Background / History
Kong Huai was the previous generation’s Holy Son of the Dao Yi Sacred Sect. His performance at the Myriad Races Grand Gathering a thousand years earlier helped establish the sect’s standing as a top power for the following millennium. 305
As sect master, he became the master of Su Changqing and Ling Qianxue. In the original timeline described by Su Changqing, Kong Huai raised both from childhood and treated them as his own children. 66
Before obtaining the Indestructible Scripture, he had already spent years stalled at Supreme Great Perfection. The technique, passed to him by Su Changqing, became the basis for his later surge in combat ability and his pursuit of the Quasi-Emperor realm. 339 354
Appearance
Kong Huai appears as a middle-aged scholar with a gentle exterior and an imposing, deeply authoritative presence. He wears black robes that add to his reserved and mysterious bearing. 115
- Deep, unreadable eyes. 115
- Scholar-like appearance contrasted by a naturally intimidating aura. 115
- Usually composed and restrained, but becomes expressionless and cold in battle. 339
Personality
Kong Huai is fiercely protective of the Dao Yi Sacred Sect and its disciples. When Geng Mohan intervened against Su Changqing, he suppressed the guardian through a phantom manifestation and authorized Su Changqing to kill him, declaring that the sect would face war with the Undying Demon Race if necessary. 64 He later rejected the Undying Old Man’s recruitment without hesitation, placing loyalty to his sect above longevity or personal power. 340
Though strategic and politically perceptive, he is openly ambitious for the Dao Yi Sacred Sect. He sought to use the Myriad Races Grand Gathering to establish the sect as the foremost force in the Nine Profound Realm and to lead the future allied army against the Great Tribulation. 306 380
He takes immense pride in Su Changqing and is willing to learn from his own disciple, even if it reverses their expected master-disciple roles. His eagerness to advance can make him reckless, particularly when cultivating the complete Indestructible Scripture despite its severe backlash. 359 406 415
Abilities & Skills
Supreme Cultivation and Combat
Kong Huai is a Supreme Great Perfection cultivator whose combat ability rose dramatically after studying the Indestructible Scripture. 339
- Manifested phantoms across vast distances, including one that suppressed Geng Mohan during Su Changqing’s duel with Xiang Yuan. 64
- Intercepted the Supreme Qiu Yao and nullified the pressure directed at Su Changqing. 268
- Battled alongside the North Nether Holy Master against the Undying Old Man and his Heaven Burial Divine Art. 338 339
- Slaughtered more than one hundred divine beasts, each comparable to a Supreme Ninth Heaven expert, during that battle. 339
- Was later believed by other major powers to possess Quasi-Emperor-level strength, though this remained an external assessment rather than a confirmed breakthrough. 383
Indestructible Scripture
Su Changqing taught Kong Huai the Indestructible Scripture, a technique that compensates for flaws in his cultivation and improves the fluidity of his divine abilities. 339
- Greatly enhances battle power without necessarily changing his nominal realm. 339
- Allows him to absorb Heaven Burial Qi, an energy ordinarily corrosive and lethal to living beings. 344
- Strengthened his physical body to the point that it approached the Quasi-Emperor level. 380
- Enabled him to resist the immobilizing Heaven Burial aura and drain energy from the manifested Heaven Burial Great Tomb. 344
- The complete scripture is dangerous for him to view directly; exposure caused his eyes to explode and his body to bleed as he attempted to adapt to its principles. 401 406
- Su Changqing limits his cultivation of the complete version to once per day because further exposure is potentially fatal. 415
Leadership and Political Strategy
Kong Huai is a capable organizer who sees the coming Great Tribulation as both a danger and an opportunity to unite the Nine Profound Realm. 305 306
- Proposed the Myriad Races Grand Gathering to coordinate the realm’s forces against external threats. 305
- Initially suggested joint leadership among allied powers to prevent the Dao Yi Sacred Sect and Northern Underworld Sacred Land from clashing internally. 306
- Included the Youhai Demonic Sect in the proposed alliance, arguing that the distinction between righteous and demonic paths was irrelevant before a realm-wide catastrophe. 306
- Later openly asserted that the Dao Yi Sacred Sect should become the primary power and overall commander of the Nine Profound Realm Allied Army. 380
- Ordered scouts from numerous factions to attend the Myriad Races Grand Gathering, using the Dao Yi Sacred Sect’s growing influence to secure compliance. 463
Equipment
- Dao Yi Sword — The Dao Yi Sacred Sect’s Emperor Weapon. Kong Huai wielded it against the Undying Old Man’s divine beasts, using swift sword strikes to break their formation and kill them in succession. 339
Relationships
- Su Changqing — His Holy Son and disciple; Kong Huai treats him with paternal care, protects him without reservation, and takes great pride in his achievements. Su Changqing taught him the Indestructible Scripture. 66 339 359
- Ling Qianxue — Dao Yi Sacred Sect Saintess and Su Changqing’s fellow disciple. In the original timeline, Kong Huai raised her from childhood alongside Su Changqing. 66
- North Nether Holy Master — Friend, ally, and political rival. They competed over leadership of the coming alliance but later fought together against the Undying Old Man. 305 306 338
- Su Qingyun — Leader of the Great Feather Divine Dynasty and an allied Holy Lord; Kong Huai formalized an alliance with his dynasty. 163 378
- Demon Lord — Leader of the Youhai Demonic Sect and an ally in Kong Huai’s proposed realm-wide coalition. 306 378
- Undying Old Man — Enemy and Supreme Ranking’s first-ranked figure. Kong Huai rejected his offer to join the Burial Heaven Gate and fought him to protect the Dao Yi Sacred Sect. 338 340
- Qiu Yao — An old rival who reappeared to target Su Changqing; Kong Huai personally intercepted him. 268
Story Role / Major Arcs
Undying Demon Race Conflict
Kong Huai intervened when Geng Mohan attempted to protect Xiang Yuan from Su Changqing. He suppressed Geng Mohan through a phantom manifestation, endorsed Su Changqing’s execution of him, and accepted the risk of war with the Undying Demon Race. 64 When Xiang Jun publicly declared the two factions irreconcilable enemies, Kong Huai answered that the Dao Yi Sacred Sect would meet him at any time. 67
Myriad Heavens Tower
After warning Su Changqing that unprecedented changes and conflicts with other worlds were approaching, Kong Huai supported his disciple’s decision to enter the Myriad Heavens Tower. 187 He attended the event alongside other Supreme experts and watched over Su Changqing’s progress, hoping the tower’s trials would reignite his disciple’s fighting spirit before the coming chaotic era. 203 217
Formation of the Realm Alliance
Kong Huai proposed convening the Myriad Races Grand Gathering to unite the Nine Profound Realm against the Great Tribulation. Although he first advanced a joint-leadership model to avert conflict among allies, he intended for the Dao Yi Sacred Sect to become the realm’s leading power. 305 306 Following the destruction of the sect’s original mountain gate, he led its disciples to Heavenly Saint City and secured the formal participation of the Northern Underworld Sacred Land, Great Yu Dynasty, and Youhai Demonic Sect in the alliance. 378
Battle with the Undying Old Man
When the Undying Old Man blocked the Dao Yi Sacred Sect and threatened Su Changqing’s group, Kong Huai joined the North Nether Holy Master in deploying their sect-protecting Emperor Weapons. 338 Empowered by the Indestructible Scripture, he cut down divine beasts on a massive scale and later absorbed Heaven Burial Qi from the enemy’s great tomb to reinforce himself. 339 344 The confrontation destroyed the Dao Yi Sacred Sect, but its disciples survived, while the Undying Old Man was forced into self-destruction and escape. 357 383
Pursuit of the Quasi-Emperor Realm
The Heaven Burial Qi he absorbed loosened Kong Huai’s long-standing cultivation bottleneck and gave him a path toward the Quasi-Emperor realm. 354 After receiving the complete Indestructible Scripture, he continued attempting to reshape his body despite the technique’s violent side effects, becoming increasingly anxious to keep pace with Su Changqing’s extraordinary growth. 406 415
