In the little courtyard, Xiao Lan stood prettily in her emerald-green dress, her bright eyes fixed on Bai Yang, brimming with delight. The day he'd left, he'd said he'd be back that evening, but a few days had passed. She'd been so worried about him.
She held a white cloth in her hand. She'd been cleaning the room, but the moment Bai Yang returned, she'd hurried out to greet him.
Under Bai Yang's stunned gaze, Xiao Lan blinked and asked, "Young Master, is something wrong with me?"
As she spoke, she instinctively touched her cheek, thinking she might have smudged it while cleaning.

Bai Yang smiled and slowly crouched down, then pressed his ear to Xiao Lan's belly and listened carefully with his eyes closed. He moved so cautiously, as if afraid of disturbing something.
