Ch. 661Stele Spirit Fragments
Plot and events
- The White Tiger Legion clashes with a force of stele demons in the Heaven Stele Secret Realm. The legion’s armed armor, disciplined formations, and coordinated attacks let its soldiers withstand the demons’ strength and eventually kill the ordinary foes.
- Commander Ran Tu battles the seventh-order demon leader. Though his armor brings him to seventh-order power, the demon’s toughness, rapid regeneration, and mind-affecting roars make it difficult to defeat.
- A hidden, upper-seventh-order shadow demon prepares a deadly ambush against Ran Tu. Qin Tian destroys it with a lightning strike before it can attack, then Ran Tu exploits the opening to shatter the leader’s demon core and kill it permanently.
- Qin Tian examines the fallen demons’ talent orbs. The shadow demon’s gold-grade talent reveals how dangerous stealth-based enemies can be; the demons’ generally strong talents reinforce the threat they pose.
- The White Tiger Legion clears the battlefield without any deaths. Qin Tian heals its wounded and gathers the resulting stele spirit fragments, explaining that their size determines each camp’s contribution. Rather than absorb them for personal benefits, the group aims to collect enough for all their soldiers to receive the Heavenly Stele Light. The expedition then moves on.
Character developments and interactions
- Ran Tu proves himself a capable, aggressive commander, but the battle teaches him not to underestimate the demons. He thanks Qin Tian for saving him and recognizes that greater caution is essential.
- Qin Tian protects Ran Tu, assesses the enemy through its talent orb drops, heals the injured, and prioritizes the expedition’s collective objective over his own short-term gains.
- The generals, including Old Ghost, recognize that the demons are stronger than expected and take the possibility of overwhelming numbers seriously.
- Qin Tian’s intervention reinforces the trust between him and Ran Tu; Ran Tu’s report and the legion’s unified response show the discipline of the White Tiger Legion.
Significant themes
- Preparedness and teamwork: Armor, formation tactics, and coordination allow humans to overcome individually powerful enemies.
- The cost of underestimating an enemy: The legion wins, but its close contest with the demons exposes the risk of facing larger forces.
- Leadership and mutual responsibility: Qin Tian intervenes to protect a commander, heals the wounded, and directs the group toward rewards that benefit everyone.
- Collective goals over personal advantage: Qin Tian declines to absorb demon talents or fragments for himself, favoring the broader campaign’s rewards.
