Background / History
Ian began as a child supporting himself through fortune-telling. He possessed an Attribute Panel with no quests or guide, only measurable skill progress and Extraordinary Traits earned through hard work. His early panel listed Magic Power Level 4, Language Mastery, Biology Dissection, Free Fighting, Psychology, and the Extraordinary Trait Mind Perception. 1
Before attending Hogwarts, Ian lived in an orphanage and devoted himself to studying Latin and Roman languages to improve Language Mastery. He remained attached to the other children, particularly Catherine, and spent time playing football with them before leaving for school. 6
At Hogwarts, Ian was sorted into Ravenclaw and roomed with William Smith and Michael Jordan. He quickly became known for his magical aptitude, tutoring, business ventures, dangerous experiments, and unusual willingness to use Dark Magic without displaying the corruption that concerned Dumbledore. 56 74 160
Ian’s access to the Misty Illusion became central to his life. The realm allowed him to encounter souls, recover items, and enter distant eras and locations. Its shifting environments eventually exposed him to Soul Hall, the Raven identity, ancient gods, the origins of the Deathly Hallows, and time-displaced versions of Morgan le Fay, King Arthur, Merlin, and Death. 149 229 331
Following Helpo’s attempt to use Ian and Riddle as components in his ascension, Ian awakened as a Legendary Wizard and inherited Paradox Authority. He later traveled through King Arthur’s era, ancient Greece, ancient Egypt, an oppressive alternate technological world, and other historical or supernatural domains while gathering artifacts, researching origins, and repeatedly altering events that should have remained fixed. 209 218 343 347 367 411
Appearance
Ian is described as pale, with gray-green eyes and unusually strong night vision. 288 371
- His Raven Animagus form has ink-black feathers, sharp claws, a hooked beak, powerful wings, and heightened vision and sensitivity to air currents. 223
- His Raven form is recognized with fear and reverence by Dementors and Soul Hall entities. 223 229
- His right eye can display a silver-gray magical glow when using advanced power. 351 366
Personality
Ian is intensely curious, self-confident, and pragmatic. He seeks knowledge even when it is dangerous, from Resurrection Stone runes and forbidden alchemy to divine authority and the secrets of Soul Hall. He often approaches problems as research opportunities rather than prohibitions. 126 233 257
He is entrepreneurial and inventive, charging Ravenclaws for Potions tutoring, selling alchemical products, and constantly looking for practical or profitable applications for magic. 74 156
Ian can be compassionate toward victims, such as the polluted Ancient Spirits and the survivors of Rhodes Island, but he is also ruthless when he judges killing or intimidation necessary. He killed Aphrisin Carrow during the Ashwinder crisis and has repeatedly used Fiendfyre, Killing Curse variants, and other lethal magic. 83 349 441
He distrusts imposed destiny and divine authority. Though others repeatedly attempt to elevate him into a king, god, or savior, Ian insists on acting by his own judgment and encourages humans to take control of their own future. 185 349 354
