Background / History

Decker City was founded by a Pioneer Lord approximately three hundred years ago. Under Silver Moon Kingdom law, Pioneer Lords may establish cities in the Endless Wasteland and hold complete ownership over them; this prospect has made Decker City a model for aspiring frontier lords despite the danger of the monthly Bloody Day. 1 2

The city has endured repeated attacks by Bloody Polluters. Its immense walls bear dense beast-like claw marks and a blackened layer of dried blood, evidence of the pressure it faces whenever the Blood Moon rises. 25

Loren Grant arrived in Decker City after Gray Eagle Territory was breached during Bloody Day. He stayed in a small inn near the city center while seeking funds, information, and manpower to rebuild his territory. 1 2

While in the city, Loren used the Orchid Family's influence to form a merchant-guild alliance, ultimately obtaining 25 million Puck. He later purchased supplies and barbarian forces through the city's slave trade before departing for Gray Eagle Territory. 17 23 25

Appearance

Decker City is an old, densely built frontier metropolis of bluestone streets, brightly lit shops, and tall religiously styled buildings. At night, Magic Beast-grease candles illuminate the streets beneath glass covers, while angel statues and religious carvings reinforce the city's imposing atmosphere. 5

• Buildings commonly rise around ten meters high, with obelisk-shaped roofs, semicircular windows, and colorful religious patterns. 5
• Major crossroads feature bronze sculptures of sky knights fighting griffins. 25
• The streets are populated primarily by armed professionals—adventurers, warriors, thieves, merchants, guards, and nobles—while ordinary residents are comparatively scarce. 5 25
• Its outer walls exceed forty meters in height and are reinforced by elevated arrow towers and siege crossbows. 25

Districts and Economy

District Twelve

District Twelve lies between the noble districts and the slums. Its residents are mostly commoners without powerful patrons; they are pressured by nobles while holding social power over those in the slums. 6

• Many merchant guilds in the district lack noble backing and operate businesses left to them by the nobility. 6
• The Jasmine Flower Merchant Guild is the district's largest guild, dealing primarily in slaves and Magic Beast fur. 6
• Loren targeted the district's smaller guilds for his alliance, judging them easier to manage and more dependent on his protection than large merchant guilds. 8 9

Slave Trade

Decker City's location beside the Endless Wasteland makes it a major slave-trading center. Slaves from Orc, half-orc, Dungeon Race, Lizardman, and other populations can be brought into the city, keeping prices below those elsewhere in the Silver Moon Kingdom. 18

• The largest slave market in the northern region is located in First District. 18
• The Black Feather Merchant Association is the leading merchant association in the North and trades in slaves, cloth, grain, salt, steel, and other goods. 19
• The association is backed by Decker City and was named after the first City Lord's black griffin mount. 19

Defenses

Society

Decker City's society is strongly stratified between nobles, commoners, and slaves. Commoners avoid offending nobles because noble status carries immense social and practical power; Loren's noble clothing alone causes people to keep their distance. 5

Strength is similarly central to the city's social order. Bloodline Awakeners receive respect from every faction, and Loren's defeat of the Gold Grade barbarian chieftain Yaz Frost made him the focus of Decker City's nobility. 6 24

• Adventurers, mercenaries, thieves, spellcasters, merchants, beggars, nobles, and city guards all appear in the city. 5 25
• Decker City's nobles consider the capital-born Orchid Family exceptionally influential and effectively untouchable within the Northern Territory. 21 24
• The city has comparatively few spellcasters; it is estimated that the entire city may have fewer than one hundred. 26
• Hiring even a Silver Grade spellcaster in Decker City is exceptionally costly, while Platinum Grade mages are said to number fewer than ten. 30

• Loren's arrival — Loren awakens in an inn within Decker City after inheriting Loren Grant's body and unawakened Archdemon Bloodline. 1
• First Pot of Gold — Loren investigates District Twelve's unprotected merchant guilds and uses the Orchid Family's prestige to establish a merchant alliance. 5 6 8 9
• Rise of Anor — Loren recruits the thief Anor, grants him the Shadow Thief profession, and later appoints him to establish an intelligence network in Decker City. 10 11 48
• Slave market confrontation — Loren defeats the Gold Grade barbarian chieftain Yaz Frost at the Black Feather Merchant Association, earning widespread attention among the city's nobles. 19 21 24
• Departure for Gray Eagle Territory — Loren leaves Decker City with supplies, barbarian guards, and newly acquired subordinates, passing through its heavily fortified gates into the Endless Wasteland. 25
