In the Age of Sail, when sailing warships traded broadsides, their insufficient firepower meant long-range artillery fire could easily turn into close-quarters boarding combat.

In the Space Age, the long distances between combatants and the widespread use of precise, powerful space weapons left even less room for this kind of fighting. It had long since been all but forgotten.

But after the Empire's citizens completed Gene Evolution, their physical abilities underwent an unimaginable transformation—the ability to survive and move freely through space was only the beginning. They could casually wield objects weighing dozens of tons, as easily as picking up something at a supermarket.

Their minds rivaled personal computers, able to analyze complex mathematical formulas in an instant. Most terrifying of all were their fiber-optic nerves, which transmitted thought signals at the speed of light. This even let them dodge light-speed weapons like lasers from a considerable distance.

Their ultra-enhanced bodies could not only recover from near-fatal injuries, but also perform feats straight out of myth and legend: serving as both astronomical telescopes and microscopes to the naked eye, drawing on Stellar Energy to replenish their strength, and even eating rocks and other minerals for sustenance.

Against the Empire's formidable military, the advantages these superhuman traits brought were not especially impressive. After all, by now even the cannon fodder of the Imperial Army—the Regular Army—had to be Psionics of the Elite Tier. They, too, had completed Gene Evolution, and the combat boost from combining the two evolutionary paths was far more than a simple "1+1."

But the Empire didn't care. Director Liu did!

When he discovered that the Empire's immigrants commonly used boarding tactics, with minimal casualties and high
