After Irina Lowell was sorted into Gryffindor, Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and the others who had appeared in the original story were sorted in turn according to the order of their surnames.
Before long, the Sorting Ceremony ended, and the welcome feast officially began after Professor Dumbledore's brief speech.
Among the feasts at Hogwarts Castle, only the welcome feast, Halloween feast, Christmas feast, and end-of-year feast were especially lavish. Thus, even Slytherin's proud little snakes could not help turning into Hufflepuffs when faced with such delicious food, stuffing themselves to their hearts' content.
After the feast, Linley followed the crowd back to the dormitories.
But unlike last year, three new students had joined his dormitory this year.
One platinum-haired boy, accompanied by two dark-haired lackeys.
"This is Crabbe, and this is Goyle. They're my lackeys. As for me, I'm Malfoy—Draco Malfoy. Senior, I think we could be very good roommates."
The platinum-haired boy held out his hand and introduced himself to Linley.
Seeing the three of them, Linley could not help feeling a little taken aback.
Ever since he had been left without a roommate assignment last year and had enjoyed a dormitory all to himself, he had known that three first-year students would be joining him this year. But he had never expected his new roommates to be the Malfoy trio.
Linley gave them a slight nod. "I'm Rory, Linley Rory. As long as you don't disturb my studies, I think we'll be very good roommates."
With that, Linley gave his wand a light wave.
With a beautiful Silent Spellcasting, countless textbooks and alchemy materials flew neatly out of his bag and settled into their proper places within just a few breaths.
That display of Silent Spellcasting left the Malfoy trio stunned.
"Silent Spellcasting?! Isn't that something only fifth-year seniors and above learn?!"
Malfoy said in disbelief.
Linley turned his head slightly. "If your talent is high enough, and you're willing to spend a great deal of time practicing, I think you can do it too."
Linley had no desire to continue the conversation. An evening was very short, and he still needed to try using Formation Alchemy to enchant the Desert Eagle Professor Green had given him.
He only hoped these three new roommates would not be too rowdy and interfere with his alchemy.
After carefully taking his Desert Eagle from his pocket, Linley began considering which Alchemy Formations to use for the gun's enchantment.
Not far away, Malfoy and the others had seen little of the world. They merely assumed the object in Linley's hand was some scrap piece of iron he had picked up somewhere. Thus, they did not bother with Linley any further and went about their own business.
"For a Desert Eagle, the gun itself only needs Alchemy Formations focused on properties like 'dexterity,' 'lightness,' 'precision,' and 'reinforcement.' The key is to reduce the burden. As for the gun's power, that will have to rely on enchanting the bullets!"
Linley quickly made up his mind. He took out his Mithril Engraving Knife and prepared to begin his alchemy.
As two flowers bloom, each tells its own tale.
While Linley worked on his alchemy, in the Gryffindor girls' dormitory—
Irina sat on her bed, seemingly lost in thought.
In her previous life, she had been a university student. During a summer trip to Antarctica, she had accidentally discovered a poaching gang's refrigerated truck parked by the roadside. While the group had left the vehicle and had yet to return, she secretly opened the door to its cold storage compartment, slipped inside, and released all the Antarctic penguins the poachers had captured.
But just as she was preparing to escape, the poaching gang happened to return. They did not discover her inside the cold storage compartment and simply locked its door from the outside.
By a cruel twist of fate, she was trapped inside that compartment and ultimately froze to death in its frigid environment.
She had thought she would sleep forever in that cold storage compartment, never to awaken again. Yet unexpectedly, she had been reborn in England in 1980, born into a middle-class family with the surname Lowell.
Just as the reborn Irina had been eagerly preparing to use her knowledge of the future to become a successful figure in England, her acceptance letter from Hogwarts shattered her original dreams.
Only then did Irina realize that she had not transmigrated into her original world, but into the magical world of Harry Potter.
It was not as though Irina had never considered refusing to attend Hogwarts and continuing her development in the Muggle world.
But if young wizards did not receive proper instruction, losing control of the magic within them could turn them into an Obscurus!
Irina did not want to explode and die because of that.
Besides, if she did not possess sufficient means of self-defense, then she and even her family would be nothing more than ghosts beneath a Killing Curse, no matter if they possessed England's greatest power and wealth.
Thus, she could only accept Hogwarts' admission letter and prepare herself to enter the magical world.
While practicing magic over the summer, Irina unexpectedly discovered that she possessed an extraordinary talent for a spell called the Glacier Spell. Not only that, every spell related to ice came to her with effortless ease. Even the water summoned by Aguamenti could transform into solid ice at her will!
By the day school began, Irina had actually already mastered Silent Spellcasting for the Glacier Spell!
This talent delighted Irina beyond measure. In her view, aside from herself, probably no one else could achieve Silent Spellcasting before even enrolling at Hogwarts.
Of course, Irina had once wondered why she alone possessed such a special talent. After all, all her ancestors had been Muggles, without a trace of wizarding blood.
But she soon came to terms with it and simply regarded it as fate's reward for the good deed she had done in her previous life.
She had frozen to death for saving trapped little lives in her past life, and in this one she had been granted the power to control ice. That was perfectly reasonable, wasn't it?!
That was what Irina thought.
"Irina, what are you thinking about?"
A sweet voice came from beside her. Irina turned toward it and saw Hermione looking at her with a curious expression.
Yes, Hermione was Irina's roommate.
At the thought of sleeping together with the adorable little Hermione, Irina felt immensely happy.
Little Hermione was fragrant and soft. As a girl who loved Hogwarts, Irina naturally held tremendous affection for Hermione.
Irina smiled faintly, her smile as refreshing as a gentle breeze and making Hermione unconsciously feel at ease. "Nothing. I was just thinking about a spell I've been practicing!"
At that, Hermione, the academic star, immediately perked up. "What spell?! I practiced quite a few spells over the summer too. Maybe we can share our experiences and insights!"
