Background / History
Bai Yang originates from Earth and gains the ability to travel between Earth and another world. Early in his travels, he relies on modern items such as an electric baton for protection while encountering the local mountain folk and barbarian tribes. 8
He becomes closely tied to Geduo Village and its inhabitants after providing weapons and armor in exchange for their service. Confused by local customs, he nevertheless accepts responsibility for the people who come under his protection, appointing Zhao Shi as captain of his guards. 36
Bai Yang adapts rapidly to the other world’s languages and culture. With his Enlightenment Fruit-enhanced memory, he memorizes 28,431 characters in one day and eventually masters nearly 600,000 characters across the Chen Country and Tianyuan writing systems. 108 109
As his strength and influence grow, he develops Gourd Valley into a major power base, gains recognition from the Chen Dynasty, and later becomes involved in conflicts spanning multiple dynasties, Earth, Tianyuan Star, and the outer-domain battlefield. He ultimately rises from a psychic cultivator to a Sage capable of influencing heaven and earth’s rules. 866 958 1294
Personality
Bai Yang is outwardly casual, sarcastic, and often irreverent toward powerful opponents. He uses humor and provocative remarks to unsettle others, including calling himself the “Unreliable Great Hero” and verbally dismantling enemies whose reputations or motives he finds objectionable. 317 925
He is highly pragmatic. Bai Yang is willing to negotiate, deceive, bribe, manipulate, or retreat when necessary, preferring preparation and asymmetric advantages over direct confrontation. His use of satellite-guided tungsten rods, formations, modern technology, and political alliances reflects this approach. 862 894 1217
Despite his ruthlessness toward enemies, Bai Yang repeatedly protects people under his care and accepts responsibility for harm caused by his actions. He saves civilians, supports his followers, compensates King Chen after absorbing the Dragon Vein, and risks himself to purify the evil energy within the Emperor’s Tomb. 947 1004 1005
