Near-death containment 16 Juno forced a high-explosive grenade into its mouth, leaving it as a surviving half-body. Li Dan contained it; its card records that “Phase Two” was not yet activated.

Background / History

Li Dan first detected the creature in the underground cave system during the expedition. Unlike the ordinary, lean Wendigos roaming the caverns, it was covered in blood-red matter, had bat-like ears and bloodied fangs, and dwarfed the surrounding pack. Li Dan initially avoided it while containing wounded ordinary Wendigos after a grenade blast. 12

The Evil Spirit Wendigo later blocked the cave entrance and attacked Beth, Sarah, and Rebecca. Handgun fire caused it pain but failed to stop it; it killed Beth and engaged Juno before Li Dan intervened with rifle fire. The barrage triggered its evil-spirit possession and bone-spike transformation. 14

During the ensuing siege, it killed or maimed most of Li Dan's Wendigo subordinates and overwhelmed the Deformed Persons sent against it. Its body grew to almost four times the size of a normal Wendigo, forcing the survivors into a narrow passage. Juno was seized and dragged away, but used Li Dan's high-explosive grenade to destroy the creature from within. 15

Though reduced to a mutilated half-body, it remained alive. Li Dan confirmed its containable state and sealed it into the Diamond Four Ghost Card, gaining a powerful physical-monster containment capable of serving as both a summon and fusion form. 16

Appearance

The Evil Spirit Wendigo is a massive, humanoid cannibalistic monster whose appearance becomes increasingly inhuman after its evil-spirit transformation.

  • Initially covered in a blood-red substance over dark skin, with powerful limbs, elongated bat-like ears, and fangs stained with blood. 12
  • Large enough to fill a cave entrance several meters high while standing upright. 14
  • Possesses blood-red pupils and an oppressive presence distinct from ordinary Wendigos. 14 16
  • In its transformed state, black smoke pours from its body as dense crimson bone spurs burst through its skin. 14 22
  • Can grow to almost four times the size of a normal Wendigo. 15
  • When deployed at Li Dan's villa, it appears nearly two stories tall, with blood-stained bluish skin and heavy, engine-like breathing. 31

Personality

The Evil Spirit Wendigo behaves as a violent predator driven by cannibalism. It hunts humans and lesser Wendigos alike, tears apart prey indiscriminately, and continues feeding even during combat. 14 15 31

Despite its brutality, it displays more than animal instinct. Li Dan observes human-like cruelty in its gaze, and it appears to understand pursuit, ambush, and the advantage of allowing prey to flee before hunting them down. 14

Following containment, it obeys Li Dan completely. It lowers its head in submission to him and carries out his commands against intruders and other supernatural threats. 31 37

Abilities & Skills

Evil Spirit Physiology

The Evil Spirit Wendigo possesses extreme durability, strength, resilience, and regenerative survivability beyond ordinary Wendigos.

  • Handgun rounds and rifle fire cause pain but initially fail to penetrate or incapacitate it. 14
  • Its exterior withstands conventional attacks well enough that Li Dan's group must target its mouth and internal organs. 15
  • It remains alive after being reduced to a half-body by a high-explosive grenade. 16
  • Its available abilities include Physique Enhancement, described as a comprehensive physical improvement greater than Li Dan's earlier strength and hearing enhancements. 17
  • Li Dan's fusion with its card grants tremendous strength, heightened senses, and access to the Wendigo's cave memories. 16

Thorn Bone Spikes

In its transformed state, the Wendigo can force bone spurs through its skin and manipulate them as weapons.

  • Bone spikes erupted during its evil-spirit possession, increasing its apparent size and making it look less like a normal living organism. 14
  • The spurs can retract and extend at will. 37
  • When summoned against the Bat Person, it pinned the flying creature down and pierced its body and wings with expanding spikes. 37
  • Li Dan can access the same transformation through fusion, calling it Terror Transformation Stage Two. 22

Evil Spirit Possession

The entity's defining supernatural trait is its fusion with an Evil Spirit.

  • Its transformation began when the Ghost Card identified that the anomaly had been possessed by an Evil Spirit. 14
  • Li Dan later concludes that the Wendigo's transformed state likely combines Evil Spirit Possession with Thorn Bone Spikes. 17
  • Evil Spirit Possession is one of the abilities Li Dan successfully extracts from its card as an active talent. 17
  • The ability may draw the attention of nearby evil spirits and is considered dangerous if used without control. 17

Soul Devour and Bloodlust

The Wendigo's card lists powers connected to feeding on humans and souls.

  • Soul Devour allows it to consume a person's soul, though its activation conditions are unknown. 17
  • Bloodlust improves recovery through consuming raw meat, but creates a craving for flesh and blood. 12
  • Its version of Bloodlust is stronger than that of ordinary Wendigos and carries more severe side effects. 17
  • It readily consumes human bodies whole, including clothing and shoes. 31

Combat Deployment

As Li Dan's contained entity, the Evil Spirit Wendigo is most effective against physical supernatural threats.

  • It can be summoned directly to kill human intruders. 30 31
  • It restrained the bulletproof Bat Person long enough for Li Dan to contain it. 37 38
  • Li Dan considers it more powerful in direct combat than the Soul Severing Clown. 27
  • It is poorly suited to fighting intangible or barrier-based ghosts, as Li Dan found it strained against the Slender Ghost Shadow. 23
  • Its immense size makes it impractical in confined spaces. 48

Relationships

  • Li Dan — Captor, controller, and fusion host. Li Dan contained the near-dead Wendigo in the Diamond Four Ghost Card and later deploys it as an obedient combat summon. 16 31 37
  • Ordinary Wendigos — Initially feared by the cave pack; later fought against them when Li Dan's controlled Wendigos joined the siege. 12 14 15
  • Juno Kaplan — Enemy during the cave incident. Juno ultimately destroyed its physical body by detonating a grenade inside its mouth. 14 15
  • Beth — Victim. The Evil Spirit Wendigo attacked and killed her at the cave entrance. 14
  • Bat Person — Opponent. The Wendigo immobilized it with Thorn Bone Spikes, enabling Li Dan's containment. 37 38
  • Emma — Witnessed the Wendigo obey Li Dan and kill three intruders, which intensified her fascination with Li Dan's power. 31

Story Role / Major Arcs

The Descent Cave Incident

The Evil Spirit Wendigo serves as the apex predator of the cave system explored by Li Dan's group. Its appearance escalates the threat beyond the ordinary Wendigo pack, resulting in Beth's death, the destruction of Li Dan's initial Wendigo subordinates, and Juno's apparent sacrifice. 12 14 15

Containment and Ability Extraction

After the explosion, Li Dan returns to the cave specifically to contain the surviving creature. Its capture gives him access to Soul Devour, Bloodlust, Evil Spirit Possession, Physique Enhancement, and Thorn Bone Spikes; he extracts Evil Spirit Possession rather than the Physique Enhancement he wanted. 16 17

Li Dan's Primary Physical Combat Form

Li Dan repeatedly fuses with the Evil Spirit Wendigo when direct power is required. He uses its second-stage form against the Slender Ghost Shadow, while acknowledging that it is better suited for physical monsters than spectral entities. 21 22 23

Villa Defense

Li Dan releases the Wendigo against three men attempting to infiltrate his villa. The entity kills and consumes all three intruders, while Emma watches from a nearby house. 30 31

Battle with the Bat Person

During the police operation against the Bat Person, Li Dan summons the Evil Spirit Wendigo above the airborne monster. Its expanding bone spikes pin and impale the Bat Person, allowing Li Dan to contain both entities afterward. 37 38

Diana Incident

Li Dan fuses with the Wendigo while confronting the shadow-based Evil Spirit Diana, then later releases it to suppress her movements during the attempt to contain her. Its size, however, makes it unsuitable for the house's confined interior. 47 49
