The old man and the young god were still hugging each other and bouncing with joy.
Gohan couldn't stand watching them anymore. He walked up to them and asked, puzzled, "What does the Mortal Level Index mean?"
"So you don't know?"
Shin let go of Old Kai and cleared his throat. "Do you know why we held the Inter-Universal Martial Arts Tournament three years ago?"
"Uh..."
Gohan scratched his head. "I only heard about the tournament from my father. As for why Uncle Gran wanted to hold it, I'm not really sure."
"Because the Mortal Level Index determines the fate of a universe!"
Shin's voice turned grave.
"What?!"
Gohan's eyes widened.
Shin then explained the true significance of the Mortal Level Index to Gohan.
By the time Shin finished, Gohan finally understood.
"If a universe ranks near the bottom, it risks being erased. So Universe 7 was facing a danger like that all along!"
Gohan's brow furrowed deeply.
Shin stood beside him and patted his shoulder. "Don't worry. Universe 7 is ranked ninth now, so we're no longer at risk of being erased."

Old Kai clasped his hands behind his back and continued, "We can use tournaments like this to raise Universe 7 all the way to first place."
