What he faced was merely an Alchemical Creation with thoughts of its own—and one that held quite a grudge.
"Throughout the long river of history, why did you choose Lady Ravenclaw as your teacher?" The Bronze Eagle Head had never forgotten the small grievance of Ian having tricked it at the start of term.
"Because the facts have already been established. The House I attend is Ravenclaw House. From the moment I took off the Sorting Hat, I became Rowena Ravenclaw's student." Ian tried to explain causality to the Bronze Eagle Head.

"That makes sense, but it isn't enough."
The Bronze Eagle Head was clearly making things difficult for him.

"Because Rowena Ravenclaw would bring me back here, so that I could eventually meet you and experience your tenderness and thoughtfulness?" With no other options left, Ian resorted to a cheesy pickup line.
