Background

Wu Changkong first meets Yun Mu and Tang Wulin at a grilled-fish shop near East Sea Academy. He introduces himself as an East Sea Academy teacher and accepts a letter from Shen Yi after recognizing its Shrek Academy emblem. 16 17

At East Sea Academy, he becomes the boys' teacher and makes clear that his class will be demanding: students unwilling to endure hardship, exhaustion, and pain are told to transfer. He was entrusted with Yun Mu's care by a senior and assigned by the Tang Sect to oversee Tang Wulin. 20 37

He quickly recognizes the exceptional circumstances surrounding both brothers. After seeing Yun Mu's opposing Sword of Life and Tree of Destruction Martial Souls, he understands Yun Mu's need to maintain their balance.
