He stood up, gripped one of Hermione's arms, and stared at Harry. Harry hesitated slightly, then took Hermione's other arm. Together, they lifted Hermione's limp body onto Neville's shoulder.

"Wait,"

Harry said, snatching Hermione's wand from the floor and stuffing it into Neville's hand. "You'd better take this."

As they slowly made their way toward the door, Neville kicked his broken wand aside.

"My gran's going to kill me," he mumbled, blood dripping from his nose. "Th-that was my dad's."

Harry poked his head out through the doorway and carefully looked around.

The Death Eater with a baby's head was still shrieking loudly, constantly pounding and crashing into everything around him.

He knocked over a large grandfather clock, overturned a table, and cried out incoherently.

Behind them, the cabinet with glass doors kept falling and smashing to pieces before automatically returning to the wall and restoring itself. Harry guessed it contained Time-Turners.

"He won't notice us," Harry whispered. "Come on, stay close."

They crept out of the office and headed toward the door leading to the black hall, which now appeared to be empty.

They took a few steps forward. Carrying Hermione, Neville staggered unsteadily;

the door to the Time Room closed behind them, and the walls all around them began turning again.

The blow to the back of Harry's head earlier seemed to have dazed him.

He squinted and swayed slightly until the walls stopped rotating again.

The burning X Hermione had left on the door had vanished, and Harry's heart sank.

"Now, where do you think we should go—"

Before they could decide which door to try, a door on their right suddenly flew open, and three people tumbled out.

"Ron!"

Harry rasped, rushing toward them. "Ginny—you're all—"

"Harry,"

Ron grinned weakly and stupidly, stumbling forward to clutch
