The Homeworld Problem

After leaving Planetary Governor Skaman in charge of settling the million-plus migrants they had captured, Peter returned to the War Band's Fortress Monastery. It was only while discussing the Neophytes' transformation with Apothecary Dioscorides that he discovered the problem with time on their Homeworld.

They had been away from this star system for a full three years, yet less than two years had passed on their Homeworld.

To be honest, in this chaotic galaxy—especially for a fleet that had endured multiple Warp voyages—a discrepancy of a year was within acceptable limits. Still, it was hardly good news.

After all, only three years earlier, a Warp Storm had swept through the star system and sent them from Terra Calendar 682.M31 to Terra Calendar 781.M31. Somehow, they had ended up ninety-eight years in the future.

At this point, even if someone told Peter that a group of Astartes from the time of the Great Heresy had been swept ten thousand years into the future by a Warp Storm, he wouldn't be surprised.

Of course, there was nothing Peter could do about it. He wasn't one of the Four Chaos Gods, so all he could do was leave the Warp Storms to run their course.

Rather than waste his energy on something beyond his control, he was better off focusing on more important matters. For example, Sappho, his official chronicler, was here to give him her regular report.

Peter sat solemnly in the office of the Fortress Monastery, on an iron chair. He wore no Power Armour, yet still exuded an unquestionable authority.

Before him, Sappho, dressed in a pale purple Peplos, was preparing to report on the state of the planet.

Sappho took a deep breath and began her report:

"Honored Forged Steel Lord, our planet is facing all kinds of problems.
