Unknown Fear

Screams rang out.

Several people quickly ran downstairs.

Li Dan didn't run down with them. He observed Calami's death. His internal organs had been ripped out alive, but his brain was intact.

He thought it might really be the Midnight Person. He had initially suspected a Demon that ate brains, but now it seemed he was wrong.

Earlier, Mike and the others had played a few paranormal games, but nothing happened. Everything was normal.

Li Dan's guard naturally relaxed. He hadn't expected this last game to be the one with problems.

He didn't know much about this Midnight Person.

Mike squatted down, his tone somewhat excited.

"The Midnight Person is here. Its favorite way to kill is to rip out a person's heart bit by bit."

Jessie's heart was already unstable. Terrified by this, she immediately yelled, "Mike, are you crazy? Calami is dead. What Midnight Person? A murderer must have snuck in!"

"I'm calling the police!"

As Jessie spoke, she picked up her phone to call the police. The moment she dialed, she saw the zero signal bars and truly broke down.

"F*ck, this damn phone has no signal again!"

Jessie resolved to get a new phone as soon as they got back.

Li Dan was used to the phone having no signal. Sometimes, it really wasn't the phone's fault.

The moment a paranormal event occurred, the phone was likely useless and affected. It was normal for it not to work.

"Li, what should we do now?" Jennifer hugged Li Dan's arm, clinging to him tightly and refusing to let go.

"Let's go down and take a look first." As Li Dan walked, he called out to Mike, "Let's go together, Mike. It's not safe for you to stay here alone."

Calami had died because he was alone.

Mike held a candle, his expression somewhat crazed. "As long as the candle doesn't go out, I'll be fine. You guys go ahead. I want to see the Midnight Person's true face."

Good advice can't save a damned soul. Li Dan didn't believe a single candle could stop the Midnight Person.

"If you're in danger, remember to scream or make some noise."

Mike: "Buddy, trust me."

Li Dan went downstairs with Jennifer and Jessie.

Xiao Shuai and Da Shan were looking for someone because the black-haired girl had disappeared.

She had been screaming just moments ago, and less than half a minute had passed since everyone went downstairs. It seemed impossible for someone to suddenly disappear in this situation.

Xiao Mei whined, wanting to leave. She didn't want to look for the black-haired girl anymore.

Xiao Shuai had thrown up earlier upstairs and just wanted to go home now. But a cold wind was blowing outside, and just as they were about to leave, a heavy rain started.

Even so, some people still wanted to leave.

Even in the pouring rain, they didn't want to stay in the same house with a perverted murderer.

In Xiao Shuai's opinion, the killer could only be a perverted murderer, not some Midnight Person. Mike had played so many games earlier without any incidents; how could something happen now?

"Jessie, come with me. It's not safe here."

Jessie shook her head and refused Xiao Shuai's invitation. After the last incident, she felt that even if there was a murderer, she would be safest by Li Dan's side.

Xiao Shuai didn't insist. He took the key and, with Xiao Mei and the blonde girl, opened the door and ran out into the rain towards the jeep parked in the yard, not wanting to stay a moment longer.

Da Shan didn't leave. He was a bit of a school bully at school, but after being beaten by Li Dan last time, he had become a follower.

Li Dan watched the jeep drive away into the rainy night.

He didn't stop them. People who want to leave can't be stopped, and it might even lead to them turning against you.

The continuous downpour and cold wind outside showed no signs of stopping.

Li Dan had a feeling something was driving them apart.

The original group of ten had now split into four, with the intention of picking them off one by one.

If Li Dan were just an ordinary person, he definitely wouldn't have let Xiao Shuai and the others leave. Generally, the more people there are, the safer it is to huddle together for warmth.

They would gather in the living room and not go anywhere, even going to the bathroom in pairs.

He returned to the living room.

Now, only Li Dan, Jennifer, Da Shan, Jessie, and Mike upstairs remained.

Calami was dead, and the black-haired girl had disappeared.

They turned the old house upside down but couldn't find the black-haired girl. Although no one said it, they all understood she was likely gone.

Perhaps it was due to the house's disrepair.

When they turned on the lights just now, the bulb flickered and then completely died. Everyone could only gather around the table in the living room, using candles for light.

Li Dan had just glanced out the window; the only few houses nearby were pitch black.

The Ghost Card also showed no signs of anyone else being present.

Gradually, Li Dan was losing patience. Are they playing hide-and-seek with me here?

Li Dan decided not to waste any more time. If the Demon truly wanted to play hide-and-seek, it would be very difficult to find.

He stood up and said, "Let's go see if Mike is still here. Once we find him, we'll leave directly."

"We'll listen to you, boss." Da Shan had no objections and took the lead.

After a brief discussion, the five of them went back upstairs to the second floor.

Fortunately, Mike was alright. Unfortunately, Mike was soaking alone in the bathtub and was quite delirious when Da Shan pulled him out.

"Mike, how did you end up like this? Hey buddy, say something!" Da Shan shook Mike's collar vigorously.

Mike's eyes were unfocused as he stared at Da Shan and giggled foolishly.

Da Shan turned to look at Li Dan. "Boss, what do we do now? Mike seems to have gone mad?"

"Let's carry Mike on our backs and leave here first."

Mike had clearly been a fine young man just moments ago, but now he looked like a patient who had escaped from a mental hospital.

This appearance reminded Li Dan of someone he had encountered in the graveyard.

Since the boss had spoken, Da Shan had no choice but to carry Mike, the burden.

Jessie prepared to open the door. Although she clearly remembered the door being open when they came in earlier, she didn't think much of it.

Da Shan, carrying Mike, walked in front, with Li Dan and Jennifer in the middle, and Jessie at the back.

As soon as they stepped out, the bathroom door slammed shut with immense force.

Jessie screamed in fright because she clearly remembered being the last one out.

Jennifer was alright, merely curling up in Li Dan's arms like an ostrich. She truly believed and was terrified now.

Da Shan stared in shock.

"Holy crap, did you guys see that? The door closed on its own?"

Li Dan frowned. "I saw it. Let's ignore it and leave."

The group went downstairs and opened the door to get into the car.

Disregarding the heavy rain that was still pouring, Da Shan put Mike in the back and sped off down the main road.

Even though Da Shan was a large man, he still felt fear when facing such unknown things.

Fortunately, that thing didn't seem to have followed them. The group returned to their respective homes as they wished, and everything seemed to return to normal life.

Li Dan looked out at the pitch-black darkness outside the window. He wondered when "it" had appeared. He still couldn't determine what that thing was.

He took out the Ghost Card. It was still blank...

No!

Li Dan suddenly jolted awake. He remembered the Ghost Card had shown traces of the Demon's presence; it couldn't be blank.

Cold sweat broke out on his back. He frantically chose Diamond Four in his mind.

"Fuse, Evil Spirit Wendigo!"

As power was injected.

Everything in front of Li Dan began to collapse. When he opened his eyes again, he was in...

...the bathroom!

They hadn't left at all from the beginning, or rather, they had been lost the moment they entered the bathroom
