Containment Commentary: The Legendary Bloodlusting Man-Eating Demon

"Boom"

A loud, muffled explosion echoed in the darkness, the sound reaching the uppermost level.

The lowest level shook violently. Beth, Rebecca, and Li Dan huddled together, feeling as though the cave might collapse on them.

Cough, cough, cough. Li Dan crawled up, covered in dirt and dust, and patted himself down.

The power of that blast was enough to make him believe it could destroy a tank.

Pete might be eccentric, but the items he provided had never failed.

"Where's Juno?"

That was Rebecca's first question after she regained her senses.

No one answered.

Beth was still dazed. After a long moment, she asked, "Did that monster... die?"

Li Dan: "It should be dead. Do you want to go in and see?"

Rebecca and Beth shook their heads like rattles. After narrowly escaping that terrifying monster, who knew if it would suddenly come back to life? They just wanted to escape this hellhole.

Rebecca: "Beth, Li Dan, let's go. It's not safe here."

Li Dan heard her and said, "I'm going in to take a look."

Beth grabbed Li Dan's hand, her intention clear: she didn't want him to go in. She choked out, "Sam is already dead. Li Dan, listen to your teacher and let's leave this place."

How could Li Dan just leave like this?

All six Wendigos were dead, and they'd even lost their deformed leader.

Now, the only card he had left was the little Heart Two, the second deformed person he had captured at the beginning.

If he left now, all his previous efforts would have been in vain.

Li Dan didn't answer. He simply pulled his hand away from Beth's and turned to walk into the half-collapsed cave at the very back.

Beth looked at Rebecca helplessly. "What should we do?"

"Wait for him a few minutes. If he doesn't come out, we'll leave."

"But Li Dan is my student. He saved us. We can't just abandon him..."

In the pitch-black cave.

Li Dan now held a Diamond Four in his hand.

"Detected containment subject: Evil Spirit Wendigo."

"Status: Near Death · Containable."

After the Ghost Card confirmed it, Li Dan walked out from behind and approached the center of the explosion. There lay a mangled half-body, surrounded by scattered flesh, organs, and broken stones.

The minced meat was spread everywhere, making it impossible to tell who it belonged to.

But Li Dan was certain that the largest piece of the half-body belonged to the Evil Spirit Wendigo. Only a pair of legs and half a head remained, not completely dead.

The single remaining blood-red pupil seemed to gaze at Li Dan.

Evil spirits were indeed different from ordinary creatures.

"Contain."

The Ghost Card flew out and plunged into the half-body. The surrounding碎肉 and the half-body were instantly absorbed into the card.

Whoosh.

Li Dan caught the flying card and flipped it over. The background showed a dark cave, with a scarlet monster crouched within. Its blood-red pupils seemed to glow, exuding immense pressure.

It was so lifelike on the card, as if it could spring to life and burst out of the Ghost Card at any moment.

The more powerful the Evil Spirit Wendigo had been, the happier Li Dan was now.

After all, with this card, Li Dan could dominate any typical slasher movie, except for that good pair, Jason and Mike.

"Contained Subject: Evil Spirit Wendigo"

"Description: A legendary, bloodthirsty, man-eating demon—an incarnation of an Evil Spirit."

"Phase Two not yet activated."

This was amazing. It even had a description. No wonder bullets felt like mosquito bites.

It truly deserved the title of "demon."

If the deformed people and Wendigos Li Dan had encountered before were within the realm of ordinary creatures, then the Evil Spirit Wendigo had definitely transcended the level of ordinary life.

Otherwise, how could it be called an Evil Spirit?

As for Phase Two, it was probably the form he had just seen, possessed by an Evil Spirit, covered in bone spurs, and exuding immense pressure.

Li Dan didn't linger. He planned to return before attempting to extract its abilities.

This pile of minced meat, which should be the boss Deformed Person and Juno's remains, can just be buried here. He had no intention of collecting the bodies; it was too troublesome.

It seemed he could even punch through the cave ceiling if he wanted to.

His strength swelled to its limit.

If Li Dan were to describe it using terms from novels he used to read, it would be the classic "he could kill a cow with one punch," or perhaps dozens of cows.

Or it would be the classic "the Mutated Ogres he had to deal with carefully before could now be killed with a casual swing."

After his strength had swelled for a while and he had adapted, Li Dan returned the way he came.

Beth and Rebecca were waiting outside. Seeing Li Dan emerge, they rushed to ask, "How is it?"

"It's fine, it's dead. Let's find the exit quickly," Li Dan said, not elaborating on what happened inside.

Rebecca showed no inclination to check on her good friend Juno. What was there to see in a pile of minced meat?

While the three searched for an exit.

Rebecca and Li Dan, along with Beth, went over their stories.

They synchronized their accounts because Juno was a council member's daughter.

With her status, there would undoubtedly be many police officers investigating later.

Beth was still a little uneasy.

For Li Dan, it was like returning home, as this was originally the Evil Spirit Wendigo's lair.

After several twists and turns.

They didn't encounter any more monsters. Using the Evil Spirit Wendigo's memories, Li Dan led the two out through an exit.

The exit was at the base of a tree in a forest.

The first thing they saw upon emerging was the clear sky.

After staying in the dark environment for so long, the light seemed a bit dazzling.

Li Dan dispelled the fusion as soon as he got out. He looked up at the sky, feeling a long-lost sense of relaxation. He didn't know the time underground, nor how much time had passed.

Beth and Rebecca greedily breathed in the air after seeing daylight again.

After resting, the three walked down the mountain and reached a road.

Vehicles could be seen coming and going on the road.

Cars meant people, and people meant safety.

The three of them flagged down a ride, intending to go to the nearest hospital or town. However, on the way, they encountered a group of police officers and rescue teams heading up the mountain.

The driver, who had given the three a ride and was still covered in dust, was stopped by an officer for a routine check. Rebecca, without thinking of hiding their identities, was taken away as soon as they got out.

Then came the questioning.

It was only then that the three learned that Juno's father, a pressure police chief, had indeed sent a large search and rescue team.

Li Dan, Beth, and Rebecca, being Juno's teammates, naturally became prime suspects.

Fortunately, the three had synchronized their stories beforehand.

However, the police simply refused to believe that there were man-eating monsters underground; such an absurd notion.

Yes, without seeing the monsters with their own eyes, these young police officers wouldn't believe it, even thinking the three were crazy.

It was an old police chief who stopped the young officer's interrogation.

"Listen, John, they might not be lying. You might not believe it, but there are indeed some non-human monsters in this world."

The old police chief's mature face bore a scar, suggesting he had experienced something extraordinary in his youth.

The young officer John wasn't very convincing, but this old police chief had many years of experience and had seen things that ordinary people hadn't. With him speaking up, Li Dan and the other two were sent to town first.

The police station was preparing to organize a rescue team to go down into the cave.

Of course, every member of the rescue team was equipped with weapons. The old police chief personally led the team. BOOM!

Most of the monsters in the cave were already dead. As long as the rescue team was careful, there shouldn't be any problems.
