Primordial Heavenly Venerate views the Investiture of the Gods Calamity as the means to secure the Chan Sect's future, destroy the Intercepting Sect's Dao Lineage, and obstruct Tongtian's path to Transcendence. He argues that his own high-origin disciples should remain outside the calamity while the Jie Sect's vast membership should fill the Investiture list. 236 246

When Lu Yuan exposes Yuxu Palace's scapegoating scheme, Yuanshi sends the Jade Pure Daoist and Primordial Heavenly Demon to suppress him beneath Qilin Cliff. Tongtian stops Yuanshi's true body in Chaos, turning the dispute into an open rupture between the two brothers. 241
