Inside a spacious training room on the tenth floor of the Eastsea City Spirit Pagoda, a six-year-old boy sweated profusely.
He tempered his body, but even the coach teaching him did not dare place too heavy a training burden on Li Jinsheng.
Yet after three months of training, he had witnessed the boy's bizarre changes. The child's physical strength seemed to have no bottleneck whatsoever.
Although his muscles had not grown much, his physical strength had risen in an almost straight line.
"Stop, stop. That's enough training for today!" Seeing the terrifying physical talent of this six-year-old, the coach could not help feeling regretful. What a pity he did not have a Body Martial Soul.
His name was Yu Jun. Though he possessed a Body Martial Soul, the organ corresponding to his martial soul was not particularly important—merely his right hand.
Still, with the strength of a Soul Emperor, he was more than qualified to serve as a tutor for wealthy young masters in Eastsea City, where Soul Master resources were not especially abundant.
Li Jinsheng stopped his exercise and set down the two dumbbells in his hands, each larger than his head. The floor immediately trembled.
"Only training for this long?" The boy felt that he could keep going, but since the coach said his training was over, he definitely would not overtrain.
For the rest of the time, he planned to study his own Element Martial Soul and see whether he could make it change shape!
Sooner or later, he would have an offensive Soul Skill.
He had just wiped away the sweat on his body when the training room doors opened. Gu Yue walked steadily toward Li Jinsheng, her purple eyes continuously sweeping up and down his body.
She still felt that this guy was not human. Other than having a human face, he did not look human at all!
"Why are you looking at me?" Li Jinsheng frowned and instinctively stepped back half a step. He knew that the Silver Dragon King's injuries had not fully recovered during this period, and she had even lost thirty percent of her origin.
Could it be that she saw he was a Life Attribute Spirit Master and wanted to find a chance to eat him? Was he some kind of coveted delicacy in the eyes of Soul Beasts?
"Just wondering how an auxiliary Control System Soul Master like you dreams of becoming a Battle Soul Master." Gu Yue could not help teasing him, her voice carrying a trace of pride.
With a towel draped around his neck, Li Jinsheng slowly exhaled. "Everyone should have dreams. And from beginning to end, my dream has been to live longer and look cool while doing it."
He leaned slightly closer to Gu Yue. "As for you, Miss Gu, why do you care about some commoner like me?"
He turned and walked toward the equipment rack, putting the equipment back in place.
Gu Yue watched his back, confusion in her eyes. Wasn't he a genius of the Spirit Pagoda? Could that even count as a dream?
After putting away the equipment, the boy bade farewell to the coach and headed straight for the door. As he passed Gu Yue, he did not spare her another glance.
The automatic doors opened and closed once more, and Gu Yue felt an inexplicable anger building in her chest.
Li Jinsheng, meanwhile, no longer concerned himself with the Silver Dragon King. She had definitely come to Eastsea City for the Golden Dragon King. Unfortunately, Tang Wulin was currently in Aolai City, and he could not be used as material for Li Jinsheng's longevity either. Tang San had also prepared three chances for him. What a pity.
Upon returning to his small room, he found it spacious yet completely free of unnecessary clutter.
Entering the bathroom, Li Jinsheng let hot water wash over the stiff muscles left over from training. Steam soon coated the frosted glass, concealing the boy's somewhat lean body.
After washing up, he dried the water from his body and looked at himself in the mirror. He had the same black hair and black eyes, but he no longer looked as frail as he had three months ago.
"Keep working hard, toward your dream. I want to live on—keep living on." He murmured to his reflection. He did not know what awaited him in Douluo Continent, so he had set himself an almost impossible dream: to survive, and keep surviving.
Only by surviving could he accomplish his second dream.
He climbed onto his bed and sat down cross-legged.
After closing his eyes and regulating his breathing for a while, making sure his body had recovered, he slowly raised his left hand, palm facing upward.
Emerald green motes of light drifted out from between his fingers, gathering together like fireflies on a summer night.
The boy stared at his martial soul, attempting to use his powerful mental will to alter its form. In his mind, he imagined a simple pinwheel pattern.
But no matter how he tried, his martial soul did not change in the slightest.
Half an hour later, he withdrew his Soul Power, and the ball of light abruptly shrank back into his palm.
As expected, it didn't work.
Wiping the sweat from his forehead, he could not help giving a self-mocking smile.
He knew he could not waste his time on some illusory Self-Created Soul Skill. He did not think he possessed such extraordinary talent. Right now, the most important thing was cultivating himself.
Moonlight filled the sky outside the window as he began cultivating again. Soul Power circulated through his meridians in a new cycle, and a faint emerald glow appeared across his skin. The soreness left behind by training vanished without a trace at that moment.
The next morning, Li Jinsheng sat in the Soul Master class at East Sea Junior Academy, lazily leaning against his desk.
Seeing Li Jinsheng like this, Xie Xie could not help asking curiously, "Li Jinsheng, did you stay up late cultivating again?"
"What do you mean, staying up late cultivating? Isn't becoming stronger the whole point of being a Soul Master? I'm not like you! I have to cultivate diligently." Li Jinsheng knew that the Spirit Pagoda gave him benefits because of his talent. Therefore, he could not squander that talent. It was his only value within the Spirit Pagoda.
Xie Xie looked at Li Jinsheng with his watery eyes and asked curiously, "Shouldn't cultivation be gradual?"
Li Jinsheng listened, a calm smile appearing on his face. "Of course. I know how to balance work and rest too."
Just then, the bell for class suddenly rang. Li Jinsheng smiled at Xie Xie again. "Time for class."
He took out his textbook and looked toward the teacher entering the classroom.
Xie Xie returned to his seat, still unable to understand why Li Jinsheng worked so hard. But at the moment, he had no idea how different his circumstances were from Li Jinsheng's.
Time flew by, and the setting sun gradually sank below the horizon.
The afternoon meditation class finally ended as the dismissal bell rang through the campus.
Li Jinsheng said goodbye to Xie Xie and returned to the East Sea Spirit Pagoda.
He passed through the bustling lobby and waited quietly in front of the elevator.
The elevator doors opened, revealing Gu Yue standing inside in a white dress.
"You're back from school?" Her voice was crisp, carrying a hint of curiosity.
"Can't you tell?" Li Jinsheng replied blandly as he stepped into the elevator, pressed his floor button, and waited in silence.
"What level is your Soul Power?"
"Fifteen."
"Oh."
Their exchange was brief. When the elevator doors opened again, Li Jinsheng walked straight out and headed for his room.
Gu Yue remained in the elevator, watching the boy's departing back without saying anything.
The elevator continued descending as the numbers changed, eventually arriving at the seventh floor.
Seventh floor, Spirit Pagoda Soul Spirit Laboratory.
"Ding—"
After her identity was verified, the automatic doors opened, and a blast of cold air rushed toward her.
Gu Yue walked inside. After a brief exchange with Zi Ji, the two headed down to the underground parking garage together.
Once inside the car, Gu Yue asked toward the front, "Have you found the source of the Golden Dragon King's aura?"
The moment her words fell, the already quiet cabin became even more silent.
