Chapter 38: Rampaging Train

'Woo woo woo, clatter clatter—'

On the railway surrounded by white snow-capped mountains, the whistle of an old-fashioned train echoed from afar, faintly reverberating above the snow-covered peaks.

A long steel cable hung down from the peak, spanning a drop of a hundred meters. The other end was tied to the mountainside of the opposite snow mountain, directly above the railway below the cable.

"It should feel like swinging on a swing," Kyle shrugged, standing at the edge of the peak, gripping the iron ring device of the sliding cable with both hands.

Steve reminded him, "Be careful. If we miss the ten-second window, the train will hit and kill us all."

"Alright, I'll find the right moment," Bucky nodded. He clearly didn't have the physique of a Super Soldier, carrying an energy gun as his weapon to kill enemies.

"Guys, get ready!"

Fury had been observing through binoculars. Seeing the enemy train appear on the tracks below his field of vision, he raised his voice, "It's moving fast, prepare yourselves—"

"3, 2, 1, GO!"

As soon as Fury gave the command, Kyle jumped off the peak first, sliding down the cable gripping the iron ring. Steve and Bucky followed closely behind him.

'Whoosh!'

The cold wind mixed with snowflakes blew against him, and Kyle, dressed in a black combat suit, cut through the wind and snow.

He watched the train's engine speed past on the tracks below him, then released his hands and landed easily on the roof of a middle carriage.

'Thump thump!'

Steve and Bucky also landed on the train roof one after another. The train continued to speed along, with a snowy valley hundreds of meters below on either side of the tracks, a sight that made one's heart pound.

"Kyle, how do you want to proceed?" Steve asked, knowing Kyle well enough to understand that even though he was now a Major, he still preferred to operate alone in missions like this.

"It's simple. I'll enter from the middle carriage of this train first and draw the attention of the enemy guards. You two go forward to the front carriages and capture the target in the driver's cabin," Kyle said. Without waiting for Steve's reply, he swiftly climbed down the side of the carriage and forced open the carriage door by twisting the handle.

Less than a few seconds after Kyle entered the carriage, an intrusion warning broadcast, the crackling sound of energy weapons, and the miserable screams of enemy soldiers echoed from inside.

Bucky, on the roof, shook his head at the sound, "As always, simple and brutal."

"Let's go," Steve was already accustomed to it. He waved forward and, keeping low, used the roof as a passage, moving towards the carriages at the front of the train.

Inside the middle carriage of the train, under the bright lights.

Five heavily armed German guards lay dead on the carriage floor, their bodies cold. Some had their hands severed, others were cut in half, and the luckiest ones were directly impaled through the heart.

Several energy weapons glowing with blue light lay scattered on the ground, stained with blood. Most of the German guards hadn't even had time to use these high-tech weapons on the intruders before they lost their lives.

'Drip drip—'

Kyle's face was cold and expressionless. His left hand held a long sword dripping with blood, while his right Vibranium Bracer still emitted a faint wisp of smoke. His leather military boots slowly stepped onto the viscous scarlet blood.

He glanced at the supplies piled up inside the carriage, then suddenly looked up towards the corner of the carriage wall, where a surveillance camera with a faint red dot was lit.

"Did you notice me?" Kyle's lips curved into a cold smile. He bent down and picked up an energy pistol glowing with blue light from the ground.

He aimed, pulled the trigger, and a tiny blue laser shot out from the muzzle, turning the surveillance camera into dust.

On the other end of the surveillance equipment, in the train's main driver's cabin.

A bald, bespectacled middle-aged professor and the train driver simultaneously showed genuine fear originating from the depths of their souls.

"The executioner is really here! We're dead, dead... the guards on the train can't stop him." The train driver's tongue felt frozen, his voice trembling and out of tune.

Major Kyle of the US Army was not only famous throughout America but also well-known in Germany!

However, this fame was built upon the corpses of thousands of German soldiers. The German army hated Kyle to the bone, even wanting to deploy bombers from the front lines for carpet bombing operations.

He haunted the Germans like a nightmare. Even the bravest and most iron-willed soldiers would feel intimidated by three points before a fight upon hearing the name 'Kyle'.

"Shut up! Send more guards to concentrate and defend this driver's cabin!" The bald professor slapped the driver across the face. Looking at the static-filled surveillance screen, his eyes under his glasses showed a crazed expression, and he muttered in a low voice, "Hurry up, it's perfect timing! Even if I die this time, I'll drag you down to hell with me!"

After destroying the surveillance camera, Kyle, inside the carriage, looked around and began to draw cards to collect supplies.

The reason he preferred solo combat was twofold: firstly, he had too many secrets about his cards and didn't want to expose them too much to others—even Steve.

Secondly, only in solo combat could he pick up high-quality enemy supplies and turn them into cards.

Especially with the Hydra organization, developed independently by the Germans, after they started manufacturing New Energy Weapons, many of their military weapon supplies reached the quality of blue Item Cards.

[Charged Laser Gun], [Reinforced Energy Pistol], [Gem Energy]...

Anything within a three-meter radius of Kyle that was a collectible blue Item Card appeared in his vision.

"There's actually a box of Gem Energy," Kyle blinked in surprise. This was an unexpected gain. A box of Gem Energy often contained nearly twenty-five blue Item Cards.

Sometimes, even after capturing a base factory, one might not find half a box of Gem Energy blocks as raw energy materials.

"Steve and Bucky, those two should be able to easily deal with the guards in the driver's cabin," Kyle muttered softly, his thoughts not pausing. At a speed of drawing one Gem Energy every three seconds, he converted all the energy blocks in the box into cards and stored them in his Card Space.

In just over a minute, no enemy guards came to interrupt his card-drawing rhythm.

Kyle finished drawing and was standing up when the train suddenly gave a huge shudder, almost making him fall to the ground.

"What's going on?" Kyle frowned, quickly opening the carriage door and peeking out towards the front of the train.

He saw that the front carriage of the train had been blown open with a huge gap, thick smoke billowed from the driver's cabin, and he could also see flickering red flames.

More importantly, the train's speed was continuously increasing, soon exceeding its speed limit, causing sparks to fly from the wheels and the tracks below!
