Background / History
Naruto was born during the Nine-Tails’ Rampage. Minato sealed Kurama into him before dying alongside Kushina, leaving Naruto orphaned in Konoha. 2 As a small child, he endured isolation and hunger; at four years old, he fished alone by a river and was overjoyed simply because Uchiha Jin knew his name. 14
Naruto’s early relationship with Sasuke began as a mixture of attachment, rivalry, and frustration. He eagerly accompanied Sasuke to the Academy, while Sasuke found his affection embarrassing. 25 When Gaara captured Sasuke, Naruto’s determination to save him triggered his first major Nine-Tails chakra eruption. 154
His bond with Kurama changes from internal conflict to partnership. Naruto initially struggles to restrain Kurama’s chakra, but Kurama ultimately recognizes Naruto’s willingness to protect others and teaches him the fusion method that creates Sage Fox Mode. 361 364 Their consciousnesses later merge completely, making Naruto a Perfect Jinchūriki. 466
After the battle against Isshiki, Kurama sacrifices himself by allowing the Divine Tree to absorb his unstable chakra. Naruto survives, but loses Kurama and suffers serious physical decline while trying to help rebuild Konoha. 480 481 He chooses to rebuild his strength through training rather than depend solely on overwhelming chakra reserves. 483 487
Appearance
Naruto is depicted as a blond, blue-eyed shinobi whose appearance changes dramatically with his chakra forms. His Nine-Tails power manifests as red or golden chakra cloaks, while his mastered Six Paths Sage Mode gives him a white cloak marked with black tomoe. 154 361 477
- Unruly blond hair and blue eyes. 14 784
- Red, fox-like eyes and golden chakra when Nine-Tails chakra erupts. 789
- Golden chakra cloak with Sage Mode markings in Sage Fox Mode. 364
- White Six Paths Sage Mode cloak with black tomoe patterns. 477
- Wears the Sacred Robe during his inauguration as Seventh Hokage. 497
Personality
Naruto is straightforward, talkative, and intensely responsive to loneliness. As a child, his harsh circumstances do not make him withdraw; instead, he seeks recognition and companionship, remaining proud of his ambition to become Hokage. 14 784
His defining trait is his refusal to abandon people. He endangers himself to save Sasuke from Gaara, refuses to leave Yuki-onna behind, and later shields his allies against Kaguya’s overwhelming attack. 154 350 460 He considers imperfection, conflict, and ordinary daily life essential to genuine human connection, rejecting Uchiha Jin’s “perfect” illusionary world. 320 321
As Hokage, Naruto remains informal and easily overwhelmed by paperwork, but takes responsibility personally. He mobilizes Konoha against Divine Tree saplings, prioritizes civilian safety, and promises that no enemy will harm the village, his family, or his friends. 490 497
Abilities & Skills
Nine-Tails Chakra and Jinchūriki Forms
Naruto can draw on Kurama’s chakra for immense speed, strength, healing, and destructive power.
- His chakra cloak first manifests violently under emotional stress, enhancing him physically but risking loss of control. 154 361 789
- Sage Fox Mode harmonizes Natural Energy and Nine-Tails chakra, suppressing the latter’s violent influence. 364
- As a Perfect Jinchūriki, Naruto and Kurama share memories and consciousness rather than struggle for control. 466
- Nine-Tails Heavy Particle Mode makes Naruto and Kurama function as a single being, with Naruto described as becoming the Tailed Beast and vice versa. 477
- Kurama’s sacrifice deprives Naruto of his primary chakra source, forcing him to rely on residual fragments and further training. 480 483
Sage Mode and Six Paths Power
Naruto uses Natural Energy to strengthen his perception, techniques, and resistance to chakra-based interference.
- Sage Mode allows him to use Natural Energy where chakra-absorbing runes suppress ordinary ninjutsu. 375
- His Six Paths Power originates from golden chakra hidden deep within his cells. 435
- The power initially overwhelms him, creating a giant golden chakra construct that destroys the surrounding training ground. 435
- In critical moments, Naruto can access the Sage of Six Paths’ full power, gaining extraordinary spatial perception, defensive capability, and Truth-Seeking Orbs. 460 461
- He later uses Six Paths Mode together with Kurama’s chakra to defend Konoha from Ōtsutsuki remnants. 739
Rasengan and Rasenshuriken Techniques
Naruto’s principal offensive techniques are chakra spheres and their Sage-enhanced variants.
- Rasengan — his core close-range technique, used against opponents such as Crow Feather and the Shadow Demon King. 344 361
- Sage Art: Five Element Great Ball Rasenshuriken — fuses all five basic chakra natures and removes the Shadow Demon King’s modifications. 364
- Bonds Rasengan — embodies the shared “imperfect” daily lives of allied shinobi and halts Jin’s attempt to delete the world. 322
- Sage Art: Super Tailed Beast Rasenshuriken — combines Sage, Tailed Beast, and later Six Paths power for large-scale attacks. 384 418 456
- Six Paths Version Super Tailed Beast Rasengan — compresses Sage Chakra, Nine-Tails Chakra, and Six Paths Power into a small but exceptionally destructive sphere. 418
Shadow Clone Tactics
Naruto employs Shadow Clones for coordination, misdirection, and simultaneous attacks.
- Uses clones to pressure multiple opponents and create openings for his main body. 350 484
- Coordinates clones during Konoha’s defense to cut Divine Tree vines, sever main stems, and seal regeneration points. 492
- Treats clone use as tactical application rather than a substitute for combat skill. 484
Taijutsu, Kenjutsu, and Lightning Style
After losing Kurama, Naruto trains to become less dependent on raw chakra output.
- Sasuke trains him in taijutsu, kenjutsu, and tactical thinking. 483 486
- He learns to use leverage, reaction speed, and clone feints in sparring. 484
- Defeats Momoshiki’s chakra-grudge sludge monster with a decisive taijutsu kick after ninjutsu proves counterproductive. 496
- Kakashi identifies Naruto’s natural affinities as Water and Wind, then teaches him to cultivate Lightning Style from Kurama’s residual chakra fragments. 487
Relationships
- Kurama / Nine-Tails — Naruto’s sealed Tailed Beast and eventual partner. Their hostility becomes mutual trust, consciousness fusion, and shared combat power; Kurama later sacrifices himself to protect Naruto. 364 466 480
- Uchiha Sasuke — rival, closest comrade, and frequent combat partner. Naruto repeatedly fights to save Sasuke, while Sasuke trains him after Kurama’s loss and works beside him in major Six Paths battles. 154 461 483
- Uchiha Jin — an older-brother figure during Naruto’s childhood who recognizes his loneliness; later becomes an opponent who tests Naruto’s will through a “perfect world” illusion. 14 320 322
- Namikaze Minato — father; dies after sealing Kurama into Naruto. 2

- Hinata, Boruto, and Himawari — Naruto’s family, present in support of his inauguration as Seventh Hokage. 497
- Uzumaki Boruto — Naruto’s son and eventual successor as Hokage; Naruto entrusts Konoha to him upon retirement. 638
Story Role / Major Arcs
Childhood and Team 7
Naruto grows up as a despised orphan determined to become Hokage. Following the cycle reset, he again meets Sasuke and Sakura as Kakashi’s Team 7, initially failing the Survival Exercise because the team does not understand cooperation. 784 785 His battle against Haku becomes an early lesson in protecting others and controlling the Nine-Tails’ rage. 789 790
Saving Sasuke and Facing Tailed Beasts
Naruto’s drive to protect Sasuke brings him into conflict with Gaara and Shukaku. His Nine-Tails chakra erupts when Gaara threatens Sasuke, establishing that Naruto’s power responds most strongly to his protective instincts. 154 He continues to stand beside Sasuke through conflicts involving Jin, the Tailed Beasts, and Ōtsutsuki threats. 320 322
Resistance to Uchiha Jin’s “Perfect World”
Jin traps Naruto in an illusion of a flawless Konoha where his loved ones are alive and he is simply the Hokage’s son. Naruto rejects it because even the ramen lacks the authenticity of his real life. 320 He answers Jin’s attempt to delete reality with the Bonds Rasengan, drawing power from the imperfect memories and shared lives of the Allied Shinobi Forces. 322
Uzumaki Heritage and the Shadow Organization
Naruto helps seek out the scattered survivors of the Land of Whirlpools and learns about Kushina from Uzumaki Mina. 336 337 He later fights the Shadow Organization alongside Sasuke, Karin, Nagato, and Yuki-onna, refining his Sage Fox Mode and Five Element Rasenshuriken against the Shadow Demon King. 350 364
Six Paths Conflicts
Naruto awakens Six Paths Power, fights Black Zetsu and Kaguya, and ultimately joins Sasuke in using Six Paths: Chibaku Tensei to seal Kaguya. 435 443 461 He later merges fully with Kurama and confronts Isshiki using Nine-Tails Heavy Particle Mode and Complete Six Paths Sage Mode. 466 477
Kurama’s Sacrifice and the Seventh Hokage
Kurama sacrifices himself in the final strike against the Divine Tree, leaving Naruto weakened but alive. 480 Naruto continues Konoha’s reconstruction, retrains his body and combat skills, and assumes office as the Seventh Hokage despite still recovering. 481 483 497
Legacy, Chakra Network, and the New Generation
Naruto later retires and entrusts the Hokage role to Boruto. 638 Within the Chakra Network’s larger cosmology, the Sage of Six Paths identifies Naruto as the embodiment of the Original Network’s mature tendency: settling, guarding, and protecting the Shinobi World. 738 Naruto and Sasuke subsequently lead the defense of Konoha against the Ōtsutsuki remnants alongside Boruto, Sarada, Mitsuki, and the Tailed Beasts. 739
