Background / History

Lan Xin is the daughter of Lan Qingfeng, patriarch of the Lan family, and the younger sister of Lan Shuang. She previously used the masculine alias Lan Xing, later becoming widely known to Bai Yang and others as “Brother Lan.” 64 315 320 She assisted Bai Yang’s operations at Red Rock Mountain, where he entrusted her with organizing its reconstruction and managing the arriving craftsmen. 152

While disguised as a man, Lan Xin was abducted by Yu Feilong, the “Flower-Pitying Young Master.” Yu Feilong sealed her cultivation and confined her on an island in Worry-Free Lake, but she resisted every attempt to court her until Bai Yang arrived. Once her cultivation was unsealed, she immediately seized Bai Yang’s hand and fled with him. 315 316

The Blood Lotus Sect calamity devastated the Lan family, leaving Lan Qingfeng, Lan Shuang, and Lan Xin as its principal surviving members. Lan Xin subsequently left Bai Yang to continue fighting the Blood Lotus Sect. 463 467 1038

Lan Xin is direct, self-possessed, and difficult to impress. She coldly rejected Yu Feilong’s romantic overtures, mocked his attempts to charm her through music and cultured accomplishments, and refused to be intimidated by her captivity. 315 She also adopted Bai Yang’s habit of misleading people with deadpan, unreliable remarks. 315 320

Around Bai Yang, she is informal and uninhibited, treating him as an equal rather than maintaining the reserved behavior expected of a noblewoman.
