Chapter 11: Sacrifice Draw

Colonel Marcos looked at Kyle and Fury and said, "Since you two know each other, I won't say much else. Tonight, you will be the leaders, taking a hundred fully armed troops to the Fifth Sector—the German Army's small transit hub—for a surprise attack."

"Remember, this operation involves a counterattack from five military forces simultaneously. Once you reach your destination, you must complete the attack mission within the allotted time!" Colonel Marcos's eyes sharpened like a hawk's as he spoke, "Success is mandatory, failure is not an option!"

"Understood! We guarantee mission completion!"

Fury and Kyle saluted solemnly, indicating they had fully accepted the mission orders.

"Then, Corporal Kyle, you can go back and rest. Sergeant Fury, you need to start arranging troop assembly immediately. When the time comes tonight, you two will lead the troops and depart on time."

After handing over the mission briefing and a small operational map to the two, Colonel Marcos let Kyle and Fury leave.

"Kyle, I'll see you tonight then." Fury said goodbye to Kyle as soon as he stepped out of the command tent.

Although his left eye was still injured, he was very focused on the surprise attack mission. After saying goodbye, he jogged towards the supply area of the temporary camp.

Kyle returned directly to his temporary tent. People aren't made of iron. Although his physique was at the top level among soldiers, he was still a bit overwhelmed by the continuous combat.

Lying in a less-than-comfortable bed, Kyle closed his eyes to rest, but his mind entered a vast space.

Card Space!

As if in a dream, within a boundless white cubic space, hundreds, even thousands, of cards he had drawn and accumulated over time were spinning in a hurricane.

"Although tonight's surprise attack is very promising, I can't be careless. I need to find a way to improve my combat power."

Kyle's mental avatar was at the very center of the card storm, browsing the cards that were rapidly flashing past him.

Over the past three days, his Card Draw Ability had clearly improved further.

First, he had the ability to enter the Card Space with his mind, allowing him to freely view and examine the cards he had drawn and accumulated, and to simulate their use.

Then, he acquired a drawing ability called 'Sacrifice Draw.'

As the name suggests, Sacrifice Draw involves selecting any ten Item Cards of the same color and tier from his Card Space inventory. After sacrificing them, there's a high probability of drawing any card of the same color, and a small probability of drawing any card from the tier above.

The tier above means a qualitative leap from White Cards to Green Cards. To date, Kyle had not obtained any cards beyond Green, whether Ability Cards or Item Cards.

"What would cards beyond Green be like?"

Kyle was very curious. Based on the rarity of the Green Cards he had encountered so far, if they were Ability Cards, they would already represent the peak of professional level. If they were Item Cards, they would be valuable treasures.

Cards one tier above Green. Ability Cards of that level should fall into the realm of superpowers. As for Item Cards, they would be genuine black technology items!

"Either way, they would be of great help to me in my current situation," Kyle muttered to himself, waving his hands to separate the Ability Cards and Item Cards in the Card Space.

The next step was simple. Kyle kept some of the items with combat value and collected most of the Item Cards that could be sacrificed.

Finally, he tallied the results.

Green Item Cards: 66 White Item Cards: 389

"It still feels like not enough to draw, but this is the result of my efforts over the past three days, constantly drawing in secret on the battlefield," Kyle sighed, reluctantly proceeding to the next step.

Sacrifice Draw!

'You sacrificed [American Rifle], [Steel Helmet], [Box of Rifle Ammunition], [Communicator]...'

Ten selected White Item Cards disappeared from the Card Space, and then a brand new White Card appeared.

'Draw successful, congratulations on obtaining [Add Life].'

"Add Life card?" Kyle's heart skipped a beat. He quickly reached out to take the new White Card to examine it.

[Add Life]: Increases the user's natural lifespan by three months. White rarity Ability Card. Current Status: Can be used on others.

"Increases natural lifespan? So, if someone kills me, it won't work, right?" Kyle couldn't hide his disappointment. This Add Life card seemed different from what he had imagined.

But then again, it was just a White rarity Ability Card. How could it possibly have god-like resurrection effects?

"However, the fact that this Ability Card can be used on others makes it a decent card. Perhaps a higher-tier Add Life Ability Card could truly grant the effect of bringing the dead back to life."

Kyle thought optimistically and quickly continued the Sacrifice Draw.

"I've been reborn as an American, so my luck should be more like an Emperor's!"

'Draw successful, congratulations on obtaining [Gentleman's Suit].'

"A piece of clothing? Congratulations my foot!"

Kyle's heart was bleeding, but his body was honest as he continued to sacrifice.

'Draw successful, congratulations on obtaining [Stainless Steel Cup].'

"This is too weak. Keep sacrificing!"

'Draw successful, congratulations on obtaining [Basic Japanese Mastery].'

"What is this nonsense? Draw again!"

'Draw successful, congratulations on obtaining [Sengoku Saddle].'

"A huge loss! A real huge loss! Ten White Item Cards for this thing."

Kyle's mental avatar's eyes were bloodshot as he stared intently at the cards, like a gambler.

He understood now. Sacrifice Draw could yield any card, and the scope of "any" was too broad, leading to a wide variety of results.

However, some item cards were useless just sitting there, so it was better to sacrifice them for a chance at something better.

'Draw successful. Congratulations on obtaining [Bat].'

"Bat? There are animals too?" Kyle was slightly taken aback, his gaze quickly falling on the newly appeared card.

[Bat]: Can summon an ordinary bat to fight for you. White Creature Card.

Current Status: Usable. Summon?

Creature Card?

Kyle suddenly realized. The cards he drew directly from his nearby resources were all Ability Cards and Item Cards. This was the first time he'd seen a third type of card.

"If I have a certain number of Creature Cards to support me, won't I be able to get promoted directly to Summoner?" Kyle smiled, placing the Bat card into his combat resources.

He continued the Sacrifice Draw until all three hundred-plus idle White Cards were used up. Besides a pile of foreign language basics with practical value, there were three White Rare [Add Life] cards, and only two Creature Cards: [Bat] and [Shiba Inu].

After sacrificing White Cards more than thirty times, he hadn't drawn a single Green quality card. The small chance of drawing an Above Tier card was truly minuscule.

Kyle sighed and shifted his gaze to the sixty-odd Green Item Cards. Most of these had been scavenged from the battlefield dead, hard-won.

He only had six Sacrifice Draw opportunities left.

"If a person dies, then they truly have nothing," Kyle gritted his teeth and sacrificed sixty Green Item Cards simultaneously!

Sacrifice, Draw!

'Draw successful. Congratulations on obtaining [Add Life], [Luxurious Evening Gown], [Poisonous Wasp Nest], [Nepalese Kukri], [Street Parkour], [Stealth].'

"This is..." Kyle's eyes widened.

Among the new cards, a blue card leaped forward, its dazzling radiance overshadowing the thousands of White and Green cards in his Card Space.
