I really had let my guard down!
Chen Changan had never imagined he'd get tripped up by the Fourth Island Lord. The guy looked like a complete idiot, so how could he have so many tricks up his sleeve?
So this was what he'd been waiting for? He'd let Chen Changan lay out the path nice and clear, then make Chen Changan walk right into it?
"Not bad, kid. You sure know how to play."
"I never would've guessed you had so many tricks up your sleeve!"
"You were setting me up, weren't you?"
Hearing Chen Changan's words, the Fourth Island Lord didn't care in the least. He seemed completely impervious to persuasion. Say whatever you liked; Chen Changan still had to take the test.
"I'm very grateful for your contributions to the Fourth Island."
"You've provided an excellent way to test people. I'll remember this favor."
"But rules are rules. You haven't passed the test yet, so you'll be the first to take the new test."
"Make your choice."
"Do you want to fight twenty Star Sea Giant Beasts, or... fight me?" the Fourth Island Lord asked with a grin.
"So we have to fight, no matter what?"
"Right. We absolutely have to fight!"
"Fine, then I'll fight you!"
"I've wanted to see how strong you island lords really are for ages."
"Come on. Let's really go at it today."
Chen Changan's choice made the Fourth Island Lord's eyes light up!
Clearly, it had been a long time since it had fought, and it seemed eager for a match.
"That was an incredibly wise choice."
"Brother, you're my brother now."
"Do you know how long it's been since I got to fight someone?"
"Do you know how long I've been itching for a fight?"
