At the Great Marsh, he witnessed Lü Dongbin slay a powerful flood dragon with a single sword strike and wondered whether the Daoist came from the Heavenly Court.

• Zhang Bairen and Yunhua traveled to Heavenly Pillar Peak to hear Taishang Laojun lecture.
• Zhang Bairen asked Taishang Laojun to take him as a disciple, but the Dao Ancestor said his opportunity had not yet come and chose Yunhua instead.

The real Tongtian Cult Master appeared, destroyed the formation, sealed Chen Xuan's powers, and left him in the Eight Immortals' custody as he urged them to gather and complete their merit.

• Lü Dongbin, Tieguai Li, and Han Zhongli searched the Tianyan World and found Chen Xuan near the Return to Ruins.
• Chen Xuan trapped the three in the Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation, and the system rewarded him with the full Four Swords of Zhu Xian.

After they reenacted and laid to rest the Witch-Demon war and Investiture calamity, a new Zhou dynasty rose in South Jambudvipa Continent as ancient powers remained hidden.
