Tywin, ruler of the hive, stood in the victory parade, celebrating with the hive's people the success of the decapitation strike against the Ork warlord.
Everyone had gathered in the bustling district of the Upper Hive.
The unfathomable darkness separated the bustling district from the logistics and industrial districts. On the other side lay the "Lower City" of the Upper Hive.
Six people in black hooded robes walked under the guards' watch, making their way along a desolate road in the industrial district.
The guards keeping watch over them wore hive security uniforms.
They were headed for the factory complex ahead, where components for psychic defense devices were produced.
"Look at their cheeks!"
Lyleth handed Lu Jin the magnoculars.
"No need. I can see them clearly."
Lu Jin and Lyleth stood atop a distillation tower ten kilometers from the factory complex.
At the point where their gazes met was the face of one of the black-hooded figures.
A mark of the Necron tomb world Solemnace was etched into his cheek.
"Solemnace is Trazyn the Infinite's world." Lyleth lowered the magnoculars and asked the Young God, "But the biological scans show they're one hundred percent human. Why?"
"Trazyn has mortal slaves," Lu Jin said. "He's an oddity among the Necrons. He finds humans interesting, so he keeps some captives as slaves. These people must be Trazyn's slaves."
Lyleth had no idea Trazyn had a penchant for keeping human slaves in his service.
After watching them through the magnoculars for a few more seconds, Lyleth suddenly asked Lu Jin, "Don't you want to rush in and set these slaves free?"
Lu Jin's expression was complicated. "These slaves have lived longer and better than anyone you saw on Alert Star.
"So—"
"I don't understand why humans like
