Goodbye, Jean, Extraordinary Family

"Teacher."

Jean's voice suddenly rang out in the room. Caesar's heart skipped a beat. Following that long-lost, familiar call, he turned around, only to see Jean still lying in bed, showing no sign of waking.

"Teacher..." Jean continued to murmur softly.

So, she was talking in her sleep.

Caesar felt somewhat relieved, yet also somewhat disappointed, as though a bottle of mixed emotions had been overturned in his heart. For a moment, countless feelings surged through him.

This was for the best...

"Sleep well, Jean. This time, it really is goodbye." Caesar gave the sleeping Jean one last look. His body flickered, and he vanished from the bedroom as if teleporting.

The wind and snow outside grew ever fiercer. Who knew how much time passed.

"Teacher, don't leave me!" With an unconscious cry, Jean suddenly opened her beautiful eyes. As if startled awake from a nightmare, she shot upright in bed in sheer terror.

Jean's lovely face was deathly pale. She blankly swept her gaze across the bedroom, then patted her full chest and murmured bitterly, still shaken, "So, it was only a dream."

A tear spilled from her left eye, rolled down her cheek, and fell onto the blanket.

"Huh?" Jean dazedly touched her face.

This was only the beginning. Then came the second tear, then the third. Like pearls strung together, they fell ceaselessly onto the blanket.

"What's wrong with me..." Jean's face was streaked with tears, while an immense, uncontrollable grief erupted from within her.

After seeing Jean, Caesar left Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters with Apocalypse that very night, despite Charles repeatedly trying to persuade him to stay.

This was not a place where they belonged.

Other than Charles, no one knew that Caesar had come here tonight, only to leave in haste.
