But when Li Dan heard it involved some kind of puzzle box, that nothing had happened for a long time while Little Fatty kept studying it, and that no related supernatural incident came to mind, he made his choice.

He would check out the haunted house in the suburbs that Pete had mentioned first.

Little Fatty's problem would have to wait.

However anxious Da Shan was, he could only wait for Li Dan to finish dealing with other matters.

Ashley caught up with them on the street.

Seeing the backpack on her shoulders, Li Dan asked,

"Don't you have class today?"

Ashley pouted and shot back,

"Aren't you skipping class too?"

Li Dan teased her. "It's different for me. I have the principal's permission. You're cutting class."

Ashley pursed her lips.

"Then I'm cutting class. It's not like it's my first time. Oh, I've been looking into that estate of yours lately. You don't mind, do you?"

Li Dan chuckled.

"I don't mind, but monsters patrol my estate. Don't blame me if something happens to you."

Ashley's face went pale. What had happened with the Eight-Legged Freaks was still fresh in her mind, but even that couldn't curb her curiosity.

A private estate, with monsters patrolling it? She couldn't help asking,

"Who are you, exactly? You're not really some medieval noble, are you?"

Li Dan neither confirmed nor denied it. He only said mysteriously, "Guess."

That only made Ashley more curious. Forgetting all about whether he had a girlfriend, she grabbed his arm and demanded an answer.

Of course Li Dan wasn't going to tell her. He just wanted to tease Ashley, and she promptly started pestering him.
