shopping. 12
During their day in Diagon Alley, Hermione helped Rhine shop, kept his near-modeling arrangement with Madam Malkin secret, and selected a gentle brown owl after Rhine insisted on giving her one as a gift. Their growing friendship allowed Rhine's system to identify her as “Young Deng Chanyu.” 13 14
Before term began, Hermione initially approached magical studies as a competition with Rhine. After witnessing his extraordinary memory and comprehension, she abandoned that rivalry and focused on learning from him. Over several days of study, she made major progress and grew familiar enough with Rhine that his family and hers teased their frequent meetings as dates. 21 22
The Gringotts incident transformed their close friendship into a Life-and-Death Friendship. Hermione fought Inferi, tried to reason with the Imperiused Florin Fortescue, and attempted to hold back the flames so Rhine could escape. Rhine instead forced a path through the fire to rescue her. 27 29
Hermione was sorted into Gryffindor after the Sorting Hat considered both Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, ultimately judging her courage more prominent than her thirst for knowledge. She was relieved when Rhine was sorted into the same House. 39
Appearance
Hermione is a young witch with thick brown hair, brown eyes, and prominent front teeth when she first meets Rhine. Before arriving at Hogwarts, she uses magic to smooth her hair and reduce the size of her front teeth, seeking to make a better impression. 12 37
- Thick, bushy brown hair, later made smooth and glossy with magic 12 37
- Brown eyes 12
- Previously noticeable rabbit-like front teeth, later reduced in size 12 37
- Wears an orange hair clip after improving her appearance for Hogwarts 37
- Uses a Tianshi robe and peachwood sword when employing cultivation techniques 232
Personality
Hermione is intensely competitive, studious, and proud of her academic ability. She initially believes she may surpass Rhine in magical studies, but accepts the gap in their abilities once she sees his knowledge firsthand. Rather than becoming resentful, she uses the opportunity to ask questions and learn, showing both intellectual humility and a powerful thirst for knowledge. 22
Her courage consistently outweighs her caution. She confronts Inferi, refuses to remain safely in Gryffindor Tower while Rhine is endangered by a troll, and is willing to stay behind amid a fire to cover Rhine's retreat. The Sorting Hat ultimately recognizes this bravery as more defining than her academic inclination. 28 39 52
Hermione is compassionate toward friends and victims, including Florin Fortescue while he is under the Imperius Curse. However, she is far less forgiving toward enemies: during the conflict with Slytherin, she fights older students, and she suggests escalating a prank against Slytherin players after they attempt to injure Rhine. 29 59 83
