Chapter 23: Super Soldier Abilities
Kyle's arrival instantly made him the focus of the training base.
As the youngest Second Lieutenant and an American Hero, these titles were enough for every recruit to chatter about, turning him into a hot topic of casual conversation.
And now, the legendary real person had arrived, far more captivating than any idol dancer.
Steve seized the opportunity to slip away, retreating backstage while a group of dancers in short skirts took the stage to liven things up.
However, the soldiers in the plaza remained high-spirited and restless, looking around, trying to find Kyle, who had disappeared from the stage.
At this moment, backstage at the speech stage.
"Steve."
"Kyle!"
The two handsome youths ignored the curious glances of the backstage staff and embraced each other with hearty laughter, a familiar gesture of affection unique to them.
Kyle wore a gentle smile, while Steve's excited face overflowed with unrestrained joy, as happy as a child.
"Don't hug me so tight, man. The gunshot wound on my left shoulder isn't fully healed yet."
Kyle playfully chided him, looking at the tall and imposing Steve before him. He playfully punched Steve's solid chest, remarking with emotion, "I never imagined you'd grow so much taller than before. You're even taller than me now."
He was only 180cm, while Steve had now reached 188cm, a full head taller.
"That's all thanks to the Super Soldier serum. I'm much stronger than I look now." Steve didn't hide anything. A hint of sadness flickered across his righteous face as he lamented, "It's a shame, but the professor was shot by a Hydra organization spy, and the only Super Soldier serum sample was stolen and destroyed. Otherwise..."
"It's fine," Kyle shrugged, unconcerned. "Even without the Super Soldier serum, I'm okay."
After all, I still have my card-drawing as a backup.
Kyle thought to himself.
"Right. Kyle, what happened to your right hand?" Steve's surprised gaze fell on Kyle's right hand. The officer's uniform had long sleeves, but Kyle's entire right hand, including his palm, was tightly wrapped in white bandages.
Kyle lifted his heavily bandaged Vibranium Bracer and casually offered an excuse, "Oh, this? Just a minor scrape from a previous campaign."
"The counter-attack campaign!" Steve's eyes lit up, unable to hide his excitement. "I've heard about your exploits. You have to tell me all about what happened then."
For Steve, a patriot and war enthusiast filled with passion and a sense of justice, who hadn't yet experienced real combat, it was truly frustrating.
This suited Kyle's intentions perfectly, so he readily agreed, "No problem. Let's find a place to have lunch."
After speaking, Kyle's gaze shifted to Carter, who was behind Steve.
That mature woman, always maintaining a cool and aloof demeanor, was like a rose with thorns, exuding an aura that kept people at a distance.
Kyle teased, "Agent Carter is here too. Perfect, let's all go for lunch. I've wanted to repay you for a long time."
Carter had intended to coldly refuse, but for some reason, she hesitated before saying, "Then, let's go."
Huh? She agreed? We're brothers catching up, and you're actually going?
Kyle was a bit stunned for a moment, expecting someone as aloof as Carter to refuse.
But since it had come to this, he could only let things proceed naturally.
Ten minutes later, at the training base's mess hall.
At a table in the center area, Kyle sat on one side, while Steve and Carter sat side-by-side on the other.
A peculiar atmosphere for a three-person meal.
"Um... Big Brother Kyle, we're eating here?" Steve looked hesitantly at the mixed stew on his plate. It wasn't that he was disgusted, but he was thinking of the person beside him.
Only Kyle would dare to invite Carter to eat lunch in the soldiers' mess hall.
"You know, this training base is near the Italian front lines. To go to any other restaurant, you'd have to take a plane, and by then, it would be time for dinner," Kyle said with a smile. "What, didn't you used to eat here often?"
"I don't mind, but..." Steve subtly gestured with his eyes towards the silent Carter beside him.
"Oh, right. Chef, give our beautiful Carter a big chicken leg!" Kyle called out directly to the mess hall cook.
Steve: "..."
Carter remained silent for a good while before starting to eat the mixed stew on her plate with a spoon.
After only a few bites, Steve couldn't help but say, "Kyle, tell me properly about the counter-attack campaign. I heard that due to faulty intelligence, your unit of a hundred men faced a large German base."
"That's right. At the time, I was a newly promoted Corporal, and along with another Sergeant, I led a unit of a hundred men on a surprise attack mission..." Kyle began recounting the battle, but his mind was secretly focused on Steve, who was directly in front of him.
In an instant, visible only to Kyle, hundreds of cards of different colors appeared from the back of Steve's head, quickly floating and spinning around him.
[Automobile Driving Mastery], [English Mastery], [Military Boxing and Combat Mastery], [Pistol Mastery], [Sniper Rifle Mastery], [True Shield Bash Mastery]...
White and green cards densely filled Kyle's vision.
Compared to two weeks ago, when he only had the initial four white Ability Cards, Steve had undergone a complete transformation!
Of course, the number of cards wasn't the main point; Kyle had plenty of white and green Ability Cards.
Kyle's gaze quickly fell on Steve's head, where an unparalleled deep blue Ability Card was suspended, its light easily overwhelming the hundreds of other Ability Cards.
[Super Soldier]:

Current Status: Available for Draw.
Do you choose to draw?
"This is the Blue Rare Physique Ability Card." Kyle felt an irrepressible excitement surge within him.
Compared to this type of card, the skill-based [Potential] Ability Card was clearly inferior.
Without any hesitation, Kyle directly chose to draw, but the very next moment, unprecedented warnings sounded abruptly in his mind.
'Warning! Drawing this card requires thirty minutes of continuous effort!'
'Warning! Blue Rare quality Ability Cards can only be drawn once!'
'Warning! Once drawn, the card will completely remodel the cardholder's physique and cannot be changed!'
Kyle's expression changed. The three warning messages for drawing the card were etched into his mind as if carved by a knife.
"Kyle, what's wrong?" Steve asked with concern, seeing Kyle suddenly stop.
Agent Carter also stared intently at Kyle in surprise.
"It's nothing, I just suddenly remembered the difficult scenes from the battle back then." Kyle shook his head, verbally continuing the description of the battle scenario.
He didn't overthink it; his mind quickly made a decision.
Continue drawing!
