Loren descended from the third floor to the first, thump, thump, thump, along the narrow yet brightly lit staircase.
The moment he entered the first-floor hall, his eyes lit up.
A scene steeped in medieval charm and fantastical atmosphere rushed toward him, making him feel as though he were in a dream.
The hall on the first floor was not particularly large. More than a dozen round wooden tables were neatly arranged in three rows.
They were already packed with people, and the clamor echoed through the inn.
Most of those eating and drinking were adventurers wearing leather armor with daggers at their waists.
Several burly warriors gulping down alcohol even had large patches of unwashed black blood on them, giving off a brutal, bloody air.
Most eye-catching were the scar-covered warriors seated in the very center of the hall. Judging by their presence, they were all Silver Grade.
One of them wielded a greatsword three palms wide and nearly as tall as a man.
Two beastkin girls in servant outfits, with fluffy tails and cat ears, weaved back and forth carrying food and rum. From time to time, they flashed seductive smiles at the brawny men at the tables.
At the counter lined with all sorts of liquor, the sharp-featured owner, dressed in luxurious robes, was quietly negotiating with two thieves in light leather armor.
At one point, he grew so excited that he slapped the table. In the end, they seemed to reach some sort of agreement. After taking an item from the thieves, he produced a stack of money, then watched the two unwilling thieves leave with a sinister grin.
Outside the front door, a Spellcaster master carrying a staff and dressed in priestly robes was about to enter the hall. Upon seeing the noisy scene inside, he frowned deeply. After casting a disdainful glance at the room, he turned and left despite the sharp-featured owner's attempts to keep him.
Loren stood there for a long while before coming back to his senses. He took a deep breath, and the scent of alcohol, food, and even blood flooded his nose.
His expression became somewhat subtle. This was a world filled with extraordinary power, danger, and excitement.
A brand-new world!
At that moment, his restless heart began to stir.
Perhaps he might live an even more wonderful life in this extraordinary world than he had on Earth.
Just then, the previously lively atmosphere slowly fell silent.
Many people were confused, but when they saw Loren standing at the foot of the stairs, their expressions changed slightly.
Nobles?
Why would those arrogant noble masters come to a dump like this?
When those mud-legged commoners saw Fiana, the entire room instantly fell completely silent. No one dared to speak another word.
It was not Fiana's beauty that stunned them, but the aura around her that made them feel as though they could not breathe.
The first rule of survival on the Nol Main Plane: one must show sufficient respect to the strong.
Loren naturally noticed this. After withdrawing his gaze, he did not linger. Amid the vigilance, caution, unease, and faint fear in the room, he calmly walked out.
Every status had its own rules of conduct. A noble master speaking to lowly adventurers would only seem out of place.
Only a few female adventurers had sparkling eyes. What a handsome noble master.
After stepping out of the inn, Loren's view immediately opened up.
Although night had fallen and dark clouds covered the twin moons, Decker City was far from shrouded in darkness. The shops on both sides of the street were still brightly lit and open for business.
The street was paved with bluestone. Though it could not be called clean and tidy, it still had the look of a major city.
Lighting candles made from Magic Beast fat glowed brightly beneath glass covers along the roadside, while the angel statues beneath the streetlamps cast long shadows in the firelight.
The buildings lining both sides of the street were ten-meter-tall houses with pointed roofs. Their semicircular windows were painted with colorful religious images, radiating the style of medieval Western Europe.
Since it was already night, there were not many pedestrians on the street. More than half of them were professionals in leather armor carrying weapons, while ordinary residents were few.
Looking at the street filled with exotic charm, Loren's mood improved for no apparent reason.
He turned to glance at Fiana beside him, wanting to say something, but when he saw the girl's icy expression, he could not help shaking his head.
Back in university, he had met a cold and aloof senior student. Because she was exceptionally beautiful, some troublemakers had even named her the Ice Queen of the campus. When he was younger, he had been quite in awe of girls like that.
But after that aloof senior had lain in his arms, pouting and acting cute, even wearing stockings as she urged him to hurry up, there had never again been such a thing as "cold and aloof" in his eyes.
Thinking of that, he could not help giving a bitter smile. What a pity. He might never be able to return in this life.
Suppressing the complicated emotions in his heart, he looked toward the street and scanned the passing pedestrians.
To hide his Archdemon Bloodline, he had come alone to Decker City, with only Fiana at his side.
It could be said that he was like a blind man in this city. He had no reliable information and did not know a single person.
After looking around for a long time without finding anyone suitable to ask for information, he felt a little awkward.
Moreover, when the people around him saw the robes of a noble master on him, they all gave him a wide berth, afraid of offending him.
In this world ruled by Nobles, commoners and Nobles were never the same kind of people. If a commoner offended a Noble, even being whipped to death alive would draw no concern.
Loren felt rather helpless at the sight.
If I had a few subordinates who could gather information, why would I be standing around stupidly on the street?
If all else fails, I can go to a tavern. It seems taverns in the city sell intelligence, or I can return to the inn and find someone to ask.
Just as Loren was about to try another approach, a thin figure hurrying along with a large bag of black bread caught his eye. He quickly stepped forward and reached out to stop the thief whose aura had only just reached Bronze Grade.
"Adventurer, which merchant associations in Decker City are not protected by Nobles?"
The thief Loren had suddenly stopped was startled. His body immediately tensed, and his hand instinctively reached for the dagger at his waist, as though he were ready to fight for his life.
But when he saw Loren's noble robes and the noble crest embroidered on his chest, his expression instantly changed. Then, when he saw Fiana behind him in black armor, her looks nearly perfect, his face went dark.
What do these damn Nobles want with stopping me for no reason?
