Under the clash of gold against red and black, more than ten minutes passed.
Though the two powers were evenly matched in strength, their masters would eventually run out of stamina.
By now, the light radiating from the five Alchemy Formations around Professor Green had gradually dimmed. The magic within Professor Green seemed to be on the verge of depletion!
Seeing this, Cassirachi could not help but reveal a victorious smile.
After all, his Fiendfyre could devour everything around it that it was capable of consuming, constantly growing stronger, while Professor Green's Alchemy Formations relied entirely on Professor Green's own magic to sustain them.
With such unequal magical output, it would have been strange if Professor Green had managed to hold out until the end!
Professor Green's face darkened as he watched Cassirachi gloat.
If he had died at Grindelwald's hands back then, he could have accepted it. But now, he had encountered Linley, a genius disciple of unparalleled talent. The problem he had struggled with for so long finally had hope of being solved, and it seemed as though everything was about to turn for the better.
Yet now, he was going to die at the hands of a beaten cur like Cassirachi. How could he possibly accept that?!
He refused to accept it!
Professor Green let out a low roar, and the Alchemy Formations around him bloomed with light once more.
But depleted magic was depleted magic. It could not be restored with a simple roar, no matter who made it. No matter how unwilling Professor Green was, he could only watch helplessly as the Alchemy Formations around him dimmed again, while the hounds formed from Fiendfyre continued breaking through his defenses and lunging at him.
In the distance, Linley could no longer sit still.
Even having lived two lives, Linley could not stand by and watch his benefactor die!
At that moment, inspiration struck him. He seemed to remember something and quickly rummaged through the canvas bag at his waist, which had been enchanted with the Undetectable Extension Charm.
Soon, Linley's face lit up with joy as he pulled a one-meter-long scepter from the canvas bag!
The Mana Suppression Scepter!
As he gazed at the exquisite scepter in his hand, Linley recalled Professor Green's introduction to it.
"This is a single-use Mana Suppression Scepter. Once you inject it with magic, it unleashes the power of a Mana Stone, suppressing magical power within a hundred-meter radius and rendering the wizards within range unable to cast magic, like dud wands. However, the Mana Suppression Scepter can suppress magic only up to Auror level at most. Its effect on Demon King level wizards is extremely limited."
At this moment, Linley was less than a hundred meters from the battlefield where Cassirachi and Professor Green stood. And Cassirachi's strength clearly had not reached Demon King level like Grindelwald's. Otherwise, Professor Green could never have held out against him for so long.
"Please, Mana Suppression Scepter!"
Linley gripped the Mana Suppression Scepter tightly. Just as the Fiendfyre hound pounced on Professor Green and was about to bite through his throat, Linley poured his magic into it.
Buzz~
A hum rang out as a visible wave of light rapidly spread in every direction. In an instant, everything within a hundred-meter radius centered on Linley was enveloped by the authority of the Mana Suppression Scepter!
The hounds formed from Fiendfyre seemed to have encountered dozens of Aurors casting Vanishment Charm at once, vanishing without a trace in an instant.
Not only that, the glow at the tip of Cassirachi's Wand and the dimmed Alchemy Formations around Professor Green shattered apart and dispersed like smoke.
"How is this possible?!"
Feeling the magic within him completely suppressed and impossible to draw upon, Cassirachi cried out in shock.
Professor Green, meanwhile, looked toward Linley with a complicated expression. After the Mana Suppression Scepter's authority had been activated, Linley's Veil Charm had failed, revealing his original form.
"I never expected the gift I gave you would ultimately be used on myself..." Professor Green gave a bitter smile, dusted off the dirt that had clung to his clothes after being knocked down by the Fiendfyre hound, and rose to his feet.
Linley rushed over at once. He pulled out the dagger Professor Green had given him, enchanted with the Sharpness attribute, and stabbed it toward Cassirachi's chest.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Cassirachi failed to react in time and was stabbed three times in succession by Linley.
However, Linley had struck too hastily, and none of the three stabs hit Cassirachi's vital points. That gave Cassirachi the chance to counterattack.
Having never experienced a real battle, Linley was naturally no match for a former Saint who had fought countless battles. Cassirachi slapped the dagger out of Linley's hand, rolled over, and pinned Linley firmly beneath him. Both hands clamped around Linley's throat as he tried to strangle him to death.
With no one able to cast magic, Professor Green, who was still more than ten meters away from Linley, had no chance of saving him in time!
The feeling of suffocation hit him. Linley struggled desperately, but he was only eleven years old. Even though he exercised regularly, his physical strength was still far inferior to Cassirachi's!
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!...
Just as Linley thought he was about to be strangled to death, a string of gunshots rang out. The hand gripping his throat loosened, finally giving Linley a chance to breathe.
Linley shoved Cassirachi's body away with all his strength and gasped for air.
Once he recovered and looked at Cassirachi, he discovered in horror that the other man's head was now riddled with bloody holes!
"In the absence of a Demon King level wizard, my Mana Suppression Scepter makes everyone equal. And at times like this, certain Muggle weapons can be very effective."
Professor Green walked over slowly, a metal firearm in his hand still smoking.
Clearly, when Cassirachi had said before the battle that Professor Green had injured his master with Muggle firearms, he had been referring to the time Professor Green activated the Mana Suppression Scepter and used a gun to wound Grindelwald.
Of course, even though Muggle firearms were powerful, they were nowhere near enough to kill Grindelwald while he still retained the ability to cast magic. Linley had already heard from Professor Green about what happened afterward.
"Thank you, Professor!" Linley struggled to his feet. Fortunately, Professor Green's firearm had saved him. Otherwise, he might truly have died at Cassirachi's hands.
At those words, Professor Green shook his head. Guilt filled his eyes, along with the affection one might feel for one's own child. "No, Linley. I should be the one apologizing to you. As your teacher, your professor, not only did I fail to protect you, I put you in danger instead. That is my failure!"
Professor Green was immensely grateful that he had trusted Linley enough to make a Mana Suppression Scepter for him.
Otherwise, not only would he have died, but Linley, this exceptionally gifted child, would have been dragged into it and killed as well. If that had truly happened, Professor Green would never have forgiven himself, even in hell!
